As a Christian woman, I was deeply touched when the Chaplain offered a prayer before the Press Conference. This is amazing and just goes to show the integrity and leadership of that Police department. My sincere condolences to the family of Officer Cunningham, he gave his life in service. Yes that is a long time. But many do not think of all the policemen and women that get severe injuries while working. My Aunt was a detective and had a career ending injury which resulted in many surgeries and a life time of chronic pain.
They are very dangerous. But the officers are trying to save the life of the victim of domestic violence. They probably feel they don't have time to wait for SWAT or the victim might die. Unfortunately, sometimes the officer is the one who dies.

IMO all domestic disputes should be handled by a special detail of swat deputies. These seem to be one of the most dangerous calls.
