Duran Duran created some of the BEST songs ever...So glad they are coming to the Bay Area in California!!! And "My Antartica" is really one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Have fun at the Olympics! We'll be watching and cheering!!

but I've been on both sides. when I was 12 I was a huge 1D fan but I still liked old music now I can't stand the sound of 1D and I absolutely adore duran duran
DD their genre is hard to pinpoint but to label them boy band that's just insane they're the furthest thing from boyband and because they're genre is hard to pinpoint that makes them all the more fantastic songs like winter marches on, my antarctica, palomino, the chauffeur, and many more of their low tempo songs make them a band that's very hard to put in a nutshell, they're outside of all of that what I could definitely call them is a band with extraordinary eclecticism and amazing style
I'd catgorize DD as a synth pop, techno pop or euro techno band.

pop band = this means 'popular band' such like u2 or The Beatles. Boy Band = non-song writers, dance routines, contrived group, directed/manipulated by management, don't play instruments or create/produce their own material. You might understand why duran duran are a pop band but not a boy band?

I have that New Year's Eve show at the Palladium on tape, 82-83, and they tear that place down; especially Andy Taylor jumping off of speaker cabinets and playing furious solos.
