The truck bed rack, look the part and give the Dodge a whole new look!!! I like the whole "change my mind" system, one can play with different setups till you find one that work. Leitner should go international with this product idea so we in other countries can also enjoy setups like yours!!! The orange max tracks look cool with your truck.
Disregard if someone else has mentioned this, I didn't read all the comments. That's a cool setup, the one thing I would change from what you did is put one gas can and water can opposite the other 2 in case of a rollover or a rogue wild tree branch says hello and the 2 outside cans got punctured. Great video again, keep up the awesome work.
first let me say, nice truck. Second- nice rack system. 3rd- THANK YOU for knowing how to make a video. No clutch words like "um" or "you know" or "things like that". No over use of hand gestures and you didn't sit there and bolt all the bolts on video. Honestly, you have no IDEA how rare that is. You did not skip important stuff and you did not show us how to tighten a bolt. Thank you. Anyway I lOVE this set up but wow is it a little pricey. (Still thinking of buying it). I LITERALLY just purchased a 2016 ecodiesel last night. So I am super excited to see what items are out there. I upgraded from an 04 Dakota. Any tips?
Thanks for the watch and the constructive comment! I know this rack system is "top tier" price wise but it does actually feel top quality and has held up to the abuse I have put it through! For your new truck a good set of shocks will go a long way to improve the feel of the truck... look at the Icon stuff, the have everything from entry level to the stage 5 stuff I have on this truck or Fox has a great range as well. Plus, look into the HPtuners for your engine... they are getting a huge improvement on both mileage and power from that awesome eco diesel.
I am a Paramedic and I installed a set of MaxTrax on the side of the bed rack of my 1990 Chevy K3500 1-Ton 4x4 Dually and I never go off-road without them now. Recently I found another use for them when I came upon the scene of a horrific vehicle accident where a vehicle had caught fire. With the help of my passenger I was able to use one of the MaxTrax as a backboard to carry the injured driver of the vehicle with a suspected spinal injury a safe distance away from the vehicle before the fire spread to the cabin of the vehicle. After that incident, I will never go anywhere without my MaxTrax on the truck again.
Great setup Jason, just remember not to leave your maxtrax out in the sun. They are UV resistant but trust me they will perish( the sun here in Australia killed mine). I see guys having them permanently on there car, it looks cool, but is a real pain in the arse when they fail when you need them most due to the sun. And remember to bring your bike with you when you come over☺️
Jason, You could double stack the RotoPax on the outside and then mount the MaxTrax on the inside. That will give you more room for gear down the middle. Just a thought.
It looks like you might be able to mount the maxtrax under the large cargo bin. That would keep them out of the sun some too. Thanks for the vid... need this system for my truck too.
Way cool, definitely built for maximizing the potential of the truck. Can't wait to see how it looks with the tent on top. (Just don't use that PVC thing to get it up there XD)
Great video on explaining this very nice system. My only wish is that someone made a rack system like this that I could fold up into the bed when I am not on an adventure and then set up the racks for my trips when I am not using my truck for day to day work tasks. I would be willing to lose the rooftop tent functionality, but would love to have a way to carry gear when I am running between locations.
I'm not sure why you would want to fold this system down? It allows almost full bed use while still in place? I put a 1000 lb safe in there the other day and drove around!
Love the ram content. 15 crew cab long bed (8 speed), want to be on 37s just like you... But we have nowhere legal to wheel in mid Florida!!!! It sucks. Closest place is 2 hours!!!!
I wish could add a tonneau cover or perragon along with this at the same time. I would like to have gear locked up in the bed, without adding a heavy and expensive decked system.
Jason, Watch out for the bed separating especially on the older 4th gen’s. I have a rack on mine with a CVT tent and spare tire (maybe 300# total) and the front of my bed began to separate where the front of the bed meets the sides (they’re tack welded). Getting bed braces at the tailgate seriously helps but so does bolting the bed together where the tack welds are holding the bed together. The newer 4th gens are bolted, but the older ones are welded. Happy camping!
That's what she said!!!! LOL I appreciate the humor! Good question on the side placement and easy answer... after really thinking about the things I will need access to after exiting the driver's seat (cameras etc.) I want that box close by. Refueling with the 2 Gallon containers is a breeze and carrying those around isn't even an issue to me. Thanks!
Just a follow up on your great video. After several years of use, have you added any custom or home-made brackets and/or mounts to the ACS? the T-channel is the perfect basis for doing almost anything. Just installed my ACS Forged last week (2022 F150) and love it. And now working on ideas for holding my motorcycle ramps. Simple J-brackets mounted at the inside bottom rails of the ACS? Yes, just round home-depot wall hooks might work too, but not as stable. Then ramps will hang down just inside of both sides of the bed. And a simple top strap, like on my jerry can bracket will hold ramps securely. But I would love to see what other ACS owners have added over the years. Thanks in advance.
I didn't add anything and used it just like this but I've seen lots of stuff in my Instagram feed from folks that have done all kinds of things to theirs!
Awesome video. That top bar feature just sold me. Was worried about my dirtbike fitting I wonder if you could also just all the three dirtbike Bracket (the one with 3 orange things)
pretty cool ... will a roof top tent work on it, looks like it would ...? just checked out their website ... looks like roof top tents will work ... pretty awesome ...!
How about fixing that nice dent in the right rear cab corner/bed junction. Sheesh man ;-) These are definitely nice racks systems. How long does the hardware last before getting rusty? Is it stainless hardware? How about condensation in those waterproof cargo boxes?
How much weight is the rack rated for? Once you load up all of those water/fuel cans, both bins with equipment, and have that big rooftop tent.....you have to be close to the max weight. Then go do some rugged off-roading, I want to see you put that baby to the test!
I will put it to the test for sure... maybe even this weekend. I forget the static and off road weight ratings but they all seemed reasonable for what I'm going to do!
G'Day Mate, great rack system. only wish they had them in Australia. Question - What size are the aluminium extrusion bars on the sides and the load rails? 45mm x 45mm??
Thanks! I don't think the backflip would work due to the way the brackets mount for the rack... many folks go with the decked drawer system with this thing. I've loved it for camping... check this video ruclips.net/video/GGvByOkRXGM/видео.html
A lot of Titan parts fit the armada. if you are looking for lifts, wheels, tires, intakes, exhausts ect...ect...ect. if you are looking for making the armada a overland vehicle look into storage compartments and maybe something like a decked system could be available for the armada.
Is there a good cargo basket that you could put on top of the rack? For holding stuff that doesn't way too much, like tents, sleeping bags, chairs, etc.
Dude I love your ram. Need to know a couple things. Where did you get your exhaust, suspension kit and front cv axels . Because I love the stance and the sound of it
Definitely considered this system, until I saw how much everything cost. The small cargo boxes alone are over $250 and the large box coming in at $600. The price excludes a lot of customers. Great idea though, wish I could afford it.
I hear ya! I very quickly elude to that near the end when I mention that it is "premium" but I've found that this off road thing... HECK almost all car mods are pricey for the good stuff.
In this industry you get what you pay for most of the time. You want something that is rugged as hell, adjustable to many situations, adaptable to several needs/desires, etc. You’re gonna have to pay for it!
Normally that's true, i'm a firm believer in "buy once, cry once" but in this case the $600 high quality boxes leak water like crazy! I'm still trying to get mine to stop leaking. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. But luckily Leitner is an awesome company and i'm sure they will get me squared away.
How many gallons are the red Rotopax in this video? Would a 4 gallon unit fit in place of the 2 smaller units? If so, could you stack (2) 4 gallon units together without worrying they will be too heavy for the hardware?
I want that same setup on my Tacoma and was wondering what the total price for all of that is. I know that they don’t sell an all in one. You have to buy each accessory separate and the price stacks pretty fast. Thanks in advance for your answer.
Thanks! Right now, I don't want to ruin the really handsome aesthetic the front of the truck has and keep the weight off the front... who knows though... maybe in the future after getting stuck again!
This is awesome, but it seems permanent. I have already committed to a tonneau cover because I wanted something over top of my decked drawers. If this could be removed easily it would be a no brainer. Need something that can allow bed cover to slide back n forth.
Key note here: As far as squaring up the bed rails and getting the measurements for the upper crossbars, RAM truck bedsides are NOT square. Specifically with this setup on a 4thGen Ram. The front measurement is larger than the rear. In other words, if you measure the front inside bedside edges then the rears you're gonna see easily 1-1/2-2 inches of difference. What's nice though is you can adjust the bed rails to get a "best fit" scenario allowing the crossbars to slide but they tend to not fully slide all the way forward unless you loosen the mounting hardware.
Sorry bro didn’t mean to hurt ur feelings didn’t think you’d see this. Paint job or wrap or whatever it is just isn’t my cup of tea. Was thinking you bought it like that and was wondering why you hadn’t fixed it. But am now thinking you chose to have it look that way.
It’s weird that you would care what a random person on the internet thinks about ur paint job so much. The comment section is for the viewers. So speak when spoken to. Go attach something to ur rack u seem bored
@@M8ce78 listen ma'am, this is my youtube channel and i enjoy interacting with viewers. i couldn't give a shit what you think about the paint job or about me. take your meds and get some rest. i find this quite hilarious!
I’m looking at this for my truck for hunting seasons. Would a headache rack fit in with this system. I’m looking at mounting a winch in the bed for winching up large animals. Any other suggestions?
i’m jealous bro, can i have the web , rack, fuel , and water tank..?? how much it’s cost, is that design for 2019 Tacoma..??? thank you bro... look really sick .... roof top tent too... damnnnnn... bro...
Jason you have done some great upgrades on your pickup and it just keeps getting better ! Have you done anything to clean up your transfer case shifter ? just curios.
Just an idea. So you don't loose so much room why not mount the mats under the big box at an angle over the wheel well ? That space is kinda unusable for much else.
How much money for the entire project?. I think it does not have enough bases, I only see 4, if you plan to put a tent on the rack. What do you think? We should not add at least unops tuvos to hold it in the centers?
They swell a little bit and then contract when they cool down. Very flex-able but durable. I've left them out in the sun for days and never had a problem. Whenever I think about it, I unscrew a bit to let them breath but that's about it. Rotopax rules.
I like the rack, but what stops someone just un-bolting the boxes off the rails.? Additionally your missing a bay watch live saver!! Thinking about it, Id tack weld the nuts on!
I just installed this rack on my tundra and love it. However, I just opened the xl pod after a rain storm and water is leaking in from the top at the hinge. Do you have this problem also? Not sure how to fix it other than replacing the rubber seal
I do notice a bit of water inside the seal but not enough to worry about for me. I did make an effort to tighten the mounting brackets in a way that made sure the box was supported by the top bracket a bit and then tightened the bottom. This made sure the box was square in the middle and not sagging at all and it made a much better seal. Does that make sense?
Ahha! Yes that does actually make sense, and I see what you mean. I will give that a try. Yeah it wasn't a lot but definitely enough to worry about for me because things were getting wet, and there was standing water on the bottom after only one rain storm. I'm up there in elevation so we get snow and lots of cold weather also so that may have added to it. We got a rain storm a few days ago, but now we have snow. I went out to put something in there before I headed out to play in the snow and that's when I noticed it. Very strange, but I will try what you mentioned, then just keep my eye on it and try to solve it because I definitely don't want to return that box lol. Thanks for the reply!
Well, I talked to Leitner and they mentioned checking the rack to make sure its square as that can tweak the box ever so slightly, but enough to open a gap. Well I checked and the front was perfect, but the back was 3/8" out. So I pulled the box off. Squared the rack back up perfect, and reset the box. This time I also hung it from the top and made the "reveal" was perfectly square to the rack. Then I tested it by pouring some water on top, and made sure to dry the outside of the box really well before I opened it so water wouldn't fall into it contaminating the test. Well, it still leaks!!! I opened the box up and it looked the same as before: water on the inside, and water all along the top at the hinge. So it didn't change anything and its still really bad. I need to look at it better but from what I can see there is a serious design flaw at the top hinge which allows water into the top of the box no matter what. It then relies on this small gasket to keep the water out and its obviously not doing the job. The only thing I can think of now is that my box was slightly mis-shaped when it was made in the mold or something because there is no way everyone has this same problem as me otherwise we would be hearing about this more. Although I just asked another guy about his and he said he had to put RV sealant around the top to keep it from leaking?!? That's not a great idea either because of the nature of the hinge and how it operates. I am starting to think these may all get recalled or something. Hopefully I just have a bum box and will be better if I replace it or replace the gasket. Definitely not awesome for a $600 box. The rest of the rack is awesome though. I am going to buy a few small pods here soon, hopefully those don't have the same problem!
@@caseylorenzana4438 Appreciate you responding back. I agree for $600 plus that box better be perfect. You gave me a good to add some weather sealing around the smaller boxes for added protection. GL and I hope your able to square away.
Hey I was looking in to purchasing this rack system. However i have a question. Do you think you can put kayaks on the top with out it hitting the truck. I have a single and a tandem kayak.

Jason,
Watch out for the bed separating especially on the older 4th gen’s.
Great suggestion! Thanks!
Amazing stuff, great video.
Thanks so much!
Best video ever.. thanks !!!
I have to get a separate pickup truck as an adventure mobile. I love my Jeep but would love to be able to pack some gear while also doing trails.
That's exactly why I'm building the truck with the tent... to do long haul camping and off road adventures!

This is awesome, but it seems permanent. I have already committed to a tonneau cover because I wanted something over top of my decked drawers. If this could be removed easily it would be a no brainer. Need something that can allow bed cover to slide back n forth.
If you have a bed cover, this is not the rack for you.
I did the measurements like the instructions suggested and the rail slides forward and back all the way like butta.
I will be buying a ram power wagon. Would this work on a power wagon
Yep.
Just a thought what’s locking the big bin on to the truck anybody with the socket & a ratchet can undo those nuts & lift it off when nobody is around.
Not sure but it looked like the bottom bolts were only accessible with the box open.
That is a good point... Leitner does sell "tamper proof" bolts... I just didn't order them YET so don't tell anyone else... LOL
Good spot! It would be difficult but someone could get to them!
That’s it!... im getting this for my ram rebel.
Fuck it.
Get it! You'll be happy
Install looks great! What are your plans for the light bar? I'm sure it would look great on my 13 Ram! ;-) Let me know!
This truck is a weird flex
not sure what you mean... i kind of think your comment is a weird flex
@@M8ce78 this comment...lol
weird that you would think any of it
It’s weird that you would care what a random person on the internet thinks about ur paint job so much.
I would like to know if you ever gt the brackets to mount the Traction Boards on the in/back side of the Gen Pods and where can they be gotten???
ruclips.net/video/FfmFIjdKN8I/видео.html
I’m looking at this for my truck for hunting seasons. Would a headache rack fit in with this system. I’m looking at mounting a winch in the bed for winching up large animals. Any other suggestions?
Awesome!
Nice setup! How hard would it be to enclose the rack from the inside like with a canvas tarp or something like that?
Have you ever got the bracket to allow the traction boards to mount on the inside of the Gen Pods???
"Rotopax don't leak" . . . . . . . . riiiiiight.
i’m jealous bro, can i have the web , rack, fuel , and water tank..?? how much it’s cost, is that design for 2019 Tacoma..??? thank you bro... look really sick .... roof top tent too... damnnnnn... bro...
Thanks dude! Yes they make this for the Tacoma... the owner of the company had a Tacoma fully set up for years.
Jason you have done some great upgrades on your pickup and it just keeps getting better ! Have you done anything to clean up your transfer case shifter ? just curios.
Thanks so much! I haven't dealt with that darn shifter yet.. it's on the list!
Thanks so much! I haven't dealt with that darn shifter yet.. it's on the list!
Really cool set up but what’s stopping someone from unbolting some nuts and taking the whole container and breaking into it later?
They offer safety bolts that secure that stuff... I didn't order them at this time.
Next project: making my Jeep Wrangler a pickup and installing the rack
LOL! I'd like to see videos on that!
Just an idea. So you don't loose so much room why not mount the mats under the big box at an angle over the wheel well ? That space is kinda unusable for much else.
Good suggestion!
You could make the box have a small lip so the traction boards just slide right under. That way they are quickly accesible
That little side box better be more than “water resistant” for $260!
Is this available for a dakota 2006? Nice video as always...
Yep...I think they offer them for just about any size bed.
How much money for the entire project?.
I think it does not have enough bases, I only see 4, if you plan to put a tent on the rack. What do you think? We should not add at least unops tuvos to hold it in the centers?
It holds a tent great!
I wonder: how are those fuel tanks with expansion from the heat. I don’t see a pressure release valve on them.
They swell a little bit and then contract when they cool down. Very flex-able but durable. I've left them out in the sun for days and never had a problem. Whenever I think about it, I unscrew a bit to let them breath but that's about it. Rotopax rules.
I kind of find it funny that the cans lock but the whole plate could be stolen with a wrench. Maybe he'll make some wheel nut type caps for security.
There are safe nuts but I just didn’t order them yet.
I like the rack, but what stops someone just un-bolting the boxes off the rails.?
Additionally your missing a bay watch live saver!!
Thinking about it, Id tack weld the nuts on!
They sell tamper resistant bolts, I just haven't ordered any yet and have been fine.
Max traxs 👍👍
Yeah, I can’t believe I waited this long to get them!
@@caseylorenzana4438 Any updates on the box sealing up for you?
I'm on the fence on picking the XL up.
Nice dear
It's very nice, but EXPENSIVE. I'm going to shop around for one that costs less. I have a Gen 4 Ram too.
Cool.
Hey I was looking in to purchasing this rack system. However i have a question. Do you think you can put kayaks on the top with out it hitting the truck. I have a single and a tandem kayak.
Yes! Absolutely good for kayaks!!!
