It was a great episode as the patient wasnt just a hypocrite. Having worked in analysing 3rd world work by western countries the people dedicating their lives helping Africa be that on fundraiser or in Africa are often the most ignorant to actual solutions. I thought this mindset was well captured. He is a zealot. A believer in his cause and because of that actual helps people but also ignores the actual situation . It also had good comedic timing showing Cameron totally falling for him like always. 🙂

It is a tv show, not a documentary; that said, even doctors can learn a bit about obscure diagnoses, like going to grand rounds at the Mass General in Boston which is more comprehensive, in the ddx, i admit.
That test tells you if you've been exposed to TB not it you are positive. I test the men on my team and have had it administered to myself. I have an immunity to a couple strains that causes my test to react as a positive EVERY time. I got to sit in an emergency room bubble fish tank on the first couple times but now I've got Doctors notes.

Well he does that because his father took him out of his will and left him nothing. It was not only an aknowledgment but a fact. Always found that a little strange as his father clearly loved him in his own ways and had tried to make amends. Kinda difficult to believe he would then leave him nothing but well thats what the script said.

I’m a registered nurse at 38 years I make my medical decisions the doctors give me my options just went through this last year or a doctor wanted me to take a certain med and I wasn’t gonna do it because of the ineffective ineffectiveness of the medication and the side effects he didn’t like it and said I ordered it taken I looked at him and I said he misunderstood the way things work I’m the patient I made my own decisions.
It's interesting that for some reason there is not a single tv seriers about doctors that ever talks about the literal hell that it is the US nonhealthcare system. There is no patient without insurance, no patience with an insurance that doesn't cover their treatment, etc. OF course a series like that would be quite depressing. Is reality though.
That's a thing in every medical series. It's just not interesting, so they'll have one or two episodes on it in the series. The problem is overblown in social media anyway.

I just love how House is always perfectly comfortable coming close to killing a patient just to prove himself right or maybe lucky. Obviously, even though he was correct in his final analysis, how many times does he make the wrong call prior to coming up with the right solution in other episodes. I still say, "maybe lucky". I enjoyed House but I also thought I'd rather see him fired and lose his medical license. That would have been more realistic.
He's right to hate charity doctors. They come in fifteen minutes late, and then they sorta space out for about an hour. They just stare at their desk; but it looks like they're working. I'd say in a given week they probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual work. And they never put covers on their TPS reports.

I don't understand why everyone is hating on the charity doctor. So, people now just hate charity or think that charity is fake? He was really out there in Africa saving people's lives. Yes, he refused to take medicines so that they could become cheaper but maybe he thought that was the only way. This is why I don't like House sometimes because he doesn't know how to appreciate anyone.
Almost all charities _are_ fake though; scams of some kind. There are a few extremely rare exceptions, but the general heuristic of being skeptical of them all would stand you in good stead.
