I do think cultural changes have become more rapid with the advancement of technology, mainly because information can spread faster. It used to take centuries for cultures to change. In the 20th century, that was reduced to decades. For example, the films and music of the early 1960s feel very different than the films and music of the late 1960s. It almost feels like two different worlds. Now, cultural change can happen in less than a decade. In 2015, I felt the world was very different than it was in 2011. The smartphone had changed the culture in a very short amount of time. Of course, culture will change in subtle ways without people noticing, and then before they know it, everything is different.
Hey David Stewart, folks here.
Here David, Hey Stewart folks
On the Nirvana comment - FireHouse, a full-on 80s hair metal band, won favourite new metal artist over Alice In Chains and Nirvana at the 92 Grammys
Even in the modern day, trends overlap and blend
Jethro Tull, a 70s rock band with flute, won best metal artist over Metallica in 1989, too!
I wish we still were almost fully analogue, tbqh. Like in 2010 or so.
Thx for the video.
2010 was almost entirely digital
Great video. Something that drives this idea home for me is considering what our grandparents say and wear. Sure, the year is 2024, but many of their attitudes, fashion sense and lingo come from 50-70 years ago. Every historical era has older people, older architecture and art, so there will always be that presence of the past.
It’s always cool to look at history regarding things like analog. Thanks for the video David, have a great day and take care!
I expected a lengthy defense of vinyl again.
8:42 are you saying that the Baroque is more evolved than the Renaissance? ReeEEeE!!!
Fiiiiiirst
It's a funny problem, we only know history from the stories we tell about it, and stories are digital, which makes history as we know it also digital, even though reality is clearly analogue. Just don't go making your stories analogue, or you'll confuse your audience, regardless of how accurate you might be...
