The reason Eren looked so scared when he kissed Historia's hand was because not only did he see his dad kill the family, but he saw HIS FUTURE SELF TELLING HIS DAD to kill them, which is why he was extremely shocked.

Eren is that one meme of the guy pointing a guy to himself, but unironically. Mans built so different he created a paradox in his own timeline to dictate his own life events. Isayama is astonishingly skilled. The way he weaved time travel into eren's character to portray him as the perpetrator and victim of his own atrocities is absolute genius.

I think he didn't created any paradox. I think that everything here was already meant to happen. Any "influence" he had made, like manipulate his father, was meant to happen.
I think he kinda sent his memories, his point of view, his way of thinking to his father. In other words, maybe Grisha was seeing Eren's memories from his point of view; and maybe the powers of the Attack Titan combined with the Coordinate and the royal blood (Zeke) permitted Grisha to feel his sons presence, and even able to see Zeke.
Some theories indicates that everytime Grisha saw Zeke, Eren was behind him, so it was like Grisha saw the present through Eren's vision. It wasn't time travel, is was communication through memories across the timeline. I even think Eren has only now interacted to his father's memories to this level because now he's in the Paths and has someone of royal blood with him, hence it would cause some kind of "unlocking" in abilities, that being the capacity of not only have a glimpse of memories, but to "interact" a little more, like he were behind the scenes like that.

The only reason Eren was able to control the actions of his father is because Historia and Rod Reiss showed him the events of what happened, as the Attack Titan is not able to transfer memories to the inheritor he was able to manipulate the circumstances since he had gotten those memories. Otherwise he would only have been able to see the next Attack Titans memories that they showed to him.

The reason why Grisha appeared to be able to touch both Eren and Zeke is because by way of the Attack Titan's power, Grisha can peek into the memories of future inheritors, and the experience of seeing himself and Zeke from Eren's POV is so surreal that to them, they exist in the same time and space and are thus able to interact with each other as if physically together.
That's also why Grisha only sees Zeke from Eren's POV, and never explicitly reacted to Eren's presence, he's essentially staring at an estimation of where Eren's at when he's "looking" at him, when he's actually seeing himself from his POV.

I wouldn't call it influence, I mean. Zeke takes Eren to see Grisha's memories, since Zeke as a founding titan has that power. From Zeke's perspective, everything he is seeing is happening, for Zeke he is seeing in the present the past. For Eren, as an attack titan and the only one who can see the future, he is seeing what has already happened, that is, Eren not only sees what happens (present) but what will happen (future), for which, for Eren, the present is already past. While Grisha is seeing the future, since he is also the attack titan, but from his perspective, he does not see what has already happened, but what will happen, that is why he is able to see Zeke, because he does not see literally Zeke, he sees Eren's memories that are in the future (the present for Zeke and Eren) and that is why he can hug Zeke, since he knows that Eren and Zeke will travel to that moment, also taking advantage of the fact that Grisha can see the future, Eren sends a message to the past, doing what he should do, from Grisha's perspective, he is seeing the future, that is, Eren talking to him, while from Eren's perspective, he is doing what has already happened, while from Zeke's perspective, he sees what's going on.

Eren whispered in Isayama's ear and told him to write this story
On a serious note, it's really scary how Grisha, someone who was so anti-Marley and pro-Eldia, saw one glimpse of Eren's plan and was like, "Zeke. You have to stop him." Despite Grisha's hate for Marley and how far he was willing to go, even HE thought his plan was too far. He was genuinely horrified. Whatever Eren's plan is, Grisha does not want it to happen.
Speaking of, Zeke and Grisha finally getting to work out their issues and hug each other in a moment of pure love is really heartwarming. Grisha understood his mistakes when raising Zeke before. Instead of only treating him as a tool, he treats him as his son. Zeke is finally able to take his first step towards closure after years of trauma. Even if they had their differences, Grisha and Zeke can at least agree with one thing: Stopping Eren...

@@martinaherrera3182 Saying that the entire story happens because of Eren's nature" is so ridiculously reductive to the cruel environment that exists out of Eren's control. Because if that's the case, why is it that when Eren and Mikasa run away in 138-Paradis gets invaded and the only way to survive is to run? Eren doesn't go to Liberio or rumble and yet the problem is still there.
Making blanket statements about nature for the sake of being dramatic takes away Isayama's purposefully tight and extreme world building. Isayama didn't have to make the world hate Paradisians to such a degree if he wanted to make the point that Eren “would've made the same decisions because of nature." And he wouldn't have created a sekaikei element in the story if "nature" wasn't something that couldn't be changed. And calling it a story that Eren created is also reductive given an entire other character exists Ymir-who existed long before Eren and whose motivations and traumas and decisions were made outisde of Eren's conception.
It's impossible to ignore the influence that future memories have on one's behavior/ feelings. So how can you draw strict conclusions on someone's nature when Isayama wrote so many plot devices that challenge that?

    • @randy7796
      @randy7796 2 года назад +3

Technically, the current Eren has always been in control since the inception of the Attack Titan. It's a time loop, Eren influencing past wielders and even himself so that he ends up at this point in time to do it over and over again. Kruger had Eren's memories, Grisha had memories from Eren, and past Eren had memories and emotions from future Eren. In a sense, there are no Attack Titan wielders, just the Attack Titan, since the very last Attack Titan wielder will always have a dominating will over the past wielders, meaning the Attack Titan wielders in the timeline of AOT that we've experienced has always been just one entity (whoever is the very last wielder). Now, the question is, what future memories Eren has seen to warrant his actions and choose this timeline? Has he only seen his own future memories, or memories from yet another future wielder and Eren is actually the one being controlled, if you can even call him Eren?

To explain the future memories bit, the power of the Attack Titan is the power to send memories from its future inheritors back to its past inheritors. That makes it unique from other Titans which can only see memories from the past. The thing with the future memory transfer is that you can't send future memories back to your past self, since the AT only has to power to send the future memories to its past inheritors. There's a loophole, however, which Eren has exploited. If you send future memories to a past inheritor, and then unlock the past memory of that inheritor seeing those future memories, you see your own future memories.
Grisha isn't actually seeing Eren. He's seeing himself in the 3rd person from Eren's pov, thus hearing what Eren is saying. It's the same with Zeke, Grisha only sees Zeke when Eren is directly looking at Zeke. When Eren kissed Historia, he unlocked the last of Grisha's memory of Future Eren sending him the future. Thus Eren learned of events which would occur in the future.

    • @viziontrex
      @viziontrex 2 года назад +10

@@shavedata5436 I initially thought about it that way too. It's not so much that Eren can go back in time it's that by combining the power of the attack titan and the founding titan, Eren can essentially be in the past, present and future, simultaneously. In practice, it looks like time traveling back in time, but only because we experience the show through linear time. Like Zeke said in the previous episode, it had felt like ages before Eren woke up at the Paths. Time is not linear at that place, it is everywhere at once.

It looks like some things are starting to make sense, since the conversation between Grisha and Eren Kruger. The king within the walls refused to break his oath to renounce war and protect his people, choosing instead to accept punishment for past sins. The Attack Titan also has its own characteristics: it is independent, meaning it doesn't follow orders from anyone, not even the Founding Titan, and it seems to be the only one of the 9 Titans to have access to the memories of the future. This is an epic level turn around!!!

Grisha could see Future Zeke because of the Attack Titan ability Which allow the current inheritor of it to see memories of the future (next) inheritor , in this Case Grisha sees Memories of future Eren who traveled back in time with Zeke to visit Grisha memories , so basically Grisha could see stuff from his own vision and from Eren perspective too .

I mean, fundamentally it's not really a clear logical answer in terms of the technicalities, but it's just something to accept about the way things are in the AoT universe. But it's still very engaging and succeeds with what it tries to do.

To people wondering how Eren made contact with Grisha:
    - Grisha basically saw FUTURE Eren's memories (which is the Eren we will see later on in the series) through CURRENT Eren's eyes (which is the Eren in this episode watching Grisha's memories)
    - Basically Grisha saw himself through CURRENT Eren's POV/Eyes that's why he could tell Zeke was there because Eren could see Zeke. And that's why he knows Eren is there because he is watching himself through Eren's eyes.
    - To make it simpler: Grisha - Future Eren's Memories (through Current Eren's eyes) - and then back to Grisha
    - Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's memories which is the CURRENT Eren watching his fathers memories.
    Eren kissing historia's hand:
    - Eren basically saw FUTURE Eren's plan through Grisha's Memories. Basically Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's plan and since CURRENT Eren can access Grisha's memories seeing the FUTURE Eren's plan, then he could basically see the future.
    - To make it simpler: Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's Memories - CURRENT/PAST Eren (When he kissed Historia) saw Grisha seeing FUTURE Eren's Memories.

The king has passed down his will, his vow renouncing war for generations and would gladly let all Eldians be massacred because he sees it as penance. Eren is the direct contrast and will fight till the bitter end for freedom.

I don't know if this might be considered a spoiler, so warning
I think more than Eren, it's the Attack Titan who is disgusted at the king's ideology, because that is essentially it's place in the world: to push for freedom and never stop

      @@soffiapiano SPOILER:
Eren is the last attack titan, and since we know the attack titan can see the future through inheritors to act and push for freedom, it’s Erens own will and drive for freedom that is the reason for the attack titan having those traits. In other words, it’s Eren who has directly influenced every attack titan before him

Also I think when he said he was disgusted with his father, there was some truth to that. He was disgusted that his father, who has also listened to the king's ridiculous spiel and has just as much if not more reason to go through with killing the Reiss family, hesitates to do it in the end. I think some of that disgust comes out in how he talks down to Grisha in order to motivate Grisha to do what he needs to do.

Eren saw his future memories through Grisha's memories when he kissed Historia's hand in s3 and that's why he's been depressed and dead inside eversince because he already knows everything that's about to happen and what he must do to protect his people from his enemies
