I think in the beginning it’s just lacking some needed reverb. As for the remainder, that just comes down to audibly not being able to discern how the background elements sound due to being out performed by the vocals. Also, naturally, the vocals themselves tend to naturally fill some of the empty space of a production where the vocals are the focal point.

To build on this, I can’t stress enough how difficult it can be to mimic someone else’s original work, being that finding similar samples and recreating synths is a lot of painstaking trial and error
