I also live alone on a narrow boat. Your love of the English countryside, nature and your dog is touching. My dog passed away two weeks ago and I am finding it very difficult. Every moment with these precious, beautiful animals is to be treasured.
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. There is a void when they leave us which can only be filled in time with another furry friend. I feel your pain. But know that eventually you will not only find some peace but another little friend to share your life with. Bless you…
I can completely understand why you are finding it so difficult. There is a unique and special bond between the human and their dog. They complete the family, don't they? I hope you can conjure up all of the wonderful memories that you shared together and as time passes, I'm sure those memories will be met with complete happiness rather than the pain of loss. I wish you all the best. Take care 🌻🦋
You have a lovely, caring heart Vanessa. I love watching your journey, seeing how much you care about your surroundings and the abundance of nature therein. Thank you for making my week every week. Zephyr such a scene stealer lol bless you both.
My weekly de stressing dose of nature and tranquility in a mad mad world, a truly gentle and lovely person, thank you for your videos, long may they continue.
I've decided you're not really a narrow boater. You're an artist and a naturist who happens to live on a narrow boat. It's really amazing how much variety is all around you all the time. The wings of that Skipper butterfly were just gorgeous in their coloring and the way the patterns were laid out. I like how you show lots of different types of insects. It's mind-boggling when you watch one, to realize what they have to have in them to do what they do. The sheer functionality at such a small scale is incredible. And it's everywhere, like it's no big deal, but really if you think about it, we're surrounded by miracles. I'm so glad you like to document all these little miracles and share them with us. Oh and I SO appreciate your taste in music to accompany your videos. It fits perfectly. You and your faithful sidekick are a blessing Vanessa, thank you again!
Hi Mark, thank you so much for your kind comment. The Skipper is such a gorgeous, little butterfly and it literally skips along the flowers which is so pretty to watch. We are indeed surrounded by miracles and it is the most exciting thing when we uncover them here and there. Have a super weekend. Take care 🌻🦋
I know I'm a bit strange but that weather seems marvelous! I'm in Maryland and the past few weeks we've been having temperatures hovering near 40C for highs and 25-26 for lows. I was not built for hot weather but that's where my job is. What I wouldn't give to escape to the English countryside; drizzle and all! 😁 Thanks for a lovely video, I feel cooler just watching it.
I'm the same @indeedgrasshopper, hot weather makes me feel ill, and believe it or not we have just had three hot days. I've just woken up and the outlook today is dull and rainy/drizzle., in the same area as this video.
@davidevanson Big thanks to your brother in law and the other volunteers for restoring the mill. So much history would be lost without people like them 🤎
you are a good mom, getting the ball. bravo, you are queen of the narrowboats and your kingdom is the canal and all its beauty. have a good and wonderful weekend. give Zeph a hug and kiss from me.
Hi Vanessa, the weather might be dreary, and you might be feeling weary, but your videos make me cheery! So chin up me deary and never mind the rain. 😜. I really don’t know where that came from!😂 I have loads of the Field Study guides too. They’re brilliant for taking out and about. But mostly I use my iPhone for ID it’s getting more accurate at identifying bugs, wildflowers, even dog breeds! Also the Merlin app is great for birdsong. I wish I could write poetry and draw like you though. Thank you so much for all your hard work in putting out these videos. 😊❤.
I think your rhyming comment is just wonderful! You can write poetry and draw, Pauline, you just need to allow yourself some mindful time to do it.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
My black Labrador Chocky (now in heaven ) was so ball obsessed I once couldn’t find any balls so looked under my bed and found 22 various balls 🎾 🥎 🟠 🟢 🔵 ⭕️ 🎾🎾🎾🥎 I had to put timber 100mm panels under all my furniture as I got sick of fishing them out from under everything. Miss throwing him the ball 100 times per day plus 😊zeph is gorgeous. If you lived in Aus I’d send zeph my 3 boxes of toys as my current lab doesn’t play with toys at all and I don’t plan on getting any other dogs as I’ll be travelling the world when my Milo crosses to heaven. I’ll donate them to the pound instead I think. Thanks for sharing zeph with us she’s just gorgeous and I love your adventures- greetings from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺 xxxxx
Chocky sounds like he was such a wonderful character. How funny that he used to store all of his balls in such a safe place. I wish Zephyr would start doing that! 🐾🐾😂 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care🦋🌻
Thanks for posting your positive vibes from where you are. You project calm and care. I love your relationship with Zephyr, each of you seem to understand the other. I'm envious! Also, I must say that your photography is truly engaging, I have a new appreciation for the tiny creatures that you encounter, and you certainly get full marks for putting your camera to the test! Telephoto for the far off Herons and all the way in to macro for the insects and blooming flowers. Thanks again!
What a lovely comment- thank you so much! I think spending every hour of every day with Zephyr, pretty much in the last 5 years, has really cemented our bond. She is such wonderful company. Have a super rest of the weekend and week ahead. Take care 🌻🦋🐾🐾
I'm glad to see the ice cream boat is still about.I used to regularly see them around the Grand Union especially in Stoke Bruerne .It is run by a lovely old couple, probably no older than me! I have not seen them for several years. They must be trading closer to base as they kept the boat somewhere in Cheshire in the winter. They would go home to the Canaries in winter by driving all the way to Cadiz in southern Spain in their motorhome and then catch the ferry to the Canaries.I see they now have a butty as well. The ice cream was lovely.Another brilliant vlog and featuring the lovely Zephyr.Hope today hasn't been too hot for you.
Wow! What an amazing couple and what a great story too. They must be doing well to have introduced a butty boat as well.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
What a great review of the the old mill with the history of grinding wheat into flour and their living quarters 🛏🪣 is it me but does it seem there are less butterflies 🦋 this year maybe it's all the rain we've having. Have a lovely weekend 🥎🐕🌼🪲🐌🐾
Hi Simon, it is a fabulous mill to visit and the flour is really lovely too. There are definitely less butterflies this year and I put it down to the weather too. Thank you for your kind comment. Have a super weekend. 🌻🦋
One of my favourite things when holidaying on the narrow boats was getting up early and taking my cup of tea up on the deck and watching the mist on the canal and the ducks and moorhens with their young.
The way you share your vision of life puts balance in mine and for that I'm grateful. Also, thank you to Vince who mentioned you in one of his videos at just the right moment. Sometimes just a few words said with good intentions can change a persons outlook and add value to their life. Thanks, thanks to both of you.
Your curiosity and investigative approach in uncovering the purpose of the new building are truly commendable. The way you delve into the details and share your findings with such clarity not only satisfies our curiosity but also engages us in the story behind the structure. Your ability to turn a simple question into an intriguing exploration is truly impressive. And I am Floating Village Life
...the magical piano music so suitable for such a magical vlog...loved the glimpse into Heron family life, what a calm bunch they are! ...and the homemade accidentally gigantic scone! Wonder why people spent so much effort grinding grain in the past when it cooks perfectly fine whole [!]. I was separating wheat and chaff this week manually myself, having accidentally grown wheat in the garden by placing the wheatgrass mats there to tame the unmowed grass, what a coincidence you showed us it being done! I hope Zeph isn't really throwing it in on purpose, ....!
Thanks for the personal mention this week Vanessa. We were batting last night but only had Common and Soprano Pipistrelle bats at home. We hope to get more bats on the cut when our new boat is signwritten this week and ready for collection shortly after. Alexandra says your Blog reminds her of a book she read as a child "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" Thanks again for everything, Alexandra and Darren x
I am sure you will get lots more bats along the water. The Daubentons is a popular one here. I mention Edith Holden in the Introduction to my 2023 book which is spooky! It was so nice to meet you both and I wish you all the luck in the world with your boaty adventures.Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care🦋🌻
Dear Vanessa, Zephyr and Alice Grace, I watched another RUclips, the other day, which explained why there were so many antique working narrowboats on the canal. Braunston / Braunston Marina were holding their annual historic narrowboat parade. Vanessa I got thinking about why narrowboats are difficult to maneuver while moving in reverse. Your skills as a helms"person" are not at fault so please don't be hard on yourself. When a narrowboat is being turned, while moving forward, the stern pivots about its bow. Think of the bow being pinned in place and the stern is moving around that pivot point. While going in reverse, one is attempting to move the entire length of the boat about the point where the prop is. In other words one is attempting to move a long lever arm about a pivot point with the short remaining length of the lever arm. I hope this helps explain the mechanics. If you know of a different answer please let me know. Have an absolutely sensational week and maybe get a string attached to Zephyr's ball and the other end attached to her collar LOL. Hugs to you, Zephyr and Alice Grace. Mark Alberta, Canada
Thanks to the chap and other volunteers who saved the mill 🤎 Imagine how much history would be lost if it were not for such forward thinking people. Thanks for the tip about the wildlife cards. I'll have to get some
Volunteers like that really amaze me; it's just brilliant to hear stories like that isn't it? I totally recommend the wildlife cards too.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Really liked the mill and the ice cream boat. I have seen very few butterflies this year compared with the last couple of years, good on you for counting them. Thank you.
That’s so beautiful thankyou for sharing that ,and your photography is brilliant to capture the herons like that never seen so many at once i see one on the broads who regular flys over on its own so very graceful ,best wishes robert.
I just love your gentle canal adventures, they suit my pace. I never did like rushing around. Oh what we miss, when we get greedy for input. I love to move as though I have all the time in the world, I don’t get so much done but I do enjoy the world so much more.
I loved watching the snail as he glided through the raindrops on your window! 🐌🌦 And a charm of finches lined up like musical notes on the power line (no doubt singing a melody) 🎼🎶! 🐦🐦🐦And Zephyr sure loves his ball(s)! 🐕🟢🔵🟣🔴 Unusual to see a Siege of Herons. They must be fledglings? I love your homemade accidentally large scone! It looked delicious!
I think they were fledgling herons too; it was lovely to see them together like that. The snail had me captivated! 🥰🐌 Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Jenny. Take care 🦋🌻
Very nice! Your dog loves you! I would love to spend a few days fishing in those canals, I know there are some very large pike swimming around in those waterways!
Well now. You had some heavy rain at times on that cruise, but I reckon by now it's fairly hot. Been around 30 c down here for much of the past week. Poor Zephyr. Fancy losing two balls, including the squeaky one. Then dropping them into the water and expecting you to fish them out. That was a great game! Lovely video, Vanessa. Full of interest at 3 every turn.
It was hot here for one day which was lovely, but it's back to cold and rain in the NW.Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care🦋🌻
Good evening Vanessa I hope you’re okay and keeping well and that you’ve had a good week - I’ve been in my room all day as the heat is 30° and my multiple sclerosis doesn’t like it so I’m staying in my room with the two fans going - also to let you know I have my tooth out yesterday. It cost £179 thank goodness for the bank of mum and dad - just a quick call to say hello I’m now going to settle down and watch your Vlog/video - sending loads of love and loads of hugs as always ~ Xxx Xxx
Do you have a private email account to post to the creator of this blog? Your comments regarding your health show up each week when the video is first released and are very heart rendering. Perhaps Vanessa is too polite to tell you to send her a DM.
Hi Louise, I hope you managed to settle down and enjoy the vlog. The price of the dentist is unbelievable isn't it? If ever you want to email me my email is: themindfulnarrowboat@gmail.com. Take care 🌻🦋
Wow! That gigantic scone looked good enough to eat with all that butter and jam on it. Haven't had a good one since I was there in the mid 60s. I'm certainly getting an education on the flora and fauna that own the canal system. The Bunbury Mill is especially interesting in that I've always had an interest in water power and it's uses.
The Bunbury Mill is such an excellent place to visit. I can't believe they are still making flour there too, it made for a delicious scone.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Glad you saw a winnower. It is used in a local song that is popular worldwide, Goes like this " A winnower, a winnower. In the jungle the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight."
I love the relaxing life on your narrowboat, and, being a nature lover, I say thankyou. This old Australian lady would love to live on a narrowboat for a while.
Ah my Saturday morning is now complete, a cup of good coffee and Vanessa's vlog. 😊 Love Zephyr's excitement when her ball comes out. Your flower garden is looking lovely and that scone looked scrumptious. Have a good week xx
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day. Zephyr is never happier than when she has a ball to chase and throw in the water!Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
Thanks Vanessa, for taking us along on this beautiful cruise, I'm sorry that I'm a bit behind with your vlogs so I will be playing catch up. Have a coffee on me. Take care and all the best. Stevie ❤
That is so kind of you, Stevie, but you don't need to apologise for being behind. There is no pressure to watch my vlogs and they will always be there whenever you are ready.Thank you so much. Take care 🌻🦋
How kind you always are sharing yr days and cruises with us and such a shame you didn’t see more butterflies but there have not been to many about glad Zepher got a ball she does love them tc nowthe oldies 🤗🤗👍🌷🌹🌺
The jet stream has shifted finally. Gone up north can expect warmer air from the south. Too hot for me today 26°c loads of sun. Liverpool 19/07/24. Love yr vlogs Vanessa 😊
Another great vlog ! It looks like your UK summer is like our Aussie winter here. About a year ago I started 'mindfulness' and it has been transformative. At 75 it's a late start - but better late than never. Your weekly vlogs inspire and give my efforts a big boost - not to mention your extraordinary drawing and poem-writing talents.
That is a good comparison! It was sunny today though which was such a nice surprise. I think it's wonderful that you are practising mindfulness; it is such a great way to get more out of life and not focus on the worries.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
Nice relaxing vlog, Loved Zephyrs face when you gave her the ball magic!!, I do like a mill especially wind Mills went to the top of one I Lincolnshire in 2018 made my year,Only seen 2 butterflies all year up to now, A scone on the biscuit challenge well we both lost incidentally I only said to my wife earlier this week I've not had a Derby scone for some years, Have a good week and stay safe.😊
Hi Robert, I bet that must have been amazing at the top of the windmill! How funny that you had been talking about scones... I must have picked up on those vibes.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
I really love your vlogs. I am returning from New Zealand in a couple of months and considering what the next episode of my life will be. You make narrow boating very appealing . You make the lifestyle appear very relaxing, just what I am looking for after a stressful career in Government. Beautiful lady with a beautiful life. Thank you for the vlogs, many more to come i hope....
I hope you find your next adventure soon. Narrowboat life is not without its stresses but neither is life is it? I think the positive far outweigh the negatives too. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I wish you all the best. Take care 🦋🌻
I used to fish in the Kennet & Avon Canal down Aldermaston way when I was a young boy early 1960s ! It was derelict but so extremely beautiful with ferns etc growing from the ancient wooden lock gates ! One day I chose to fish in a closed lock where I expected there be about at least twelve feet of water ! There was but eighteen inches , the remaining depth just silted up ! No matter as I now understand that canal is slowly becoming more navigable as its hopefully restored to its former self ! Thank you you for another lovely video report !
Lovely lovely lovely. Yet again a beautiful vlog. Ironically next week it’ll be summer dresses and just how you can’t keep cool in a steel tube 🥵🤣🤣 Have a beautiful week ☀️🐝🌼
There’s not many butterflies about at the moment I saw one yesterday a red admiral but that the only one, not many bees about also, nice to see you popping through the village Bunbury where I live, shame the locks aren’t nearer 😊
Last year red admiral numbers were up by 400% but this year, like you, I have only seen 1. It might be the same one as you if you live on Bunbury.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Interesting to see the area again Vanessa. The last time I was on this stretch of the Shroppie was in 1974, still much of the rural scene looks similar to what I remember. When I was at Bunbury the sun was shining, but the mill was derelict. Lovely that it has been restored and it looks very lovely and interesting. Makes me feel old which indeed I am! Love to you and Zephyr from Blaze and me xxx
I can't imagine the mill lying derelict now that I have seen it a working and restored like that. How amazing to see the progress. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Rex and Blaze. Take care 🦋🌻
I had wondered why I haven’t seen that many butterflies but makes sense now 😢 I do hope weather improves so I can admire some. Lovely vlog as always and have a lovely week ahead ❤❤❤
I hope the weather improves too. It looks like it will for most of the UK apart from where I am at the moment! 😂 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🦋🌻
Another interesting and relaxing vlog. Regarding your butterfly count, while living in the Ohio Valley here in the US 2 years back I volunteered to conduct a count of the southerly migrating Monarch butterflies (the southwestern part of Ohio is in their fall migration path). Sitting on my front porch on a beautiful mid-October morning i counted over 200 Monarchs fluttering by within my view over the required one hour period. It was a very relaxing and rewarding exercise. Take care!
200 Monarch butterflies! 🤩 That must have been an amazing sight. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🦋🌻
Hello,I'm late watching last week's gorgeous video...I've had a few days up on the Moray coast with my daughter and family...Did some lovely beach walks.Home now,so that great video has cheered me up.Have a wonderful week, look forward to watching Friday s RUclips.Thank you so much.love to you all from Walter cat and me xxxx
Well done and beautiful as always. I always enjoy the little trips to the villages and towns and the flour mill tour was very interesting. The scone and jam looked delicious 😅! Take care and safe journeys 🦮🐛
Hello again! Another week where I'm late...this time it was due to a spate of projects around the house that could no longer be put off. It's good to be watching again! Enjoyed Zephyr's antics, she's such a joy to watch. Really enjoyed seeing Bunbury, what a beautiful place. I've always been fascinated to learn the origins of common words and phrases. I was of course familiar with "Separate the wheat from the chaff", but it was wonderful to learn the origin of "Sleep tight". You were very kind to that froghopper, returning him to nature. All in all, a great episode. Thanks again, and best wishes, as always!
I was excited to find out about the origins of the "sleep tight" saying too. The froghopper was such a delightful, unexpected guest but I think it preferred it outside to being inside the narrowboat. Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the week. Take care 🌻🦋
Another fabulous vlog, I think next weeks vlog will be a sunnier one as we are having a bit of a heatwave this week. I didn’t see many butterflies either, my budlea is normally full of lots but this year only cabbage whites and a brimstone. Zephyr is such a lovely dog, she gets through a lot of balls! Your artwork and poem were beautiful this week. Take care Vanessa. xxx
Hi Shirley, I hope the sun brings the red admirals and peacocks to your budlea too. I am pleased to hear that you have some brimstones though as I haven't seen many of them either.Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
Hi Margaret, I think the young herons past the inconspicuous test with flying colours! 😂 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🦋🌻
Your summer is looking like our winter! As I write this the cold wind and the rain rattle on the tin roof and the frogs in the pond are going beserk! I like the beautiful shots of the butterflies and especially that still shot of Zephyr in the grass (that's a keeper). Nice soundtrack too...and what a scrumptious looking scone! Thanks for another gorgeous video.
The sound of wind and rain on a tin roof is so cosy. We actually had some sunshine today and it made such a difference to the landscape.Thank you so much for watching. Have a super weekend. Take care 🦋🌻
Zeph and your dog sound like they would have a wail of a time together as long as they each had their own ball!Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the week. Take care 🌻🦋
Hi Vanessa, you need to buy two ROND ANCHORS which do a better job than pins for mooring. They are like an old fashioned anchor but with only one fluke. Shaped like a “J” with a ring at the top they embed themselves in deeper the stronger the pull. I used them for 20 years constantly cruising and NEVER had one pull out. In soft ground they are invaluable giving as much confidence as ARMCO mooring. Capt John.
Those Rond Anchors look amazing! I have just researched them after what you have written. I'll try and get hold of some now. Thank you so much for your great comment. Take care 🌻🦋
Yes it's been a pretty poor summer hasn't it Vanessa, it makes me more grateful for the nice days we have had recently. The butterflies have certainly suffered this year. Thank you again for such an interesting video, I loved the mill and it's wonderful history. Here's to a nice September!
I’m from the US and spend every July in Oxford. I’ve been here two weeks and amazed at the cool, rainy temperatures. But the gardens are lush and beautiful.
Thank you so much for sharing the Mill! I very much enjoyed that! We went to the Saint Louis Zoo , USA , yesterday and walked in their Butterfly dome. It was lovely!❤Again thank you!
the attention to detail in your videos is astounding . like for instance you make a point about putting your coat on gives the viewer a moment to feel that cold wind.
If you enjoyed the food at The Badger in Church Minshull, then be sure to moor up close to The Shady (Oak) just outside Beeston on the way to Chester if you head that way 👍😎
You found the sun at last! We can learn a lot from Zeph - appreciate the little things in life 🙂. She must be the best travelling companion for sure and I hope you are surviving this mini heat surge. It’s been a strange summer for sure xxx
Zephyr is the best travelling companion and there is never a dull moment with her around. 🐾🐾💚 The weather has been glorious today but I have just heard that the North West is going to be wet and cold while the rest of the UK is hot next week! 🙈 I might be wrong though.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
I must say, I have thoroughly enjoyed your blogs. The videography, the commentary, poetry and drawing are most delightful. He did not know there was such a great extentThe network as there is. I find them absolutely stunningly scenic. I'm a big fan of being on the water, so to speak, lakes and such. I have never considered canals, but I can see the value and the rest fullness of it. I do like your books and find them delightful. I would like to purchase one for my daughter, Rachel, who definitely would appreciate it even more than me. I will pursue that end by just checking through the links and such. You continue your journey and the sharing thereof. Your fan: Hank.
I also live alone on a narrow boat. Your love of the English countryside, nature and your dog is touching. My dog passed away two weeks ago and I am finding it very difficult. Every moment with these precious, beautiful animals is to be treasured.

What a kind reply. Thank you so much. 🌻🦋
I’m so sorry for your loss 😢
@thecentralscrutinizer1758 such a heartfelt comment…even in sorrow are dogs connect us together…it’s wonderful 🐶💕
You have a lovely, caring heart Vanessa. I love watching your journey, seeing how much you care about your surroundings and the abundance of nature therein. Thank you for making my week every week. Zephyr such a scene stealer lol bless you both.
That is such a kind thing to say. I am so pleased that you enjoy the vlogs.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
The morning shot of mist on the canal and the wood pigeon calling in the background was just beautiful. Thank you.
I am not often awake at that time but I am so glad I was that morning.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
My weekly de stressing dose of nature and tranquility in a mad mad world, a truly gentle and lovely person, thank you for your videos, long may they continue.

Zephyr looks delighted that she's trained her human to fetch! Thanks again Vanessa for a much needed moment of calm in a hectic world.
She trained me very quickly! 😂🐾🐾Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Bunbury I meant 😂
It's lovely that you can make Zeph happy through doing something as simple as fishing out a new ball for her.
My local cricket club whose pitch is right next to the River Aire have a long pole with kitchen sieve on the end - ideal for retrieving balls
That is so true! 🐾🐾💚Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋

I'm the same @indeedgrasshopper, hot weather makes me feel ill, and believe it or not we have just had three hot days. I've just woken up and the outlook today is dull and rainy/drizzle., in the same area as this video.
The world needs more people like you who respect and love nature. Thank you for another beautiful video❤

She does make our world so much better 😁🌞👍🏻
Love your camera work and your passion for it all. Your drawing skills are something special. Very envious
That is so kind of you- thank you so much! Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🌻🦋
I love how gently Zephyr took the ball from you. ❤
She is so gentle isn't she? Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🌻🦋
Our fox red lab wouldve taken your fingers off!! Might you hes only young
HI Vanessa, just to say that my brother in law helped to restore the mill you have visited,I love coming on a canal boat with you, love you.
@davidevanson Big thanks to your brother in law and the other volunteers for restoring the mill. So much history would be lost without people like them 🤎
Wow! I am so pleased that he did as it is such an amazing place to visit!Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
I totally agree!Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋

She loved her hug! 🐾🐾Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Take care🦋🌻
Hi Vanessa, just wanted to say how wonderful your book is. Thank you for sharing your adventures
I am so pleased that you like it, Jackie. Thank you so much for buying it. Take care 🦋🌻
I can see why that was. It is so peaceful in the mornings. Thank you for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
I absolutely will not digress this time around 😊 and simply say... Bliss.
You are so kind! Thank you so much. Have a super weekend. Take care 🌻🦋
Well done and Congratulations for filming narrating editing producing another award winning video 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤🎉❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊 Thankyou
That is so kind of you! Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🌻🦋
You and your videos are truly an amazing tonic, Thank You 😊
That is so lovely to know. Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🦋🌻
All three chasing after the ice cream boat 🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅😅 Does it have the ice cream van tune going ?😅😅❤❤😊😊
It doesn’t but what a wonderful idea! Thank you so much for watching. Take care🌻🦋
The way you share your vision of life puts balance in mine and for that I'm grateful. Also, thank you to Vince who mentioned you in one of his videos at just the right moment. Sometimes just a few words said with good intentions can change a persons outlook and add value to their life. Thanks, thanks to both of you.
Bless, Vince- he is so kind. I am so pleased that you are enjoying the vlogs.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
And I am Floating Village Life
That is so kind of you. Thank you so much Floating Village Life. Take care 🌻🦋
...the magical piano music so suitable for such a magical vlog...loved the glimpse into Heron family life, what a calm bunch they are! ...and the homemade accidentally gigantic scone!
How exciting that your wheatgrass mats did that! 🤩 Thank you for your lovely comment, Mary. Have a super week. Take care 🌻🦋
Thanks for the personal mention this week Vanessa. We were batting last night but only had Common and Soprano Pipistrelle bats at home. We hope to get more bats on the cut when our new boat is signwritten this week and ready for collection shortly after.
Alexandra says your Blog reminds her of a book she read as a child "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady"
Thanks again for everything, Alexandra and Darren x
I am sure you will get lots more bats along the water. The Daubentons is a popular one here. I mention Edith Holden in the Introduction to my 2023 book which is spooky! It was so nice to meet you both and I wish you all the luck in the world with your boaty adventures.Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care🦋🌻
Dear Vanessa, Zephyr and Alice Grace,
I watched another RUclips, the other day, which explained why there were so many antique working narrowboats on the canal.
Mark
Alberta, Canada
What a great description of the mechanics! I had no idea all of that was going on.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Thank you.
Hi Andrew, I am so pleased that you enjoyed the mill. It was a great place to visit.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Lovely. That scone was so beautiful. I bet it was delicious hello Zeph!
It was. The flour at Bunbury Mill has a real nutty flavour to it.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
Thank you Vanessa, your videos are poems for listening ears and fill the eyes of the beholder with grace
That is such a kind thing to say! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care🦋🌻
Absolutely beautiful photography, commentary and insights into the surroundings in which you travel and experience. Wonderful!!
That is such a kind comment- thank you so much! Take care 🌻🦋
That’s so beautiful thankyou for sharing that ,and your photography is brilliant to capture the herons like that never seen so many at once i see one on the broads who regular flys over on its own so very graceful ,best wishes robert.
Hi Robert, I am so pleased that you enjoyed the vlog.Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋

It was yum! 😋Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
I really love what you see and how you show it…Wonderful editing and such enriching music choices…Thank you for all your wondrous efforts 👍🏻😁🌞👏🏻
That is so kind of you, Steve. Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🌻🦋
I just love your gentle canal adventures, they suit my pace. I never did like rushing around. Oh what we miss, when we get greedy for input. I love to move as though I have all the time in the world, I don’t get so much done but I do enjoy the world so much more.
Slow is the best pace isn't it?Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Great video really enjoyed it. I always look forward to your videos
That is so kind of you!Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Nice ending. Cheers and thanks for sharing your day with us.
You are very welcome!Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Another nice vid completing the lovely Middlewich Branch, nice wildlife & zephyr got his 🥎, & what a lovely gigantic Scone😋 Enjoy the Shroppie 😊
Thank you so much! Take care 🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat You too. Have a great weekend!
Very nice! Your dog loves you! I would love to spend a few days fishing in those canals, I know there are some very large pike swimming around in those waterways!
Pike are fantastic fish aren't they? Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Take care🦋🌻
Just another fantastic video….full of nature’s wonders !!
I am so pleased that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
Beautiful relaxing video. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Take care 🌻🦋
Just love the way you draw Gods creations 🇦🇺👍🙏
Thank you so much, Robin!
Beautiful wonders of nature in such a great way 👍🏻😁🌞🦋
Again a beautiful video makes me feel so relaxed watching them thank you x tq
I’m so pleased that it made you feel relaxed. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🦋🌻
Glad you saw a winnower. It is used in a local song that is popular worldwide, Goes like this " A winnower, a winnower. In the jungle the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight."
😂 Very clever, Barry! I saw a quidandbob of guinea fowl today and thought of you. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🦋🌻
I love the relaxing life on your narrowboat, and, being a nature lover, I say thankyou. This old Australian lady would love to live on a narrowboat for a while.
That is so kind of you, Suzanne! You have some amazing wildlife where you are.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
It is a pleasure to share my cruises with you, Ann. Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
The jet stream has shifted finally. Gone up north can expect warmer air from the south. Too hot for me today 26°c loads of sun. Liverpool 19/07/24. Love yr vlogs Vanessa 😊
It is so nice to see the sun in the sky! 🥰Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment too, Irene. Take care 🌻🦋
Zephyr is definitely “accidentally” dropping her ball in the water and she is so happy 😂. Lovely, informative video as ever. Thank you Venessa.
She is isn't she! 😂🐾🐾 She is so cheeky.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
How wonderful to see the canal change like that over time. It is a great part of the system.Thank you so much for watching, Robert. Take care 🌻🦋
That was a loverley poetic summery summary of summer so far.
I like what you did there! Thank you so much. Take care 🌻🦋
That’s exactly what I’m having while watching your video. So funny. Tea with bread, butter and marmalade ❤my favorite!
That is spooky!Thank you so much for watching. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care🦋🌻
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you Vanessa 🙏 good story 😍.
Thank you so much for your kind comment. Take care🌻🦋
Very relaxing video, as thay all are. Thank you for sharing your travels. Keep safe and enjoy your travels. All the best Gordon. 👌👌👌👌👌
That is very kind of you, Gordon. Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
Lovely lovely lovely.
Yet again a beautiful vlog.
Ironically next week it’ll be summer dresses and just how you can’t keep cool in a steel tube 🥵🤣🤣
Have a beautiful week ☀️🐝🌼
That is such a good idea and I might pinch that title: 'How to Stay Cool in a Steel Tube.' Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Very calming, accompanying you on your boat, thank you for sharing x
Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a super rest of the week. Take care 🌻🦋
Loved the approach to Brickyard Bridge 6 and butterflies
It is a pretty stretch of canal isn't it?Thank you so much for watching.

Thanks, amazing. ✌🏻👊🏼
Thank you so much! Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🌻🦋
Well done and beautiful as always. I always enjoy the little trips to the villages and towns and the flour mill tour was very interesting. The scone and jam looked delicious 😅! Take care and safe journeys 🦮🐛
I am so pleased that you enjoyed the vlog, John!Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
We have gold finch, I love that they are a charm! Thanks for the info.
They are such striking birds aren't they?Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
Bless her her new ball
Inconspicuous herons - love that! Beautiful vlog even in the rain 🌧 Enjoy your weekend whatever the weather 🙏
Hello just to say I received my book yesterday it's absolutely beautiful thank you for such an amazing talent 💜
I am so pleased that it arrived and you like it, Debbie. Thank you so much for buying it. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🌻🦋
Beautiful as always. Zeph is adorable and like my dog lives for her ball. Such a beautiful time to be on a narrowboat xx
The recent good weather has definitely brought out some more butterflies and insects. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Take care 🦋🌻
Great vlog Vanessa , zephyr is so happy with a soggy ball bless her.. stay safe and have a great weekend. 🙏
Stay safe and have a great weekend too, Billy.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
I’m from the US and spend every July in Oxford. I’ve been here two weeks and amazed at the cool, rainy temperatures. But the gardens are lush and beautiful.
It does make for a lush landscape- you're right! I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay here.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Thank you so much for sharing the Mill! I very much enjoyed that! We went to the Saint Louis Zoo , USA , yesterday and walked in their Butterfly dome. It was lovely!❤Again thank you!
I bet it was special in the butterfly dome; there must have been some incredible butterflies in there? Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
the attention to detail in your videos is astounding . like for instance you make a point about putting your coat on gives the viewer a moment to feel that cold wind.
Thank you so much- that is so kind of you. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🦋🌻
If you enjoyed the food at The Badger in Church Minshull, then be sure to moor up close to The Shady (Oak) just outside Beeston on the way to Chester if you head that way 👍😎
Is the food good there?Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Lovely video! The canals are so beautiful! You give them life teaching us about plant life and the wildlife. Thank you ❤
That is so kind of you, Christine. It is a pleasure to cruise along these waterways.Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat Have a great weekend.
What a smashing video content creation at its best .well done lass

Vanessa, your videos are a delight to watch 😊 You are so appreciated, many thanks to you 🦋
That is so kind of you, Erica! Thank you so much. Take care 🦋🌻
What a kind comment, Hank! Thank you so much. Have a super rest of the week. Take care 🦋🌻
