So, I'm having breakfast at a Holiday Inn in Bowling Green Kentucky. I'm out with a 3 hit wonder named Starbuck doing sound reinforcement for several college dates. Someone behind me says, "Can I join you?" I assume it is some of Starbuck's road crew and say, "Of course." Willie sits down at my table. WE chatted about catering connected to various promoters, bus drivers, outdoor shows, and next weeks shows. I've worked for bigger bands but the only person I ever met that was as good a human as Willie Nelson was Steve Winwood.
I used to see these folks in Austin Texas n they're fine people but amazingly the nicest one of the whole bunch was Stevie Ray Vaughn I saw him lots as I repaired guitars but I've had Stevie put his arms around me hold my hand and guide me through some killer guitar riffs that I was struggling with at the time. He was a truly great person not racist or ageist or sexest just cool and I knew him before and after his coke fueled days and he could snort a gram in each nostril and still be calm n I could barely talk lolhahahaha but Willy is ok I remember seeing his name as a child in Printers Alley in Nashville in the 50's
I am taking my 89 year old dad to see Willie this week for the second time. Looking forward to it. Show is on 9/14/2021. Can't wait. My dad needs to get out and Willie is a favorite of his. 🎸

And yes, stop and learn something along the way if you have the opportunity. We'd all be a lot more cheerful if we did. Willie is a wise elder and great song writer/performer along with his bandmates.
Not surprised Willie was influenced by Sinatra. Unlike most country musicians, Nelson is a superb crooner. You can really hear this in his beautifully spare sound band sort-of dials it down and Willie really “works” the stage microphone. He performs with amazing dynamic range and coloration. Combined with his unique style of guitar he’s really in a league of his own...a really national treasure. For all his down-home / aww-shucks style and human warmth, he’s really a sophisticated musician.
I always get a strange look from people when I say that no one writes a love song better than Willie. I want a man to say those words to me. Only thing is I want him to say them in Willie’s voice. ❤️

Love Willie. My daughter loves him even more and was ecstatic when a friend gave her two front row tickets to a concert of his around 5 yrs. ago. Made her so happy to be able to enjoy his music live and be so close to him. She grew up hearing rock and roll (mostly) from me but at a young age she started liking country music and Willie was one of her favorite. I can understand why she likes him so much. He's very humble, positive, caring and loving❤️ And of course has made great music! He truly loves and appreciates music like myself and my daughter does, and he's still rolling out music at 88😊 Many blessings to you Willie! Wonderful interview. I can never get enough of Willie Nelson. When I sit around the house and play guitar, more often than not, it's usually one of Willie's songs if I am not writing or playing one of my gospel songs. Willie is truely a spiritual man.

Love Willie. My daughter loves him even more and was ecstatic when a friend gave her two front row tickets to a concert of his around 5 yrs. ago. Made her so happy to be able to enjoy his music live and be so close to him. She grew up hearing rock and roll (mostly) from me but at a young age she started liking country music and Willie was one of her favorite.
I can understand why she likes him so much. He's very humble, positive, caring and loving❤️
And of course has made great music!
He truly loves and appreciates music like myself and my daughter does, and he's still rolling out music at 88😊

A great interview . . . the interviewer is good at his job . . . he actually listened to Willie and didn't interrupt Willie while he was sharing his stories; also he didn't ask yes / no questions . . . he allowed room for Willie share great stories . . .Love to hear from Willie and hear his stories . . . Thanks for sharing this . . . Willie is cool . . . Not only do I hope to live to 88 . . . but if my mind stays as sharp as his, maybe I could be 1/10th as cool as Willie . . .

I remember Patsy Cline singing the song ,"Crazy"! I had no idea who wrote that song at the time but I thought it was the best song that I had ever heard. Little did I know that the genius that wrote it was Willie! God bless you Willie!
