    Straight up, I miss Incirlik. Your dorm room was way different than mine was. I was building 960 room 7318. A much narrower room. 39SFS. Man, I know I commented a year ago, but so much has changed while I was there. I previously made that first comment around September or so of 2022. 2023 was a pretty decent year. I miss it so much, and the people I met as well. Even though I did SF for a short stint, I was reassigned to doing force protection, BAYO, and some other small duties (for what I can recollect.)
    Although unfortunately, I was reclassed out of SF my first tour. The squadron there really dropped the ball and was a huge "good ol' boys" club, and if they did not like you, they would remove you. I was in a pretty bad situation career wise over there... I was thrown into a small little "flight" of people who were pending retrain/reclass, separation (i.e. kicked out, medical retirement, etc,) and others under investigation (assault, SA, etc.) When I got the news I was going to be thrown into that flight, I did not know exactly what to think of it, especially considering I was accused of "crimes" that I never committed, so I did not know how much worse things could be. When I reported to the S4 warehouse where everyone was, it took me a while to meet everyone... And that was when I learned that the "crimes" the people I was on "flight" with were bullshit. I learned so much while I was in Incirlik, and one of the things I learned was that if you're a cop and you're accused of something, it's game friggen over. I still have friends over there who are under investigation and are pending jailtime, and I have friends who got out via admin/medical. Even though I loved being in SF, I will never forget the people I was tossed into a really shitty situation with. Hell, I remember a guy that I met who went to jail for "strangulation," which translates to my friend setting his hand on a guy's shoulder and then he and his friends make a complain and tell a fake story to throw him under the bus. (The accuser is now in Yokota, Japan, which pisses me off that he got away with making false statements and throwing a guy in jail.) The accuser's friend had a girlfriend at the time who had "relations" with another guy on the ROD Squad... She accused him of sexual assault, he had all the evidence against her, she got to PCS outta there and my other friend is pending court. A third guy I know was also accused of SA, and the woman did it to a few other guys as well and she did it just to get out of Incirlik. So that send another guy to our "broken toys/lame cops flight." I got to know the guy and hear his story, and I knew the guy from SF tech school (two of them to be exact,) and it just irritates me that they are being given punishments for false accusations.
    All in all, with these people the Air Force would deem "criminals," I actually had a great time with the handfuls of people on that flight. We were all in a very shitty situation together and we were all able to communicate and hang out. We all used to go to the Turkish Alley together and just do stuff just to get out of the base and the dorms. We all had our own hobbies and interests, but it was cool that we were all able to support one another. We were there during the Turkiye-Syria Earthquake of 2022, and we had a blast doing force protection during that time. We were able to make a schedule that worked around us, and we had to do a total of 12 hours, but the NCO's in S4 didn't care how we did it, as long as it got done. So we were all working these 3 hours shifts across 5 people, and the 5th person had the day off. Easy money, a walk in the park, and damn it fun. I was able to meet so many people during the Turkish earthquake and I still remember many of them. The other duty that I was assigned to was doing BAYO, which was also a walk in the park. I miss those days of waking up at 7AM and reporting to the ADL office in 962, and then cleaning up and doing stuff for 8 hours a day... Two hour lunches at 12, getting back at 1400, leaving at 1600. I remember I actually got us Dorm of the Quarter for building 960 - the one next to the bowling alley.
    It was a really shitty career situation and an even worse fucking unit... They stuff they did, such as neglecting me for more than a year, taking my job away, first shirt (at the time) flat out saying that I was incompetent and making me feel retarded (for asking about my career situation and wanting an update, didn't know if I was getting kicked out or thrown in jail or whatever, he flat out said he did not know and he did not care,) and damn... That place did change me to some degree. I would say I am described as the kind of guy who "constantly has a stick up his..." But maybe that's because I was around the SF NCO's for too long I was constantly being treated like a criminal. Regardless, I still think of my old friends quite often. I remember my old NCO's from when I was preforming SF duties, and I know exactly how not to treat Airmen/junior enlisted folk... I learned from them so I know not to be like them. Nearly every day to this day, I wish that I was a lawyer or I was some kind of person where I could defend my old friends from those false accusations and jailtime. I wish I could help them and serve true justice. I wish the Air Force would be better, but after what they did to me, and what they did to my friends... They got away with it. They got away with all of it. I wish I could go nuclear and just go to IG and get them all investigated, but what do I have to prove?
    I had a great time in Incirlik... I really miss it, and I wish I could go back. Just not under that command... I wish I could go back to my old dorm room (960 7318,) old job, old everything... I miss it and those were some really good times... But it was a career nightmare and it was not pleasant. But the situation was black and white. On the personal side, I had a blast doing whatever I wanted to every day, and I was around really good people... I learned how to play the electric guitar, and I had many great times at small parties, and I was so happy to hear everyone's stories. But, being with that unit and neglection did fuck me up. The placed the fear of God into me, and I wish I could be a more approachable person, but they're the reason why I have trust issues. I have had so many things pent up and the build up is a little much to bear... I still have questions that the 39SFS did not ever answer, but now I will never get those answers. I do not know what will come of my friends who are pending court or jailtime.
    Sorry if this comment seems out of pocket. That tour did a number on me and as much as I loved the base and the stuff I did, I will forever resent the unit and those who wronged me. I wish I could talk to someone about it, but it will ultimately go nowhere.

      I'm sorry to hear that, man. I'm about to head over to Incirlik in 1.5 weeks (I'm also sf). However, this isn't my first base, but I know what you mean when you say people have wrongfully accused you. I always keep my head low and be careful with the people I hang out with.

    Where is finance located now? I was stationed their 1991 thru 1995. Finance use to be located close to the front gate facing the village, it was a two story building. Customer service was on the bottom floor. I worked upstairs in processing but did all the incoming finance briefings.

    Man this brings me back. I was deployed there 98-00 .. insane dorm parties 🤘

      Yea shortly before I even got there they cracked down hard. There used to be trash everywhere, parties on roofs, a bouncy house got burnt down (not kidding). Parties were still fun despite the new rules but I aint ever party on a roof. I hung out with the hashers a couple times but they did shit I wasn't in to.

    Im PCSing to Turkey soon and this video definitely helped me figure out how I’m gonna decorate and how much stuff I’ll bring with me😊 were those two American outlets the only ones? Or should I have a converter?

    • @demedrian
      @demedrian  Год назад

      I'm glad this helped! My room was 220v, make sure your devices are rated for the electrical load. I think there were only two outlets in the room part and then one (maybe two? it's been years) in the sink area. You do not need converters if you're in these dorms, not sure how the others are set up. Enjoy your tour at Incirlik!

    Are you still in Türkiye? I just got here and moved into the dorm. Anything I can expect? How are dorm inspections?

    • @demedrian
      @demedrian  2 года назад +1

      I been outta there for about two years now. It was a good experience, I hated it and loved it at the same time. Humidity is not fun. There's also a season where the spiders come out at night and cover the sidewalks, also not fun. The club is fun tho and the restaurants down the road. Make sure you get a fishbowl from the Onbasilar. Dorm inspections are chill, you'll be alright. Aint no one ever inspected my dorm until my final out. Good luck!

      @@demedrian I am still here. I really like it here. I’ve made lots of friends here, even within the Turkish side of their gov and military. I am 39SFS. I hate that I cannot go off base yet, I cannot wait to go out and travel. My Turkish language skills are coming together. Additionally, there have been many learning experiences that I’ve came across within the month or so that I’ve been here. The tea here is also amazing. Again, I really love it here. What rank are you? I am just an Airman, but my dorms are really narrow. I’d beg to have the dorms you’re in.

      @@AMason747 I was SrA when I left, SGT in USSF now. I'm a comm guy. It's a great experience, no doubt. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Find yourself a Turkish friend that can get donor kebabs off base, so good. Base was pretty locked down when I got there but I did manage to get off base when they opened up off-base trips. I saw the "James Bond Bridge" as one trip and another trip I went to see the "Snake Castle". That castle trip is unforgettable. Yea man, can't beat the tea there.

      Yea, that's pretty lucky. Dorm rooms in Incirlik aren't too shabby just gotta keep that dehumidfier running constantly. I bet that was an experience being there during the coup. We thought there was gonna be another one while i was there.

    Not bad at all. Are these airmen dorms?

    • @demedrian
      @demedrian  3 года назад

      They are, there are three layouts that I know of. The second layout is only slightly modified to this and the "NCO" dorms have private bathrooms versus the shared one between you and your neighbor.

    • @DrayLux37
      @DrayLux37 3 года назад

      @@demedrian nice, and there a shared kitchen for every 2 people as well? How are the dorms/base in general?

    • @demedrian
      @demedrian  3 года назад +2

      @@DrayLux37 Yessir, shared kitchen will full stove/oven, microwave, sink, cabinets, big ass fridge. Shared bathroom contains bathtub(don't bathe in it, only shower) and toilet. As far as laundry, each dorm building has a laundry room on each floor (three floors). Dorms have been kept pretty well for the most part despite the humidity/mold. Each room has a dehumidifier to combat mold, mold was not a 'serious' issue. The base itself is not bad, you'll be walking everywhere unless you purchase a scoot. It gets very hot, gets very humid and there is a very stormy season brought on from the gulf. The storms can get intense, you be surprised how much rain can fall from the sky during this time. Housing got flooded, our comm compound got flooded, it was so bad.
      If you get a chance to hang out with the "hashers" please do once or twice, it's really quite the experience.
      There are a couple bars on base and restaurants that serve really good food and if you're lucky you can make friends with a Turkish guy that can bring in authentic donor kababs. Commissary is well stocked, the BX is well stocked. There will be a mail room for you to collect your mail/packages. The fitness center is pretty decent as well, plenty to do. Nice big track outside to run on. The DFAC is also pretty decent and honestly the best I've eaten at, 10/10.
      If the Turkish like ya, they'll call you "brother" or in their language, "abi". I developed a habit of calling people brother back home because of my time in Turkey. It's a great experience, I was lucky to be with a wicked awesome crew too. Everyone is family there, sounds cliche but these people are all you got when you're locked down on base, everyone comes together. Don't thumbs up Turkish, it's not a good hand sign to them, do not insult "Ataturk" or any statues of Ataturk. The Turkish hold Ataturk at the highest level, he is the reason Turkey developed a more "Westerner" ideal and inspired growth.
      I was part of comms and also part of Initial/Quick Response Force. I would love to answer any questions you have about Incirlik AB.

    • @DrayLux37
      @DrayLux37 3 года назад +2

      @@demedrian thank you man, this was an amazing and informal response. Was there a lot of pretty girls on base? Also, how was the finance office, if you ever went by

    • @demedrian
      @demedrian  3 года назад +2

      @@DrayLux37 Hah, pretty girls dude? Yea, I suppose man. When I was there, it was the typical chickies working in medical that stood out. The Turkish ladies are very pretty and quite fun to talk to also. There was one Turkish lady that comes on base to sing and play guitar in the Rosso restaurant on Friday nights. She was entertaining but if she was taking a break, she treated everyone like they're scum. She was an absolute tit, probably the only encounter with a Turkish lady that was unfavorable. But anyway, I'm a married man so pretty girls wasn't a priority for me but if you're single dude, you'll make some memories, I promise.
      We kept going to Rosso cuz my friend was engaged to one of the Turkish waitresses. The mixed drinks there are straight up gasoline, assuming they're only using cheap booze. The Club was always the best place to start the night, plenty of beer, good mixed drinks, music, karaoke, just a lot going on- fun. The Club was also right across the road from my dorm, convenient. The Club building also has a barber and a Starbucks, also convenient.
      Finance? I never had a long wait with them, they were pretty efficient when I was there but It's been over a year so the entire shop there is probably replaced by now. Part of your in processing, you'll have a mandatory finance appointment in a small auditorium with other in-processing people. You'll do paperwork and such, they'll go over everything via slides as you do the said paperwork then you'll turn it in upon completion of appointment. Just keep an eye on your LES as always my guy. Anytime there's a change in my pay, I'm dissecting that LES after a couple pay periods. Depending on your rank, you'll be expected to pay for meal card too so that'll dig into that extra imminent danger pay you'll be receiving.
      Are you going for short tour or deployment? Deployment living conditions are vastly different. You'd be living in a small mobile container shared with one other person and community bathrooms and showers instead of the dorm life. Internet sucks noodle out there too. (Internet is good in dorms tho!)
