Very good square one and onwards video but, for a hobbyist or an occasional builder, I think you need to go back to square zero - as in doing this work without an automatic rod turner and where you might be wrapping bleed patterns. Yes, bleed patterns to liken fabric tartans; first coat of finish is important beyond belief and a different resin product, than for finishing at large, might be necessary. But working without an automatic rod turner. How often and for how long must you turn the rod for? I'm getting back into building after a 25 year gap and, due to my hands tending to cramp nowadays, I've bought a hand wrapper instead of the cardboard boxes I used years ago. But with about 8-10 rods ahead of me, I'm don't see an automatic rod turner as part of the deal. So how do you get the job done without one?

Put together a size 100 baitcaster setup. a bass rod, basically. tuns out one handed bass rods don't translate to pike rods, because pike are 4x bigger and takes are so savage, they pull the buttstock out of my armpit. Upsidaisy, I need a BUTT EXTENTION!

Can you make the blanks yourself? I don't think it's that difficult? The only question is how do you get the carbon off the steel blank?

Great video! I just picked up a 7ft rainshadow ultra light blank for building a BFS rod. I was a little concerned that it was a bit too whippy and was a bit nervous about trimming the tip down a little. I think I'm going to give it a go! Thanks for the confidence boost!

Very good tip for putting on decals. I've always used the Indian ink writing method but never used decals. Bit worried about them lifting with epoxy. The ones I have were bought from Guides and blanks ( came with the Harrison blank) so hopefully they'll not lift. Also putting on a flag. Hopefully again it will stay in place.🤞

I've seen a few videos on line but haven't found anything that I trust would be correct. Do you have any videos on painting bare blank rods or recommend a method and types of paint to use.

Can a clean snapped blank on a spiral rod be repaired?

Does doing a wrap like that change the action of the rod? Does it stiffen up that section of the rod?

Why do my threads all darken and the color is gone? The pros say not to use clolor protect as it keeps epoxy from soaking in. The threads burr up as sson as epoxy is applied. But now they have shrink wrap for guides. Any advice ? thanks!
