Legend has it, that Indian horses were in shod, and ridden bareback. In many westerns - including this one - there are western saddles under the blankets on the Indian horses. The saddle horns protrude the leading edge of the blankets. Tsk, tsk, tsk! Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
Geronimo was never a chief of any tribe. Several Apaches did leave their tribes to join him. Geronimo while a fierce warrior had been captured several times. So much for giving his life for a cause.
Does anyone know of a Western classic where one of the main characters pretends to be a bandit or something like that, and then he reveals himself later on in the movie, I think it starred Van Heflin, or Dan Duryea (I think).
Arizona was not known for gold. From Tucson to Tombstone was know for silver mining .After gold was discovered in California, all the miner’s went to California.
I suggest you read “ Nine Years Among The Indians”. The Apache activities cited were about killing and stealing, just common street thug actions. Honorable activity was quickly stamped out. Thuggery was honored. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
At the start narrator comments on the coming of civilization,,, in many ways all the various native American tribes were actually much more civilized than the encroaching european invaders
No different when the Argentinian president join Brazil and Uruguay on the called Triple Alliance, that they were againts the Paraguayans to civilized them, when Paraguay was the only country in the Americas with the highest alphabetism, and the Cowards Argentinians were the uncivilized, even having the first foundry in Sth America that not even the brave Argentinian didn't have. That was a genocide against the brave Paraguayans caused by the Brazilian, Argentinians and in a minor scale the Uruguayans.
a competent experienced 03 is replaced by an obviously incompetent inexperienced 04 who then leads his entire Sqdn into an ambush only happens in movies, or does it??
Is it because an aborigine or natives of a land greatly resist an invader's standard of living that is being forced on them that they are uncivilized or savages?
Some will say that I am an Indian lover, but I say that isn’t true! What I do know is that it was the white man taught the Indians to scalp, plunder, kill, etc all for greed! I believe that if we had better men, the Indians would not have had to fight so hard and end up on reservations! I think it’s an autraucity! I believe there were really good men back then who really cared and wanted to help bring peace, but because of greedy men, that didn’t happen! 😢😢😢
I'm part Apache. I don't buy the notion that Native Amercans didn't know brutal violence or warfare until the white man came along. Tribes were already fighting against each other.
"What I do know is that it was the white man taught the Indians to scalp, plunder, kill, etc ..." Historians and Archeologists have found evidence of scalping by Native Americans long before the white man came to the Americas.

Apache was known for the trustful and most friendly, but the liar make it broke
And they were reputed to be great fighters. Even the Cossacks of the Russian Steppe would be humbled.

I love the apache

Geronimo speaking Spanish. Seems legit.
Except that’s exactly what happened

As I am watching this movie, I am reminded of what the Israel nation is now going through. SAD.

Indians don't surrender!
Apache were warriors. Not farmers.
They had to eat something. Fighting wars does not provide food.
Captain Chase McCloud is about as naive, gullible, and oblivious to reality as a person could possibly be. He isn’t fit to be a buck private.
