Salak, also known as Snake Fruit, is a wild and crazy exotic fruit. Some people say it's an acquired taste but we absolutely love them. High in Potassium and Pectin, in their native country of Indonesia they call it the memory fruit. It has a very unique flavor that is often described as sweet and sour with undertones of pineapple and has a crisp texture like an apple. The nickname "snake fruit" comes from the incredibly close resemblance their skin has to real snake skin. I'm wondering if we can make some boots with it?? I have read they can have a constipation effect if you eat to much, which is easy to do, so take it slow when you get a chance to try these delectable goodies. Salak is easy to propagate and can be planted from seed or by removing and planting the babies that will emerge from the tree. When planting seeds, expect to get a 50/50 ratio of male to female. This is a positive result as you will need at least 25% males for pollination. You will also get a much higher yield of fruit if you hand pollinate, we explain more about this in the video. We hope you enjoy the video and let us know if you are lucky enough to find some of this amazing fruit!!

wow that was graphic
I have a question, what kind of soul does it like to grow in? And is it more sensitive to frost.
The soil structure for optimum growth needs to be sandy, argillaceous, and rich in organic materials. Don't know if it is sensitive or not to frost, maybe you should try experimenting with it.
have you thought about keeping singless bees? on your farm.
+MsTokies We have multiple varieties of stingless bees on our property right now. Our farm manager Christian collects them from the rain forest and relocates them to our property. I would imagine a video about this in a future video. Thanks for your comment and watching our videos!(-:

fit farmer Thank you Fit Farmer!(-:
how much it takes to fruit from the seed ?
8-10 years if you plant it from seeds (vegetative). 3-5 years if you plant it from the babies (saplings) or technically known as grafting (generative). Also it will depend on the cultivar & its varieties.
3-4 years from seed, mine are 3 years and started bearing fruits
