A character study with a war in the background is a perfect way to explain it. The movie does a great job of putting you in the protagonists' shoes. I walked away feeling shell-shocked and disillusioned like Lee. The war's origins are vague and the alliances don't make sense because war never makes sense. Most of the tense scenes had nothing to do with the actual war or sides--it was random and cruel for no reason. There are a lot of themes in this movie, but the one that stuck with me was epitomized in Lee's line: "Every time I survived a war zone, I thought I was sending a warning home--'Don't do this'." Dystopians often make a good point but are a bit wacky and distant. This one was grounded and scary.
Very well said. I do wish the ending or Lee's ending was a little more emotional, but I think that was also the point. Thank you for watching my review.
@@QTReviews Yeah, I thought Lee's ending was poignant but definitely not emotionally satisfying.
every point you made on why this is a great movie and I agree 100%, is why critical drinker hated it!
I wasn't sure before I saw it, afterwards, wow
great movie!
Movies are subjective, and we're going to have different opinions. It's good to listen to various opinions, and maybe they saw something you didn't and vice versa. Thank you for watching my review.
