    That’s a clean one right there! My dad used one daily in the 70s and early 80s. I’ve run some as well. They be heavy with a 42”er mounted on one haha.

    Nice I just picked one of these up for 20 bucks! It's well used and beat up but hopefully she'll run.
    Great vids Chainsaw guy. It would be cool if you talked a little bit about the history of these saws like what years they were built. In the mean time i'll research but sounds like I got myself a heck of a saw.

      Manual oiler override thumb button for when you need a bit more in tough cutting conditions such as heavy pitch,extra hard/dry wood etc.

    I wonder if this is what my Uncle bought for Husqvarnas in 1985 or so, when he retired the 2 Jonsereds 80's from the mill. We got one of the J-reds. Love playing with old Husqvarnas to if I can get one. I know they were BIG whatever he bought.

    How would one remove the metal rod that the plastic throttle linkage piece is on? I have taken the rectangular plug out of the clutch side case to access it, bit there is no bolt head or anything to unscrew it.

      Logan,
      I use a small drift and tap with small ball hammer ,
      if difficult, some heat will loosen it.
      be Careful with heat,
      remove fuel tank and anything flammable.

      @WestCoastMuscleSaws TheChainSawGuy I guess I don't need to take the rod out, i.jjst need to take the plastic part the linkage connects to off. Would that be as easy as taking off the e clip?

    • @WestCoastMuscleSaws
      @WestCoastMuscleSaws  Год назад +1

      @Logan Cates the clip is difficult but doable,
      better than removing the pin

    Why does the operator always pull on the starter cord when he turns the saw off

    • @todmccormick2590
      @todmccormick2590 4 года назад +2

      These saws have a twin spring loaded pawl system which engage for start up, but when engine starts the weigh of the pawls over comes the spring tension so the starter disengages. ( inertia ). When the engine is turned off, the revs fall the springs reengage the starter causing the starter rope to be pulled tight and causing wear to starer.
      By pulling the starter cord out it gives the starter some free play.

    Looks new... WTF is wrong with you do you just keep them for show or do you use them. If you don't use them that is very sad and a different type of abuse. If you are selling it how much? I am always interested in a new saw I should get my ride working but why bother when I can just use my bosses instead saving me a ton on repairs since I am a little leary about doing anything more than replacing a radiator/alternator/or mounts without help and the neighbors hate when I am working on motors at 10 p.m. They werent to happy when I started up a concrete cutoff saw without a muffler on it at midnight a little while ago. Couldn't believe it actually ran since its beat to hell but all is well and it will be almost like new soon again. I hate seeing motors that can be made good again ending up in the dump more than anything. You will call me crazy but I have found a few nice tools there too and all they needed was gas. A Echo GT-2400 I bought from the scrapyard and its perfect actually better than perfect shame the new trimmer line cost me more than the weedeater. Oh well
