To answer the question @2:11:
this is clearly an asynchronous (induction) rotor, as evident due to the exposed aluminum conductor "squirrel cage". The use of a resolver (rather than encoder) also indicates asynchronous operation; either a resolver or an encoder can be used with either induction or PM motors, but for PM the higher angular precision of the encoder is usually preferred.
VW's published information confirms that while the rear motor of MEB vehicles is PM, the front motor is induction.

All ID. cars from Volkswagen are RWD and some of them can be AWD. There is no FWD ID.4.
However, nice insight of the motor!

You say that this is an ID.4 unit, but it is entirely different from the ID.4 unit which Munro Live tore down - different rotor type (induction vs PM), different stator type (round wire vs rectangular "hairpin"), different transaxle layout (coaxial output vs. offset), different housing construction. I suspect that Munro tore down the rear drive unit, and that this is the very different front drive unit from the same platform.
Hey Brian, you are correct! The ID4 has an all wheel-drive in its latest version, where you have the known synchronous drive a the rear axle. For AWD and boosting VW added a asynchronous front wheel drive. This is what you see in the video. Sorry if I have expressed myself in a misleading way here.

Yep, this is the front eAxle supplied by Magna, called the eDS-Low (which VW calls the EQ150). The rear gets a VW eAxle called the EQ310-1P, which you have seen in the Munro video.
What are dimensions of the entire unit and kg?
Do you mean the real unit inside the car or our training model?

@@user-dl9vi5ww6n sorry, we don't have a link as we spoken to VW directly, when we got the e-motor. Nevertheless, feel free to use google. I can imagine as well, that this will be written in the corresponding SSP, if VW is still creating them.

Recently after driving approx. 19.000 kms on Id.4 rear drive model (production of china: model id.4 crozz pro), i can hear knock from the gear panel when the car starts moving or when I push the “gas” pedal after slowing down on regenerative braking mode. I.e. whenever the car goes for clutch the knock sound can be heard from the gearbox/rotor.
What problem is it like and how can it be solved.
For your information: I have not changed the oil in gearbox after driving 19k kms. There has been some times that while driving in lower speeds (4-5 kmph) i have opened the door or woke up from the driver’s seat after which the car stops immediately and brings it to a park position (electronically).

I have a 23 AWD Pro S that I took delivery of on July 2023. As November 2023 @ 8000 miles I also have started hearing this knock. It has been at the dealer for 11 days now and they are unable to figure out the cause. Its a real bummer. I really hope to get my expensive car back soon! Did you ever determine the cause of your knock?

When do you should oil for ID 4 electric motor?
As far as we know this is a life-time filling.

If I am not mistaken, this was the optional rear axle unit, if you are choosing all wheel drive. :)
this is NOT an ID motor... ID3, ID4, ect uses HAIRPIN COPPER WINDINGS... feel free to contact me and ill email you the videos of the copper hairpin winding manufacturing of this motor..... MY ROBOTS DO THIS.... this is an OLDER WOUND stator... NOT an ID3 motor.....
If you say so ;) We got this piece from VW directly, but perhaps they are using the wrong motors. Who knows.
