AWD all day errr day for drag racing. RS3's are absolute monsters. Owned an S3 and was on the waiting list to order an RS3 in 2018 and backed off. Just too small for me as a daily and I'd go TTRS if it was a fun part time car.

Skkrt should I buy a 2016 F Type R or a 2019 M2 Comp? If you could only have one which would it be? You're the only one who can give me experiential feedback here and I'm ready to buy one.
I've driven both, the F Type R is miles ahead of the M2 for a lot of reasons, unless you're looking for a strictly road course car.
@@SethFox94 yeah but is it overkill for a streetcar? Plus is it lower quality inside with the unusable trash infotainment? Plus no manuel.
First off, I commend you for narrowing it down to these two. I love both of them, so much in fact that it’s difficult to pick an absolute winner. I would say it’s situational, if you haven’t ever had an AWD or experienced a supercharged v8 then maybe the jag would be better to introduce those items. Same for the bmw, if you never had a straight 6 or any other M car then the M2 is the perfect car to introduce you to the brand. The only thing I would add is if you plan to track the car, get the m2.
I love videos like this that really show the prowess of the rs3. Bimmer guys just always dog the rs3 because it doesn't handle like the m2 comp, but, in every other metric it really did beat the m2 comp (its main competitor). Glad I got the rs3 over the regular m2 or the supra like I was looking at, m2 comp is amazing though and gorgeous and kudos for the manual. Every time I race manual rear wheel guys they use those two things as their main excuse. But act like I'm cheating because I'm awd and dct lol, its like "No I just like awd rally type cars" not drifting and doughnuts.
Yea the rs3 is a cool car, like you said it’s just different. If you dig race or need AWD then the RS3 is the car. But if you want an Autocross/track car with the option of manual then the M2 is the best option. Different strokes for different folks.
@@skrrtgarage3922 I drag race, roll race and love the interior. It doesn’t have a manual but it’s dct is top tier. Plus it’s an Rs model, the base m2 just didn’t feel special enough with that motor when I drove it.
Best part about the rs3 is the engine, wish it was in the rs5. The rs3 is a little small
I agree, BMW guys love to rag on every other manufacturer. But I will say, the B58 found in the new Supra and M340i (and can be AWD in the M340i) is pretty potent as well! But can’t beat that 5 cyl 🥰
I have the new RS3 and traded in an M2 Competition for it. The new RS3 handles every bit as good as the M2 did. In fact, I have a couple corners I like to take quickly when nobody is around, and I've taken both of them quicker in the RS3 than I ever did in the M2.
Audi's "Torque Splitter" hack on the RS3 seemed to really put the final piece of the puzzle into place in regard to Audi's infamous understeer. People that claim the M2 is far better at handling clearly haven't actually driven both a significant amount of time.

I have owned a tuned 2017 M140i for the past 4 years. It was running 455bhp/634nm through it's open diff. It was stupid fast, dangerously fast, but exciting, I loved it and once rolling, it would destroy any standard RS3, A45S, base 911's, Tesla's, RR SVR's, Aston Martin DB9's Merc C63S's, etc, just ridiculously fast.
Unfortunately the chassis was not quite on the same level as the amazing B58 engine and ZF8 box. I spun on a patch diesel on a dual carriageway (in traction off mode), and left the road backwards, totalling the car.
So, I have just bought a 2016 OG M2, mint condition, totally standard, low mileage.
The suspension, damping, steering, and handling are on another level, it is incredible. It feels a bit slow (which it would with only 365bhp), but the way it goes round corners is sooooo good, it probably covers ground faster than the M140i did. It looks amazing too, almost the perfect shape.

@@mry82 I do like the E46, but 'skipped' that generation. I had an E36 328i running 230bhp, beautiful car, upgraded the suspension, had M3 front splitter, it really did handle very well indeed.
Then I went to an E91 Msport which felt about a ton heavier and just wasn't even close to the E36 dynamically.
The M140i wasn't as terrible as some of the haters say (mine had adaptive suspension), but it did move around a hell of a lot, and I never had 100% confidence in the handling.
The new car might not be the ultimate in dynamics, but compared to the M140i it's sublime !!
I'm keeping it standard too, no mods, it's just too beautiful to ruin.

More horsepower won’t necessarily make your M2 faster. It will just wheel spin more at slower speeds and shift your useable traction power band further up the speed range. Depends if you want a street car or a roll racing track car
Yea, more power would make the dig races worse for sure. Like I said in the video, a manual m2 was never meant to be a roll race car
I have the 8Y RS3 and I traded in a 2020 M2 Competition for it, so I'm pretty familiar with both cars. The M2 has more torque, but the RS3 is still faster. There's no doubt about it. The RS3 is a little rocket.
That being said, the M2 is the more exhilarating car because it's RWD and you can get the manual transmission, but I like the RS3 overall more. The interior is way better, the stereo is INFINITELY better etc. Both great cars though.

And my tuned M140i absolutely DESTROYED any stage 1 RS3, so what is your point ?
I just bought a 2016 OG M2, and the way it goes round corners is unreal, so balanced, the damping is perfect, the steering is unreal. Ant clown can put his foot down in a straight line, zero skill required, real driving is in the corners.
