  • This video shows how to, first, sign up for a free trial on the Google Cloud Platform, and second, create an API key that you can subsequently plug into a CAT tool so you can link cloud translation with your CAT tool of choice and leverage machine translation on your projects. THE AGE OF ROBOTS HAS COME.

    Thanks a lot! So we can only use this service for free, until $300.00 run out right?

      @devingilbert  2 года назад +2

      For sure! I'm not honestly sure. My $300 ran out a while ago, and I've still been using it (but I run verrrrry little volume through it just with the occasional, small translation project) and I've never been charged.

    Thanks for sharing! This was really helpful to get me set up. Now I just need to figure out how to use it on an actual website.

    Thank you. No wonder why i cant use Trados and Omega.

      Yeah, getting the API key set up correctly is the first step. Once you have the API key, you'll be able to use it with both Trados Studio and OmegaT

    Thanks a lot! I really hope I don't exceed the free use limit and get charged for it... All this billing information wasn't very clear to me.

      Your're welcome! Interestingly enough, I use my API key still periodically (long after my year-long free trial period has expired), and I've never been charged by Google. Granted I don't use the key to translate very many words at all (and I really seldom use it), it still has been nice to use every now and then without being charged :)

    So I’m supposed to pay $300 before I can use it?

    • @devingilbert
      @devingilbert  10 месяцев назад

      The $300 is the free credit Google gives you to experiment with. You don't have to pay that up front.

    Great video. Don't they really charge you automatically after the trial, I get it right? I'm just building a small project for learning 1000 English words (for Ukrainians), to add to my portfolio, I think I'll be able to use it for free

    • @devingilbert
      @devingilbert  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! After the trial period, they only charge you if you use a certain volume, I believe. My trial period has been over for years, and I use the same API key occasionally to translate small texts, but I've never been charged.
      You should be fine. 1000 words isn't even close to the volume they would charge you for.

    Can u share your api key please in here?
    I need to translate my downloaded movie subtitle . I cant have api because i dont have cc to create bilinv

    • @devingilbert
      @devingilbert  3 года назад

      Sorry, but API keys are not something you share. You definitely are going to have to create your own API keys, as explained in the video.

      What a ridiculous question to ask...

    • @yassineabdelouafi

      api key is a personal key for each person , he can't share his apikey with us , cause you can simply create your own apikey easily as he explained in the video

  • @0transcendence971
    @0transcendence971 3 года назад +2

    and then.... there is no actual way to use that key in ur code and all documentations just send yo to service out auth lol

    • @devingilbert
      @devingilbert  3 года назад

      Haha, I'm sure that is a lot to figure out. I didn't create the API key to use in any code (I'm not much of a developer); I created it so that I could plug it into a computer aided translation (CAT) tool such as Trados Studio, MemoQ, or Omega T.
