RadioNul Nothing wrong with a politician who happens to be the son of a politician. Quite a lot wrong with speaking the English language like a knacker, wearing a stage-Irish cap 24/7, imagining that your ignorance is somehow charming and having the IQ of a marble. I also left the place decades ago. What an embarrassment this is.

Oh, and 'useless' is one word, not two. An adjective best applied to the likes of you, I feel certain.
You, ye, we are not at the office or in class, I write with an accent to my friends just about all the time and there isn't much wrong with it. Standardization of language is good to be understood, but for impressions it is best to work with mixed standards and improvised spellings to convey the difference. Everything has its place. Besides debating what is a work in the vocabulary of different areas as compared to the standard (especially since we are compelled by no formal constraints) is a challenge in glottology and just about any other field of science with ties to language.

Most governments aren't aware of anything outside of their high-lives. Rarely is a significant proportion of them rural, or cares. There is little reason to believe some townie presenter, just because she and he are in some other country. It's most likely no different from here, no different from anywhere.
He's not wrong about local knowledge. More of that for local people can only be a good thing.

For my own curiosity, i compiled a list if TDs who inherited their parents seat. So far. Its approaching twenty. After that. I plan to make a list of rte presenters who are related to politicians. Its common for children to follow in their parents footsteps t here in Ireland it certainly is
