The teacher in Washington state how wonderful you are as a teacher. But mostly as a human being along with your fellow teachers, as well as this outstanding man in Chicago. God bless all of you.
They did this to Mr. Grant at Tilden High School in Brooklyn back in the day. They wanted the school to fail so they could divide one school into three. Dividing my school allowed the administration to promote their friends. Tenured teachers became Principals, Vice Principals and Deans. This meant raises as high as 50k each. These folks were approaching retirement, so these salaries would last til the day they died. Mr. Grant realized that the "bad' students needed help in reading. His program during detention was so effective that the negative reports began to drop dramatically. They shut it down because the failure of the students was a requirement for them to execute their plan to enrich themselves. Mr Grant also ran the very successful CCC College and Career Program. In addition he did great SAT prep. His reading test preparation class helped me earn a 98 percentile on the State reading exam. A school record that still stands
@Smarty2able no they are comparing the 2 schools. And also lying. No school district wants a school to fail. They may want to control what happens, but fail no. Also, Muhammad fired a Black assistant principal. This is what precipitated his firing.
I had so much trouble in the district as a teacher uplifting, encouraging, changing mindsets, accomplishing academic success, closing grade level gaps etc.. I had to go to the ER it was sooo much, take a medical leave. My certification was threatened. I spoke out about the insufficiency of the special ed teachers, called and reported to the district. The system is so systemic with racism, ego, and pride that I finally resigned. I realized that anyone trying to help black kids or shake up the system will be eliminated. This included some of our black folk too. Our youth’s future is in crisis 🙏🏽
Please take time for yourself to psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically recover and rehabilitate. We need you, but in a different capacity with the same goal for our Black children. These school systems are toxic and hostile towards us and children, by design. It is not our imagination. They do not, in no way, want us to succeed.
@@staywell7217 🙏🏽 ❤️thank you. I’m taking time now, in all the areas you mentioned. I pray I recover soon, so I can get back to my purpose and mission!!
As a Black educator, my student's success is my success. I had a very similar experience as an inner-city math teacher elsewhere. I too was closing achievement gaps, helping to transform schools' cultures, and helping fellow teachers to do the same. There was a time when I was not allowed to test my own students for fear that I had to have been cheating. All of my students' scores increased significantly. And, those who tested near-grade level and not 'at' or 'above' were students who babysat and missed school often or students with learning disabilities. And, all of these students improved by more than a year. The love and respect of students always came when they realized that they were loved. And, eventually, the gratitude from students and many parents in appreciation for students' successes came too. The criticisms, pressures, and intentional lack of support were so enormous until as an older female, it became physically unsafe. (Note: The lack of safety had nothing to do with the students.) With those challenges and more, my time was up. I quit. I still feel that I have lost some of my purpose. I love to see students whom others feel are incapable of achieving reach their highest potential.
This happens everywhere. They fired a teacher in WA State because he was teaching African American Studies. Put your money together and build your own schools or home school if you can.
The problem is that BLACK people must DEMAND that our tax dollars for schools MUST be taken out of of general fund & applied strictly towards building & funding BLACK SCHOOLS.
It’s true. The school systems only have the power we give them. When districts cut up like in WA and Chicago then we should succeed, and home school until we make our own facilities. Because guess what? Roll call in schools is their invoice to the feds for money. No Black students equals no federal money. Let’s leave these devils alone and keep our children out of these killing fields!
Have tears in my eyes sending you this message Professor Abdul Muhammad. Will never be able to thank you enough for being the educator that our babies so desperately need from those educators who truly respect, & love them. God is smiling on you and its obvious. 👑🙏🏼
This isn't new... I witnessed one of the best Algebra teachers I've ever had show up for us and then because he had us engaged and doing well, get fired in less than 2 years. He dwarfed a lot of math teachers at our school with his positive energy.
DEAR CHICAGO, If we don't build our own HISTORICALLY BLACK GRAMMAR AND HIGH SCHOOLS, we have FAILED our children. Let's create a SCHOOL that we can HIRE THESE BRILLIANT BLACK EDUCATORS!! ✊✊✊✊
@RodZilla11 You said “WE” a couple of times. Are you structuring a school? Why not you? Or are you saying “we” meaning Black people, hoping someone else leads or initiates this? I am just hoping that people that see the solution, become a part of it.
Pedro Martinez? This is just the Spanish removing black leadership in key positions so they can make their move to put their people in and push black men and black people out of the political realm and schools.
If blacks did this and created their own schools then are we not falling into the government trap of segregation? What’s next? Black only neighborhoods, black only counties across railroad tracks again? Reverse history? Sure fall into that trap. You and everyone who isn’t white will suffer what your ancestors did.
This happens in Canada 🇨🇦. I had black teacher who taught all of the black students. We all passed his class. After, not having another black teacher some of students went to jail, did drugs or dead 💀 now. I will never forget Mr. Fields (black Canadian teacher).
Stop it, every Community should be ashamed that as men we're still having meeting about others treating grown as men like children.. Blackfolks just don't & can't learn.. ASA, Bro Adul is speaking 100 percent truth and facts. As a Blackman, I have researched from the highest office in the land, which includes the political, Juris Prudence, economics, educational, and law, all these systems that were put in place, was put there to hold not only the parents, but to get control of our children's minds. That was the best reason for setting up the welfare programs, merely to get the main one that displine out of the house, as long as he was there as the maintainer, and disciplinarian was in the home ( I said disciplinarian, not abusers) there was "LOVE AND PEACE", and examples for our children to grow with. Not denying mothers, as they have a major part, and should at all times be respected, as she is the first doctor, nurse and teacher, that every child have.
You want have to keep doing good and no God doesn't play about the children he no who's trying to destroy his people and help is on the justice is his work 🙏🙏🙏

Back in 1954, we Black people fell for "Integration." My father did not fall for this and told me that "teachers who hate you can't teach you." I come from a long line of Black schools: K-12 and HBCU. I have always said that if we don't have our own schools, these insults will continue. Collectively, we have the money. Build our own schools--for our children.
We thought it would be a good thing, as White schools generally received much more funding that Black schools, but, as many White politicians said, "if we let schools integrate, then White parents will pull their kids out of public schools." Sadly, that is exactly what happened in many cases. We need our own private schools. That way, we can be free to run them as we see fit.
Blacks would get the books that were at least four years behind , example if JFK was president int books the yte schools had, our books would have FDR or Truman at best. Sometimes pages would be missing. Policy was you paid for damaged books, smdh.
Your father was almost right. I know from experience: teachers who hate you teach you to hate them. It took years of work to "heal" from THAT education.
If possible, he need to sue. If possible, start his on school . If possible a Go-Fund-Me, to build the school or buy a building. We Must Watch Out For Our Smart Black Student's. Because there are MANY who are trying to dumb them down and don't want them to have a good education.👍🌄
You know who runs the school system right? The Democrats. Funny how not one person in the comments section will acknowledge this fact. The fact that the school boards are 95% liberal and are one of Biden’s largest donors. That’s why inner city children cannot read or perform basic math but are being taught about lgbtq and critical race theory. The school system is training them to be activists rather than confident, productive members of society. Yet not one of you says squat. Ok then. If you’re not going to call out the people responsible for these failures than why bother saying anything at all?
That is awful this man is definitely a positive light in the school system.we need more people like this brother.who is trying to do the right thing.guess the school district of Chicago wants all of fights /stabbing /drama to be rooted in the school system.Chicago give these gentlemen back their jobs.
Thank you for shedding light on this issue. I am an educator from another urban school district and have seen this dynamic play out several times. Excellent black male principals assigned to "bad" schools having the love and expertise to transform the school AND the community only to be fired after the occuring transformation. These men have not had any immoral or "other" issues. It is a sad. Others get promoted, we get fired. Make it make sense. Suggestion: Please include the link in your description. I appreciate your work!
It happens quite a bit to female principals, too. They don't want our children to succeed, so they do everything to keep these school in a state of disfunction and failure.
@@yaimavol Teachers unions are the only thing protecting Black teachers. If you are a UNION MEMBER, AND ARE IN GOOD STANDING, you can not be fired unless you committed an offense that is grounds for termination. If you are NOT a union member, and your state is an EMPLOYMENT AT WILL state, as most are, then you can be fired for any reason, even for no reason at all. Ditto for principals. If they are in a union, they can't be fired "just because", but if they are NOT in a union, they can indeed be fired "just because".
This man is protected doing his purpose for all humanity. It is the test of truth and integrity of those who are against him, so that when God, after his Mercy, addresses the end of this matter, they cannot say, "we did not know". So lets keep loving, givng thanks for brother's work...
After over a decade in private schools in America and Asia, I came home and spent my first year working at an all-Black high school in our nation's capital. It is not just a job, y'all, it's a calling. We need highly-qualified, mission-driven Black educators of excellence to leave the white halls of academia where our expertise is often minimized, sidelined and maligned, and head to Black schools to rebuild our communities. If you are reading this and have been wondering, consider this your sign.
It's funny you say this. I worked in a school as a Teaching Assistant for majority Black students. I transitioned from another career and was deciding if I wanted to completely transition over into education, but I wanted to be on the inside to see if it was the right fit for me. It turns out, I loved teaching kids and truly excelled at it. Truth be told, I was the one actually teaching the kids in those classes, not the head teachers (and the parents had no clue). I went above and beyond for those kids. Parents would tell me that their kids came home & talked about me all night and the parents would thank me for taking care of their kids. Other teachers would send problematic kids to my classroom, because they knew I was the only one those children would listen to and be calm with. Ultimately, the Principal hated me and fired me after another teacher lied on me because she was jealous of my success with the students. There were other Black teachers I worked with who lied on me as well because they hated how good I was with the kids. Deep down, they felt as though (since I wasn't an official licensed teacher) I shouldn't have had the skills that I did. These same Black teachers later apologized to me and ADMITTED that they were intimidated by me and admired how I connected with the students and was able to successfully teach them. I even had grade leaders go to the Principal and tell him how amazing I was with teaching and managing the children - I was there when they gave me great reviews in front of this man. In the end, it was that one Black teacher who lied on me and went out of her way to get me fired because the kids wouldn't listen to her, but they had more respect for me. This same Black Principal who looked down on me, used the teacher's lies as an excuse to fire me & he also told me that I didn't do anything special or go above and beyond for the children. I thought back on ALL the things I'd done for those children & decided to no longer pursue my teaching license after being treated with such disrespect and disregard. I decided that the next time I dedicated myself to teaching, it would be under my own daycare program that I created. A place created by me where I could teach young kids with excellence and without apology.

I am white. I taught in a white rich public school and Black poor public school. The rich kids were rude, lazy and just pain disgusting. They expected to be promoted for doing nothing. But, the kids in the poor Black school were wonderful. I taught in the most disadvantaged Black public school in Washington State with 66% Black students, 5% Vietnamese, 100% white teachers, 95% unemployed parents. It was the greatest experience of my life. We teachers all worked from 8am to 6pm every day at school and at home at night. The most dedicated people I ever met. Our white principal personally provided breakfast for every student every day before school. He drove from grocery store to store to buy and beg for our kids. We addressed our students Mister and Miss and had zero litter and zero discipline trouble. Every recess and lunch was a time for students to participate in PE, art projects, music projects on various instruments, be-an-actor for 10 minutes projects, make a map, science, cooking and life skills. Wow. We were never paid extra and we personally bought all the pencils and paper and erasers, socks, clarinet reeds and whatever was needed. My dull-time annual salary was a whopping $9,273. The kids were "our" kids. We had 683 students and 3 were not on the free lunch program. Teachers bought the 3 lunches so no one felt different. Our students could all read grade levels ahead and do math several levels ahead of other kids their ages. Wow. We freely, honestly discussed slavery, including slavery traditionally imposed by conquerors upon the conquered in Roman, Greek, Egyptian eras. We discussed the value of college educations, reading broadly and critical thinking - demanding proof and questioning everything. I thank the spectacular teachers who were teaching at Cedar Valley Elementary in Washington State in the 70's. We expected the best and the kids gave their best. Winners - each one ! I wish all public schools operated like "our" school did.
Thank you for your testimony and hard work! The way that children respond to being genuinely cared for is remarkable. If I'm ever in a position to help, I will.
Amazing, 👌💗🙂proof it takes a group of great individuals working together on behalf of students who weren’t treated as pawns but people that deserved what school, education should offer. I attended an amazing public high school where I had fantastic teachers who treated us as individuals not subordinates nor pawns as well. I learned a lot and sadly, the agenda being pushed today isn’t about education but serves as indoctrination; if schools were run like yours especially, society would benefit beyond measure!🥰

I am a recent retired teacher who taught in New York City public schools. And l can testify that with the service of love , it transformed our children to higher academic achievement. I onced worked and taught in the schools Chicago. The school l taught at was DuSable High School on Chicago Westside back in the 1980's. I am not sure if it stills inexistance today but back then it did. It lies in the heart of the Westside of Chicago. The principal was Mr. Lional, he helped transformed the school that was deemed as a failure school; into a school of academic success. He raised the bar in the academic standards and teaching standards. But first he raised the bar of teaching the students self love and preservance. I will never forget this man because he and the students l served at the time help me become what l am today. And that is that l am a truly dedicated teacher who teach with love. ❤ We must fight for our children and let them know that they are loved but loved with a strong discipline with the determination to achieve greatness with themselves. God bless all teachers, principals, parents, students and the school community. We all can help our children thrive, giving them the love and support they. We can moved forward. ❤ 🙏

As an African I really like the spirit of the African Americans, especially those on the path for productivity and meaning. But then again as an African may I remind you all of the word 'SABOTAGE', we know it, the Haitians know it and a host of others too. These other people see the Black man as their eternal sworn enemies, they think and believe that the success of the Black person is their downfall, it is borne out of fear, hate, degeneracy, jealousy and abject bigotry. For African Americans, Carribeans, even Africans to succeed there most be a collection sence of urgency, unity among each group in each areas and even across board. The rich, previledged and able most come together and actively and intentionally, even urgently put resources and intellectuality together to actively grow their communities and people. To achieve that first the Black person most imbibe and grow a burning passion and love for his people. Then results will start to be seen and no one from the outside can SABOTAGE or destroy.
It's a war against the Boule. These people need to be destroyed. It's the same group who keeps us down and preserve status-quo in the "Black" community.
I really hate it when someone discusses black people, and only focuses on black men. What about black women? Black people include black men AND women! Black women have been supporting and standing by men since the beginning of time, so please stop leaving us out.
Very profound message but like he says you need to remove the people who are letting this situation continue to happen removed, the key people who don’t care and just want the position.

The Parent / family communities are NOT stepping forward. Parents are FAILING to engage and connect with their children and the issues that they face in schools EVERYWHERE! Parent/Family/Communities need to STOP assuming that someone else is going to to your job. In some cases this is not going to happen.
Totally agree it seems like the parents are ok with anything that these so called governors and these trifling ignorant parents banning books. Black parents need to pull their children and demand that the federal government provide alternative education for their kids. The government has to provide education for all children. Vouchers to go to private schools. Blacks educators start private schools to educate our kids.

This is nothing new my mom was an assistant principal that was a part of an administration that was fired because the Principal was removed. Her principal took over a failing CPS school turned it around and was ousted without cause. They perpetually want to keep black schools underperforming and thus underfunded. Former Mayor Rahm Emanuel oversaw the largest mass school closures in United States history take place in Chicago. When we have educators that love the young people enough to poor into them we need to back them and support them.
Come on now, lets tell the TRUTH. Some of those schools should have been closed a long time ago. I worked in one that closed and I was HAPPY to see it close. They children were not learning due to years of neglect and mismanagement. I fought, wrote letters, got some students into better schools, got special ed students out of a roach infested storage room, and much more. I also visited a school, where the principal did not want the teachers to talk loudly while instructing. She wanted everybody to whisper. The place sounded like a morgue. I was glad to see that school close also.
Whole heartily agree. EXCEPT for one thing. We need BOTH strong MEN & WOMEN working together. Admittedly, their strengths may be different but they are EQUALLY IMPORTANT. Thank you for your continued support and LOVE for the students’ education, growth, confidence and knowledge of WHAT COMMUNITY IS.
Not surprised…..the system will not treat you right will not teach you right….We need to STAND strong and teach our own children….. I thank dear brother for teaching our children….the test is on US to stick together and due for self….
I spent four years in a private SDA Church School in the basement of a church in Athens OH (4-7th Grades). When I went back to the same public school I started in 1st-3rd grade I was so far ahead in Math & Science that I didn’t even have to study science or practice the math problems to get almost perfect grades in those subjects. Proof that students can learn much more than what the curriculum offers. Our schools are geared to teach at the level of the laziest students and the others are so bored that they are discouraged from doing their best and most settle for just getting by with the least amount of effort. Our system is geared to the pace of teaching just what is necessary for average quality.
Teachers can’t teach anymore because of the discipline problems and disrespect. Politicians want to divide us and have us focus on the wrong things, concerning public schools. The kids are attacking the teachers and each other.
Racism. Alive and quiet well in this the United States of Amerikkka. As a retired history teacher, I took great pride in constructing and offering my version of US History during February's Black History Month. I set aside the text and conducted daily lectures from the History books and journals authored by black historians. Factual. I was willing to face termination by circumventing school district curriculum in order to tell the true story of black history articulated by black historians. Such as comparing the Black Panthers of yesteryear to today's movie line and not only the blood line of blacks but the great yet hidden amazing accomplishments of blacks. I brought all my books into my classroom for the students to check out as each was given an assignment to read and write a summary of the book they read due before March 1. The exam was constructed from my lectures. All students were offered note-taking lessons as well and were permitted to use their notes during the exam. The surprise by most of the students were accompanied by their joy of finally learning Factual historical events actors by black historians and ancestors of the race.

Mr. Mohammad said the same thing I've been saying for years; Somebody is making money even though lots of children fail or drop out of school. Just like it was WORK for the slaves to learn to read and write, now it's WORK to get ALL children educated in order to live a productive life. In 1960/1961, a group of Black teachers at my school in Philadelphia, PA, decided to provide extra school lessons for students who were doing well. We got jr high instructions while in 5th grade. They dedicated their personal time after school and took us on cultural arts trips on weekends. Regarding the State tests given: When I took the state exam in the 12th grade, the only reason I knew some of those answers was bc I learned them in the 5th grade thru those teachers and bc I was placed in college prep English even though I was training to be a secretary. NOBODY CAN PASS A TEST ON SOMETHING THEY'VE NEVER LEARNED. I pray that parents, family members, neighbors as well as professionals can create programs outside of schools in churches, rec centers, etc. You see how those in charge of "the"system" are building obstacles by firing GOOD employees? Then we have to climb over the obstacles and make a way to educate ALL children. IT WILL TAKE A VILLAGE TO GET IT DONE. Folks must also get involved politically. VOTES IN EVERY ELECTION means something! Get volunteers to commit to 2 hrs a week and set up a tag team system to cover the extra educational needs. And with love, don't forget some cookies and juice after they get their school work done. No kid usually turns down the PROMISE of cookies and juice.😊 Sports are cool, but we all know everybody will not be drafted, so all kids need education first. Don't get discouraged & give up if some kids drop out. Hope & pray they will stay out of trouble.
I praise God for the success attained. However, we can talk about the system all day, but loving children starts with teaching and correction at home, and reinforced in school. The vacuum isn’t bad schools, it is no structure or correction at home. None of that ever gets mentioned.
It's always about money. They make $1 MM on transgender operation. You're going to have a HARD time fixing that. The prisons make close to a trillion dollars. You're going to have an impossible time fixing that. Then consider, as Dr. Umar Johnson said, the school, medication, prison pathway is all rooted in money. Black parents are wising up. Black parents are THE largest group, whites included, removing their children out of public school and homeschooling them. Unfortunately 99% of those are married Black couples. So that whole single mom thing is a yoke around the kids' necks that is another impossibility to remove. For the ones left in the public schools, my hopes and prayers go out to you. Hopefully this young man will help, if he gets help.

💔
This is raw truth. If you are seeking to do right, you are the one that will be mistreated and let go
This happens everywhere. They fired a teacher in WA State because he was teaching African American Studies. Put your money together and build your own schools or home school if you can.

I will put my chidren in black schools iam tired of being dictated to in schools I pay taxes in by bunch of meth smoking nut heads.
Our tax money built these schools and pay the punks that do this.

Let's take our money and educate our own children.

✊🏾
We thought it would be a good thing, as White schools generally received much more funding that Black schools, but, as many White politicians said, "if we let schools integrate, then White parents will pull their kids out of public schools." Sadly, that is exactly what happened in many cases. We need our own private schools. That way, we can be free to run them as we see fit.
Blacks would get the books that were at least four years behind , example if JFK was president int books the yte schools had, our books would have FDR or Truman at best. Sometimes pages would be missing. Policy was you paid for damaged books, smdh.
@@aarondigby5054 That's why we thought Integration would be a good thing.

Parents need to become more involved and vocal in their children education.
Teachers Unions. That's all you need to know.
He fired a Black female assistant principal. This is actually how it started. Look it up.
@@chilepleasestop9118 What did she do to get fired?
Thank you for your service ❤. Teaching is a calling and a labor of love.

That would be me too. I had the same thing happen to me as well.
Except at White schools. THEY teach their White students much more than the minimum.
Sad but true.

Wowwwwww! Father God shift them right back into these kids presence! Chicago shall be saved!
I got to give you a Amen brother....because a man is so powerful he can lead an army.... Him and only him... That's why God made him a leader of the family.. the source of a Nation 😐...
Thank you for sharing this story !
Much Respect !!!! Salaam !!!
Care must always come first.
And this man knows himself too well. His name and religion being associated with transformation and success is reason for fear in some circles. Reminds me of Malcom X mentality❤🎉
It's a shame his own kind destroyed him...afraid of the truth Malcom X.
Taught by the same
What's wrong with knowing....staying WOKE!!! That Black man cares about his own! IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH SUCH!?!? Black people in numbers, IS power!!!
@@distr.atrny.8702 everything is right. Dd i miss something or it is u misinterpreting what i said🤷♂️
Thank you Sir as I just watched your video. Never lose heart ♥ to your vision you have for your people in bringing out the best in them.
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU, SIR
Well what are the parents, teachers and community doing about it🤔. Movement is the key. Talking does little.
Keep up the GREAT works.
One of the most riveting and passionate introductions/tributes I've EVER heard. I now feel like I know Dr. Muhammad. (I am calling him "Dr." intentionally. 💯)
The world is corrupt and I don't understand why. Why does this have to happen. I wish I could get off this planet cuz I don't want to be around most of the people on it . God bless you and I hope and pray you all get back in those schools
GOD BLESS THOSE 🙏 WHO ARE WILLING TO LOVE THOSE CONSIDERED NOT WORTHY! NO MATTER OUR TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS FROM THOSE WHO SAY THEY ARE UN LOVEABLE!
"A system cannot fail those it was never built to protect!!!." We need to build our own!!.
We need black men like them
Thank you for your dedication to our youth 🙏🙏💖
Real Love An Real Compassion For Our Children An Each Other ❤!!! At One With GOD Always!!!
This happens all of the time. America can be a wicked place at times.
At times?
I went to the first black catholic school 1-8 grade in Brooklyn, we were taught black history with books. So I taught my children black history. We need our black teachers, and our history to grow.
There were Black history books????!!
Absolutely let’s build a charter school and keep our leaders in position to stand in integrity to help change lives Amen 🙏 to our brilliant educators thank you for caring 🌹 one of Gods Jewels thank you for sharing .
Guess the goal is obvious! Sad!
I don't have much, but I would be willing to contribute towards a school, specifically for Black Chicago children. 😍
GLORY TO GOD AND AMEN!!!!! BEAUTIFULLY SHARED AND DEMONSTRATED !!! IT CAN ALSO BE DUPLICATED; AND MUST BE, IN ORDER FOR A CHANGE TO COME!!! FOR CHANGE IS POSSIBLE!!!
LOVE IN ACTION!!!!! 🔥🔥🙏❤💯💯
Power message, thank you for sharing it .
The pure Love of God for one another is so POWERFUL.
I praise God for the success attained. However, we can talk about the system all day, but loving children starts with teaching and correction at home, and reinforced in school. The vacuum isn’t bad schools, it is no structure or correction at home. None of that ever gets mentioned.
I've heard of that happening in other states, too!
Sounds like someone was jealous of the power this man commands. It doesn’t sound like power but compassion.

I went to an All Black school from k-12 and we didn't have problems like the kids are having in school today 🙃 I'm glad i went to an All Black school 😊
Bussing didn’t work!!!
@@respiratoryedthe worst mistake made, was to close smaller schools and remove students from their communities.
I went to an all black high school. The students were hateful.
I went to an All Black school too from k-12 and I didn't have any problems!! I loved going to school every day 😊
