Thanks for the review! I never played Stardew valley (just felt too tiring for me) so I was drawn to this game's combination elements of farming + adventuring, but also on the fence about it. Appreciate hearing the pros and cons. I don't really care much about npcs and just want a gameplay that isn't too grindy on the farming side.
🎉 The fact that we can turn so many things into other things for more pennies is great. I also love that we can jump anywhere too. I'm just waiting to receive it as I love it so far 🎉 I have never played Stardew valley so I'm afraid that part means nothing for me.
you should def play - no other game will beat stardew valley just so much thought went into every tiny part of it. It was made with love in a way most games aren't. It's phenomenal
Animal Crossing was quite expensive when it first came out and had paid DLCs so Fae Farm is similar. I'm not sure it's fair to compare it to Stardew, price-wise because Stardew is a 2D game. Thank you for your honest review though, MrStarInSky
I only played for a couple hours but here's from me. The tool system is one of the best, if not the best system ever in farming game. It's super seamless. The graphic is nice, character movement is to my liking. Progression is also top notch! But, only 2 bachelorettes ? :(
Have you tried Garden Paws? It also doesn't penalize you for staying up too late. In fact, you can find a fallen star that falls at the same time every night. and you get rewarded the first time you stay up to the point of passing out.
Wait.. yeah they NPC does look like Harry Potter. The game is ok, the art style is cute but I don't think it's worth 60 dollars YET maybe in the future when they add more stuff then maybe
Theres not enough end game content in this game. Theres not enough payoff farming/ranching, so it feels really grindy for no benefit. I beat the game in winter of the first year, and then blew through the second year breeding flowers. Not really feeling grinding out the rest of the job quests, or any of the friendships/"romances".
I bought it today for the switch so far I have been through the first chapter which seems to be a basic tutorial And I am working through the second chapter there are thorns kind of like night thorns! and a wizard so definite some similarities to dreamlight valley I also share your pushing the wrong button pain lol but hey I am getting pretty good at jumping and that's how I accidentally found out we can swim!
Something that really bothers me about the interior design/item placement is that, while you can make great windows or paintings or hangings, you cannot place anything on the left or right wall in any room. I think this is because when you upgrade the rooms get bigger. But how hard would it be for the items to move to the new wall? It looks really weird and is super frustrating. I also dislike the very limited furniture items available to craft. Yes, I realize that is because you are supposed to "discover" those later, but I've finished the second dungeon and I STILL have a living room that appears to be from the Flintstones. This is very poorly thought out. It should have a wide variety of items available early, with very fancy items to find later. All this system now does is to train players not to care about designing their spaces.
The selling needs to revamped for sure, because you could have like 50+ things to sell and have to do it over two days. Maybe they could have npcs that only take specific items like how their is a fisherman and a bug man they should be able to take specific things
nah, you're probably selling too much stuff you'll need later lol. plus you can buy 2 produce stands for your farm which is an extra 16 sell slots. only thing i sell are the refined gems. lots of money. everything else has a use
@richw9056 yes exactly, what you said. Major regrets with selling too many items I needed. Once you start refining and making recipes the selling system is perfect. Can make a crapton of money selling polished gems.
This game is stunning but the NPCs not being fleshed out is definitely disappointing. I’m playing My Time at Portia and the NPCs are the best thing about the game and you can date and marry! The graphics in Fae Farm are a lot cleaner but that game has a lot of charm. The new My Time at Sandrock game is a ‘sequel’ to it.
on Switch, right now, it's 79.99 + tax... total is about 90... the game looks good, but, at this moment, i can't justify purchasing a 90 game regardless of future npcs included
Honestly, I love this game, but yeah my least favorite part is the NPCs. But it’s not even the dialogue, it’s the fact that it has me flirting w/ every romance character just w/ first chatting with them. I think that needs to be changed cause I am surely not trying to romance every character.

Can you tell me the name of that other game you’re comparing it to? I’d like to check it out. The thing is we are in a buyers market because there IS A SURPLUS of this type of game on the market. NOW if it was a one time deal and the "DLC" were going to be free, I wouldn't bother posting. The fact is they are going to charge for the DLC's, and that will make this a 60+$ game. IF it is going to be priced at that then I have to compare it to the competition and well it just seems way overpriced for what it offers. Heck even some games yet to be released month/year are going to be cheaper! In the back of my mind I just have the feeling they are following the sim's/ea's model of provide a platform, and then everything else is DLC content. Granted great money maker if you have a sellers market, but in a buyers market.. Well Good luck is all I can say.
As for me, I'm still waiting to see if fae farm will continue to develop content and I'm waiting for the number of days before I see the end of the game. Stardew valley can't be beaten but I don't have the game because I'm hesitant because of the overly pixelated graphics so I bought coral island the soundtrack is similar to stard. The decor of coral island is so fresh, soft, relaxing and pastel and the scuba diving is so pleasant. it's what i wanted. i'm less attracted to fae farm than coral island. otherwise in terms of housing grid decorations the best is palia which i also love.

On the Switch, the 40 dollar version is not available. You have to buy the 60 dollar version. It's okay though. I am really excited to start playing.

You can date and marry NPCs in faefarm as well, the list is small right now but more will be added
My Time at Portia and Sandrock both play like shit on steam deck, for me that's a big issue for these types of games
