Just began building my 2nd fly rod and found your video while trying to decide on a scheme. I'm inspired to try this on my build. Thank you for taking the time to share, Brother!
A very explicit video and a careful work..!! I'm not a fan of this kind of decoration but it's very interesting to look at to know the manufacturing method... Again my school English doesn't allow me to understand all the explanations 😁😁
love this, new to rod building have done this wrap but no were as good but how do you finish the color high lights wraps seen the tape at each end, but you did not show how to finish the wrap of thread before epoxy was put on.
I did something like this about 2 years ago, but I saw a lot of things you did I didn’t think about doing. This is truly sharp, I loved the black, red and gold trim, I just did silver. I am definitely going to have to do another one and keep in mind what you did
not sure if this will get an answer but thought process as im going to build my own rod. with the dry wall tape if you do a super thin layer of paint over it and then pull it off would it leave a nice small diamond pattern behind? or would the paint get under the tape and or does it not apply properly? easy way for a pattern without thread is my thought.
Gary what brand of drywall tape did you use. The drywall tape that I've seen in the USA does not have the clear diamond pattern like the tape you used. Thanks!
Welp, i cant find or buy a fishing rod blank. Do i have to make my own or is there a way to use something commercially available as a fishing rod blank?

Fantastic Gary!!!!!!!! - I think I'm going to give this a shot on my next rod.
Cracking Gary. Great tutorial
Stunning! Will be looking for opportunities to include this in my builds. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely a Great Video
Looks amazing...
That looks really nice. But, how does one get the cork grips over that? I am just a beginner. I usually epoxy the grips and reel seat on first.
Does doing a wrap like that change the action of the rod? Does it stiffen up that section of the rod?

Gary, where can you find larger diameter metallic thread other than size D? Thanks!!
What kind of drywall tape is that? It doesn’t look like the traditional fiberglass tape it looks much more sturdy.
I'm curious what thread carriage is that? Who makes them?
Ball Park how much do you charge for a custom rod?
Good
