    If you've kept some of sheet vinyl from the initial install its really very easy to repair damage. Just match the pattern and cut thru both layers. End result is practically invisible. This guy wants to sell you and entire new floor just for a cigarette burn... nonsense!!

  • @jacijune
    @jacijune 2 года назад +17

    I'm not sure that the whole sheet vinyl floor will have to be replaced if damaged. It may depend on the pattern. I watched a guy on RUclips cut out two damaged squares along the grout lines in his sheet vinyl tile pattern and he just cut and glued back a new piece in place to match back and you couldn't tell when he was finished.

      I wouldn’t say the difficulty with sheet vinyl is the act itself of repairing it, but having the material to do so. In Utah people who sell sheet vinyl are few and far between, and might not even sell it anymore a little bit farther down the road. It’s kind of sad because it’s not exactly a bad product like everyone makes it to be, just not as aesthetically appealing.

    I live in a rental and have for almost 8 years. I love sheet vinyl. It's the only thing that has held up over time with little to no maintenance and very little wear and tear and has out performed carpet and vinyl tile. I have 3 dogs and everything has taken a beating but the roll vinyl flooring still looks better then the rest of the flooring I have.

    I had true old school 1981 linoleum on my floors.. had to remove it ONLY because the design was outdated and the wrong color for my intended decor.. and bc it didn't extend into the dining area (where there was CARPET!)... I LOVE old school linoleum. Soft to the bottom of the foot, the design goes thru the material (not just on top) .. and held up all these years! I looked into the newer Marmoleum, but too commercial looking and no real 'white' colors. 😢
    So very sad & disappointed. I don't want tile, marble ir anything that has grout or lines.. I'm not into 'wood looking' floors.. I had epoxy done.. HUGE mistake. The company I used sucked. I didn't do enough research. 😢
    Now, I'm forced to put in the 'wood look' floors I never wanted and now have to wait bc I threw away $6k on the epoxy mess. 😡 I wish they'd bring back true linoleum. 😔

      The sheet vinyl, will save you some money, approx $2.00 sq ft. The vinyl plank will give you more of a realistic look. The wear layer is very similar on both but the vinyl plank is heavier at a 20 mil wear layer and will have more of an impact resistance. But the Platinum quality of the sheet vinyl is the best on the market. It is very scratch resistant and both are water proof. The best thing to do is to come to the store and see the products. You may be able to use both in certain areas.

Cal your retailer where you purchased it and tell them to put a claim in with Mannington. Also call Mannington direct and tell them your issue. Manningtgon is the best sheet vinyl product on the market today. They should give you some direction on this. If you can let me know how you make out.

It is very strange because the sheet vinyl that was put down in my large bathroom doesn’t have a smell but the one that was put down in the kitchen and small bath is extremely strong vinyl smell. Both are from Mannington. We have been having to air out our house every day. Everyone claims Mannington doesn’t have this problem, but if you came to my house you would feel differently. Very frustrating.

    • @fashioncarpets
      @fashioncarpets  10 месяцев назад

      Have you called Mannington ? Tell them what you just said here. Keep on them, they usually will come up with some form of resolution. Also find out from your retailer if the material was cut off different rolls. Maybe the roll that the order is coming from can be isolated and you can use this info to tell Mannington this. Your retailer should do all of this for you.

    I had Congoleum cushion vinyl for years. Nothing compared. No damage no tears I had kids traffic entertaining and it was perfect. The planks do not stay together as the house settles or things spill. I hate them.

    • @fashioncarpets
      @fashioncarpets  4 года назад +2

      If you have a problem with the planks opening due to home settling then you have a real problem with your house or the material was a home depot special. Cheaper vinyl planks will have a tendency to open over time because of the inferior locking systems associated with cheaper products.I have been selling sheet vinyl for over 50 years and know the limits of this type of vinyl. A quality vinyl plank looks more realistic and easier to maintain and scratch resistant. The only advantage of sheet vinyl is that it comes with a lower price point.

    Which option is best for a travel trailer where weight and temperature changes are considerations?

    • @fashioncarpets
      @fashioncarpets  5 лет назад +3

      One of the best that we use under these conditions is ADURA®Rigid is the newest member of the ADURA® family. What makes ADURA®Rigid different is it’s solid core that gives the floor superior indentation resistance, it doesn’t need to acclimate before it’s installed and it can handle wide temperature ranges, like a cabin in the middle of winter or an enclosed lanai in Florida on a hot summer day.
      Strong and durable with superior indentation resistance, ideal for home gyms, kids rooms and kitchens
      Stable in wide temperature changes
      Easy to install, even over existing hard surface floors (like ceramic tile)
      Available in both planks and tiles
