Awesome video! When I was a kid there was an old machine like this one abandoned off in the woods by the Snake river near Grasston Mn. I used to dream of fixing it up and making it run again. Sadly it's gone now but with your videos I get to see that old dream come to life! Subscribed and looking forward to more vids!
Not to worry Nick, glass in the cab is over-rated anyway!! This really takes me back to my childhood. My Did has an OLD Link-Belt Speeder (late 40" s) and it sounded and looked like yours. He just ran it, seemed to last forever, i was grease monkey and kept it lubed up. I am sure he is looking down, watching you, and smiling!! The brake linings wore out and my father, being a carpenter as well, made new ones out of oak lumber, go figure?? Loved the landscape feature in the winch area!! I noticed the clamshell bucket, can't beat them for loading big rock or bailing deep holes.
What's the plan for this? Do you restore old iron or just like screwing around with old stuff? Either way good times...ill keep an eye out for progress.
It's been 50 or so years since I've operated one of them but was wondering if using the bar is because the levers are stuck to switch from one track to the other to turn it ? And why the cab wasn't turned to unload it ?
Yes, everything is rusted solid. We needed to make it function enough to get it out of the woods and get it home. A lot of this is explained in the first 2 parts of this series. The links are in the description.
Yeah we hosed them down with penetrating lube. Some of the issue is that the retaining pins are rotted off from being buried, so it can work the pin / side frame apart fairly easily.
Hello, i dident notice you have two youtube accounts. which made it very difficult to find the Bucyrus Rescue part 4 and 5 videos. I watched all of part one, two, and three about 3 months ago and liked them very much but the crain was not finished, and I thought that there would be more videos on it. but there was not, until part four of the crain came into my recommendations under a different youtube account.
I only have one account, so I'm not sure why things would be appearing that way for you. If you go to my channel and click "Videos", you should find all of them. Can you tell me / show me what accounts you're seeing on here? If there's an issue, I'll contact RUclips and address it.
Throw some old tires on those steel ramps when you load a tracked machine. You guys are going to kill somebody. I admire what you're doing but sheesh. 6 or 8 old tires and they load right up.
There were tires laid down. They're just cut sprint-car tires so they lay flat and are not very noticeable, but trust me they're there. Loaded dozens and dozens of steel wheeled tractors and don't leave home without my rubber!
@@RustyRescues I appreciate the reply. I always have better luck with something more substantial, like truck radials. About nothing scarier that slipping uncontrollably as you crest the ramp. Are you guys in New York?
Such a beautiful relic from days gone by, but that peterbilt is one beautiful piece of machinery. Would be proud to drive that, that’s for sure.

I was just thinking it's amazing how those chains are holding up. lol. did you lube them?

Where can I find videos on the restoration?
Keep watching the channel. Right now the engine is waiting to go back in when it warms up.
Shown earlier, reprise? 😳
Yes, it was pulled due to some issues, edited, and reposted with some changes.
Why do you folks hate each other? What a shame!
We don't 🙃
