      Really, do you understand that the Spanish Empire created one of the first Single markets in the world, well before the Brits in the XIX century, the USA or the EU. That meant that taxes were collected from all corners of the empire and goods and services were exchanged, but they also left many buildings like christian churches and cathedrals, hospitals and healthcare centers, roads, harbours, aqueducts, irrigation and agricultural systems since some of the native americans did not have any knowledge of agricultural techniques, introduced horses, fire weapons, cattle, etc.
      Did you know that the Aztecs/Mexicas were just one of the many mesoamerican tribes in the area of modern Mexico DC, and they were mass murderers of other mesoamerican tribes like the tlaxaltecas, totonacas, tepanecas, etc? Actually, 99% of the tribes which ransacked the Aztecs were from tribes coming from other areas of Mexico like Cempoala, Quiahuiztlan, Texcoco, Chalco, Xochimilco, Azcapotzalco y Mixquic.
      Opps. Sincerely, another ignorant Brit trying to teach Europeans on world history.
      By the way, perhaps you are proud that your anglosaxon ancestors in America who considered a good indian is a dead indian. Also racist laws were in place up until the XX century, whereas Queen Isabel I of Spain prohibited slavery and protected the indigenous people already in 1512 (Leyes de Burgos), well over two hundred years before the French Revolution, four centuries before the USA, or three hundred years before the British did in 1833. Opps!!
      Did you know that the Spanish collected taxes in different forms, the same way that the British Empire did in the 13 colonies in the XVIII century. However, the city of Boston rebelled against the British stablishment because their taxes were used in financing other ventures rather than being reinvested in the wellbeing of the American colonisers. The American colonisers looked for help to France and Spain to kick off the Brits! And voila the USA was ... a new nation.
      Ohhh dear! Yet another brit with a sense of entitlement!!

    • @Alboravin
      @Alboravin Месяц назад

      @@timmo491 The Aztecs were defeated, and thankfully so. They fought and lost what they had in a war of largely pitched battles, as opposed to thievery on the open seas which is the original definition of piracy. The Galleons were designed as armoured cargo vessels, to defend from pirate attacks from mostly the French, British and Dutch. Calling them a 'pirate ship' is incorrect.
      Besides, a lot of the goods transported by Galleons were extracted and produced by Spaniards in both Spain and the Americas, and the descendants of Aztec royalty actually did quite well for themselves under Spanish rule (and continue to do so to this day). You can look up the Dukes of Moctezuma if you don't want to take my word for it. Crying about the Aztecs in an oversimplified and anachronistic manner is a bizarre mix of virtue-signaling and crocodile tears but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night I guess, just please do us all a favour and try not to miss the OP's point next time Timmo.

      ¿No te has dado cuenta que ha publicado el vídeo como "barco pirata"? Y los galeones españoles no eran barcos piratas, al contrario que muchos navíos ingleses.

    Los piratas ingleses asaltaban los galeones españoles con oro y plata traídos de América a Europa.

    Decir que un galeón español es un barco pirata, es como decir que el papa es negro. Los galeones se cargaban a los barcos piratas, que por cierto eran sobretodo British.

    There were no famous Spanish pirates, and generally none had a galeón. They used other smaller vessels.

    The galleon Andalucía is a reproduction of a 16th century Spanish navy ship. It is not a pirate ship. Don't insult us!.

    It's not a pirate ship. It is a ship that pirates attacked to steal their gold

  • @valsainking
    @valsainking Месяц назад

    Pirates were those who coveted the unimaginable wealth of the Spanish Empire in its heyday and who thus attacked and sought to rob and commandeer Spain's ships on the high seas: primarily the English, the Dutch, and the French. Put another way, the Spaniards were the victims of piracy, not the perpetrators. Generally speaking of course.
