theres something so cozy about the color palette and set design of this film despite it being a 'scary' movie, i love it.

It has a late 1960’s- early 1980’s, Amicus/Hammer horror feel.
As kids my sister and I crept down to the living room in the middle of the night and watched the 1972 Amicus film Asylum. It was the first horror film either of us had watched and one of final scenes in that film was so shocking to us.
These types of films lull us into a false sense of security. Often set in beautiful mansions where happy people might have once lived, but the drab colour palette feels decrepit and rotten. The the use of woodwind is often used….seemingly peaceful with a slightly off, discordance. It all feels otherworldly.
Tilda Swinton always brings that mystical performance in movies she's in. Always a treat to see her movies and the types of roles she plays like in Three Thousand Years of Longing and of course The Ancient One. All very mystical in their nature and I'm getting those same types of vibes from this.

It's definently more 70s, that's when the slow burn muted color atmosphere in horror mostly came from. The 80s is too goofy and 60s I'd say sure

@@Sazed0 the film is good though. It doesn’t need any correlations with the XX-s horrors just because it technically echoes with a mainstream perception of a genre’s attribution. A straight dualistic psychological thriller with Tilda’s and Joanna’s synergy at its best
Any movie with Tilda Swinton must be worth watching, one of the best actress of her generation though for some reason I feel like she's very underrated despite being an Oscar winner

Scorseses is listed as a producer..you don't seem to know what that means. Scorsese did not make the film, why would he make an A24 film lmao

Swinton is such a great actress! And seeing her playing both the mom and daughter, amazing! Look like a good movie to watch.

That thumbnail struck me with this weird nostalgia. As a child, I knew Tilda Switon as the White Witch. As a 22 year old, I recognize her voice from Max Richter’s “The Blue Notebooks” album. And the lighting made her look like Old Claudia from Dark - which is a show burned into my mind. Amazing how memories work

Tilda Swinton is a goddess of acting. She can do things most actors cannot. Swinton can play anything and anyone perfectly. I just finished watching Three Thousand Years of Longing. It was a joy to watch her with the amazing Idris Elba. So many spellbinding moments of cinema thanks to her talent in Orlando, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Julia, Michael Clayton, Suspiria and all her other magnificent movies.

It's a ghost story but for some reason I don't feel afraid. Very intriguing watch for sure, and no doubt Tilda Swinton's performance would be brilliant as well.

@@CoolGobyFish No, he was meant to be male. That's the way he was written in the book, and people in the Elizabethan Era had a very different idea of male beauty than we do today. Androgyny was fashionable.
