- Thank you guys for watching! I can't believe almost 40,000 have watched it! This is my first ever subbing video, so there'll be a few mistakes. I do not own the music or this play. All rights belong to the rightful owners.
Funny how the guillotine was the most humane way of execution during this period of time prior was some guy with an ax or sword, eliminates the human mistakes granted the blade can get stuck half way
It took an execution that was inhumane by its brutality, tried to make it better, and ended up making it inhumane by making the scale industrial.
Someone forgot to sharpen it :/
Gage Eisley it was created by French doctor

Nearly Headless Nick anyone??
_You could make a religion out of th-_ *No, dont*
No, but that won't stop me from making a book for this
Madame guillotine blesses-
Well, Robespierre tried
How 'bout I do *Anyway~*
Dnd ally-turned-villain. A rebel leader who goes overboard with vengeance, maddened and bloodthirsty, driving the newly liberated city into bloody chaos.
This kinda reminds me of 'Alive' from Jekyll and Hyde, probably because they are musicals by the same guy
Wait really? Huh... That explains a lot.
Stick People Animations THANK YOU SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME!
alive was the song i was listening to right before this wtf
I thought the tune sounded familiar.
Like with The Riddle I kept thinking of Dangerous Game
It reminds me of Murder from Jekyll and Hyde
no joke, I've listened to this for an hour straight.
Brittany Wilhelm SAAAAAME
cits addicting lol n a good way
Yep. Only I was singing to it that entire hour. My voice hurts o,o
me too!!! this musical is my new fixation i will know every lyric given 12 hours

Y'all, I am a solid low alto. Sopranos frighten me with their terrifying heights. But when I'm singing along to this song, I too am gifted with the ability to REACH THE VERY HEAVENS and it honestly scares me *so much.* I am unworthy of this power.
As a soprano I have never reached such clean, high notes. It's terrifying here. Is this the power of being pissed at the government, granting me such clarity?
I'm a low baritone. I suffer at the mere sound
I was Sir Percy in our high school play. Not this exact version it was closer to the original book but it was so awesome. We had a working guillotine and it was so much fun.....
We recently had our play of the scarlet pimpernel and I played Marguerite
a working guillotine???
little more aesthetic I’m starting to wonder how many kids it took to figure out it was functional...
I’m so sorry
PLEASE tell me that you didn't use real people
My school did one too lol we made out guillotine from cardboard and used a foam head
I need to stop watching Madame Guillotine videos... I mean how did I get from Good Omens to this...
The Marvel Dork honestly i have the problem, but i love the song so much.

Well did you get a good grade? 😂
No. To the grade guillotine with you!
How did you end up doing lmao
Did it work??
2:05-2:18 best part. "Can you not feel the terror, like a fire, in the air?"
dude i agree wholeheartedly, every time im sunging along and it gets to that part i sing so loud my throat hurts i live it so much
Bells of Notre Dame + Alive = Madame Guillotine
This is RIDICULOUSLY accurate
_I got an ad for croissants with happy smiling children before this, I-_
Propaganda lol
I will never grow bored of this song
I could grate cheese with my goosebumps...
I love that description. And same
Hail her majesty!
The one lady who sings hella high at the end always leaves me gobsmacked,, like,, wow
Why did so many of us find this through a mix of Good Omens and Jekyll & Hyde
Same guy wrote Jekyll & Hyde and Death Note (which is where the Good Omens 'They're Only Human' animation comes from)
In the Reign of Terror, there were about 450,000 people killed. Of those, 16,594 were due to Madame Guillotine. Why? Because they were nobles, had family that had left France, or even had simply hoarded goods. Or, as another person stated: "Those who have done nothing against freedom, also have done nothing for it." Truly, the Revolutionaries had lost their reason, they had truly gone insane, to quote The Scarlet Pimpernel.
WM Very well stated! Throw in the huge amounts of poor and middle class who were butchered-some were also loaded on to barges tightly bound then the barges were sunk...I think of the illiterate seamstress at the end of A TALE OF TWO CITIES who was butchered for no reason at all...After the jackals like Robespierre and others devoured each other the French ended up with a worse tyrant/dictator-Napoleon ..What does that say about human nature?
At least Napoleon was able to get the country under control.
Annie and Elsie of Arendelle It takes a madman to reign over loons.
And I agree.
Actually yeah, but the situation was awfull, France was attacked from inside (Vendée, Girondins supporters...) and from outside (all Europe). So the gouvernement made extreme punishment to save the revolution.
I don't say it is not horrible... But than we had to understand why Robespierre AND the Montagnard act like this...
It is no black or white.
Flash ! Slash ! Scintille et taillade !
Elle va vous ravir ! Madame Guillotine !
Tranche ! Madame vient de mordre !
Donnez-lui plus à dévorer ! C'est une reine affamée !
Zing ! Savourez la morsure !
Comme elle vous coupe ! Madame Guillotine !
Tranche ! Venez au paradis !
GLOIRE À SA MAJESTÉ !
Madame Guillotine !
I wonder how this would sound like, if someone sings it

Oh shit I didn’t know the lyrics were THIS good, it’s so good and clever
Me, in Crusader Kings, when title revocation isn't available:
Should've been on the soundtrack?
How have i never heard of this song?!?!? considering the guillotine was my favorite way of execution
Oh shit!! I wasn't aware that we could have favorite ways of execution!!! I must have been absent that day!! LOL on a side note, when I was in college ( I'm an actor btw) & it was coming up on Halloween, I told the guys in the shop we should have a party and we should build a full size working guillotine....SO WE DID!!! It was incredibly DANGEROUS especially because we were a bunch of drunk ass people, so we really had to keep an eye on " Madam" so no dumbass cut off any body parts!! But, we did "chop up" many a pumpkin & watermelon & any other fruit we could find. Then the next year in our backyard ( where we had her set up), we had a lovely crop of delicious fruits & veggies, due to all the seeds we had spilled at the party!!! Ahhh college.... Good times!! I do wonder what ever happened to it though, cuz I don't remember taking it down. Hmmmm
As soon as I heard the chorus I was smitten❤
That feeling when you are Maximilien Robespierre.
As the french are currently protesting 49.3 , I remembered this song .
This helps put me in the mood to write my French revoulution report! Thanks!

I know the gutter and I know the stink of the street!
Kicked like a dog, I have spat out the bile of defeat!
All you beauties who towered above me...
¡Tú!
You!
Who gave me the smack of your rod!
¡Ahora te doy la canaleta!
Now I give you the gutter!
Te doy el juicio de Dios!
I give you the judgement of God!
¡Venganza victoriosa!
Vengence victorious!
¡Estos son los días gloriosos!
These are the glorious days!
Women of Paris come gather your bloody bouquets!
Now gaze on our goddess of justice, with her shimmering glimmering blade!
As she kisses these traitors, she sings them a last serenade!
¡Gusto!
Zing!

¡Saborea la picadura!
Savour the sting!

The Irish need to learn this song
My history teacher just introduced us to this because it went along with our history lesson. This totally has not been playing on loop for mr
Amazing
Imagine in the 1700s your about to be executed and this is what they start singing
Alright alright, this may be the best song ever written
This movie had some good songs
Saw it on Broadway 1st month
Right up there with Les Miserables and Jekyll and Hyde
This song is less fun when you learn they also excuted some of the nobles children
Well yeah, that was a large part of what the Scarlet Pimpernel was about. The one in this musical who sings
"God, when did man lose his reason?
Save us, my God, if you're there
God, can you not feel the terror like a fire in the air?"
is none other than Marquis de St. Cyr: a nobleman in the story being prepped for the guillotine. He and his entire family were executed as the beginning of this story. While the anger against him had been understandable given he'd had a man beaten for daring to court his daughter while being lowborn and because he had been collaborating with Austria during the revolution-- execution, and especially the execution of his entire family bloodline in response was in no way just.
And from what I heard in class: they let the young crown Prince who wasn't older than two rot and die in jail because executing him would rile up the rest of Europe even more, but they also couldn't let him live because they were scared he'd take back the crown as an adult... he died alone as a literal toddler... fun times...
Ya well....it happens. LOL
2:17 i love this part

I've just found this song, is it about the French revolution?
Yes
@@zoharamitai8719 thanks I had the idea but wasn't sure
@@hailliesanimations7688 actually not exactly, its just one or two years after the actual revolution, during a short period of history name "The Great Terror" when basically we tried to slay each and Every noble or ennemies to the Republic xD
@@wb5629 thanks, I've not learned about the French revolution yet but it's what my history teacher did her exam on and I wanted to show her it but wasn't sure if it was about it.

Is it just me or are these lyrics almost completely incorrect.
I LOVE GUILLOTINE'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Concerning 😂😅
Lol at this story portraying the revolutionaries as the baddies
The amount of people who seriously think the revolution was bad is surprising.
Maybe because it went south extremly fast and at the end they ended up in square one.
@@i.cs.z True. But at the same time, the ruling classes absolutely got what was coming to them. You don't starve and mistreat your people for that long before the consequences catch up. While it absolutely went too far (the wholesale round-up of entire families for execution will always be inexcusable and barbaric no matter what the justification), remember that the people carrying out this brutality had suffered similarly for generations upon generations.
The decadence, disloyalty, incompetence, irresponsibility, and sheer lack of self-awareness from the ruling elite of that time was nothing less than staggering, and more harrowing was how obviously little they cared about their fellow countrymen that it never factored into any decisions they made. I mean... they'd straight up sell out their history, their culture, their language, their places of birth, the lives of all their most loyal soldiers and subjects, and condemn their people to misery just to secure an extra title, a colony, or some more wealth. There were kings and queens from one end of Europe to the other who were selling out their nations to foreign powers like it was nothing, like it was purchasing product at the market, because to them, it really was nothing.
Hell, half the time the king ruling your nation didn't even come from your country or speak your language. You were just a fiefdom, a money machine sending taxes to them. But even the rulers born and raised would abandon you to the wolves for a shiney new bauble, and they'd sleep like a baby afterwards without a care or regret to your suffering. Because they don't think like you, nor do they care. That was how they all acted and behaved then. It's how they act now too. Just take a look at the world around you.
Eventually, as is always shown in human history, it all comes back around though. The rich and powerful play their games until those that have to suffer them decide they longer can. Then the reckoning comes, some take it too far, as is always the case in war and uprising, and when a new order is put in place, the incoming ruling class either change to fit the new demands of the people who put them there or they paint themselves the victims as if everything that happened just played out the way it did for no reason at all.
@@mgh7634 Bold of you to assume people will read all of that. Annyway, the "got what was comming to them" is true, up until the terror part of the whole ordeal.
They weren't the bad guys, but they weren't heroes either...
It's too late... their here!
Every other word gets over exaggerated
