I was at this game. Badgers played well below average and still took it somewhat easily. The Western Michigan crowd was amazing though, hats off to them.
Nice to give WMU credit for playing a good game because wisconsin played "well below average and took it easily" yeah ok, if it wasnt for Fumagali bailing you out, WMU would have won the game. You are another arrogant big ten fan that has no respect to other teams and think that the big ten is the best conference in the nation
I don't agree. Badgers went down the field and scored the first drive. Couldn't throw to anyone but Fumagalli. The badger running game was tearing it up consistantly. Western made its adjustments but made a couple of mistakes that cost them. There's no excuse to play below average for a game you practiced for more than 2 weeks for. Western played better but couldn't eliminate the few mistakes.
I had to delete my original post. I can't complain about the Badgers. Yeah I'm bummed they missed out this year. It just seems like we get so close. Then splat. But again so many bowl games. Great coaches. Great players. The Badgers have been nothing short of great. I wish though just once to see....... #1 Wisconsin 13-0. Just once or three times...lol. It would be incredible to see them as National Champions.
cpk1994 you do realize that those kitty schools he was playing against at WMU had the same level of recruits, right? He had the same sword as all those teams, but he did more with it. And I don’t buy the disinterested myth with Auburn. Anybody who has played football knows that you give 100% out there every game. It would’ve been stupid for Derrick Brown to suck too, since a lot of NFL scouts were watching. And you also know what? Fleck wasn’t dealt a great hand at Minnesota, not the best recruiting classes. Now his classes are in the top 10. The lack of perspective is unbelievable. Minnesota isn’t Ohio State, a team that could recruit well if my sister was the head coach. But he’s starting to make UM a markee program
Andy Gygi I’ve gotten into some harsh arguments with you about Michigan and OSU, but I respect the fact that you can put this into perspective. Not some dumbo who spouts that the Big 10 sucks without ever watching the games and listening to SECSPN
cpk1994 ? I don’t think you understand that Fleck at WMU ALSO had MAC players. Yes, he struggled early. Nobody cares. If anything it shows how he took an average team to very good in just the span of a season. And if a conference has 3 great teams that’s pretty spectacular season. The SEC has who, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama- who had a down year with a sub-standard defense. Teams like Auburn and Florida were similar to Minnesota, Iowa and Michigan. If anything the two conferences were even, but the SEC had the best team. If you can give me a fact on why the big 10 sucks relative to the other conferences then I will listen.
cpk1994 I mean, Michigan went 3-1 in no conference with a 45-14 win over Notre Dame. Minnesota was 4-0, Iowa beat USC by 3 scores. I’m not really sure how much better the middle-of-the-pack teams could’ve done. Hell, if we want to play that game, Auburn sucked, Georgia barely beat ND, so therefore all of college football is an absolute atrocity except for the playoff teams (maybe not Oklahoma). That’s where this logic is going
cpk1994 Dude I’m a Michigan fan and I agree with him. That should tell you something. Keep drinking that Bud and eating those cheese curds behind a screen telling everyone how delusional they are and how they have no sense of reality
Houston and Fumagalli had a great connection in this game. Clement and Watt were outstanding. The Badgers were coming off a disappointing loss to Penn State in the B1G championship game. This win was redemption against a previously unbeaten Western Michigan team.
because undefeated teams use better team work instead of relying on certain players, many teams that have been considered to have the best talent have never won a championship
Taylor Moton (Carolina), Chuks Okawarfor (Steelers), Robert Spillane (Steelers), Darius Phillips (Bengals) are all still in the league. Couple other guys were in and out quickly.
Both of their starting offensive tackles in this game, Taylor Moton and Chukwuma Okorafor are both still starting in the NFL 8 years later. Robert Spillane, the defensive captain and middle linebacker, is now a defensive captain for the Raiders. Just had really good leadership at key positions
TJ Watt is a beast. JJ Watt as well but AGAIN he's out for the year. He keeps getting injured. So much talent and he's off the field more than he's on it. Sad. I'd love to see him finish a few full years to see what he's capable of.
I was at this game and I have a board of the wisconsin vs western michigan game that was where the players stayed at a hotel and i got the board. Which is the only one in the world.

@@77Danny - Truth hurts! Wisconsin did play well below average this game.

@Cam Yeah even though western beat Northwestern and illinois that year. Even though they were bottom feeders that season

I would love to go back to these days at least we made conference championships then
PJ Fleck did an amazing job with this team. Went from 1-11 to 12-0

I was at this game. That catch in the Endzone on fourth down by Corey Davis was unreal!
I was also at this game was fun . I enjoyed the energy from the western fans at half time all you heard was row the boat row the boat
I was at this game and man Fumagali was insane
It was totally Fu's game.

Bart Houston 👍
What NFL talent did Western Michigan have on this team besides Corey Davis how were they 13-0
Weaker Conference

Speaking of TJ Watt (03:31) I think he's gonna dominate with the Steelers this season. Should be fun to watch!

The first of PJ Fleck's many losses to UW
5:27 was CLEARLY a late hit out of bounds hit and of course the pro pig ten refs never called it.
A) not late
B) terrible grammar
C) you’re upset about a play from 6 years ago
clean hit
Clean and you’re poverty team lost
