Brendan Fraser did most of his stunt him self in these movies , and got injured , he has had both knee replacement and spinal surgery .
Mummies have had 4 containers , one with lion face is extra , maybe because he was extra special bad guy he got 5th
All hieroglyphs in this movie are correct , but written from left to right , thats wrong way , Egyptians wrote from right to left , bet it was prop people who messed that up , when their consultant Egyptologist Dr Stuart Tyson Smith would not have made so simple mistake .

@@keithmays8076 Reminds me of some dude in the news that wasn't as poetic who put his last words online. He even streamed it after commenting he wasn't going back. Dunno what he did to get sent to prison the first time, or what he did to get people chasing after him again. Was it that bad or would it be so long he would become that old man like Winston? To be broken and institutionalized and die there. Either way I don't know enough about what laws he crossed to condone or condemn him but can easily understand how he went out like that. Shooting and shot back.
Sad part to me wasn't how he went out but how people dishonored his last words. His mother(?) maybe needed money, so to grab it anyway you can? Even when it's "caught in 4k" and with what he wrote, just lie lie lie about him. Kinda messed up when ya can see his online profile and pictures with his gun. Something fancy and ornate more done as a symbol saying "this is me" than to improve the weapon. Ya see that same fancy flash quickly across the screen as he draws the weapon. He shoots a few shots and ya hear the cops put him down. That's it, stuck to his word and gone way to young.
To put two other movies to this story. In Mad Max warboys saying "witness me" was his online post. Avatar that "I see you" is me remembering him, ""oel ngati kameie" is about acknowledging that person in more ways than just looking their way, it implies respect and some form of understanding."

The Mummy is among the legendary 'Universal Monsters' franchise.
The first and original film came out 90 years ago.
It was more about horror and intrigue.
Remaking it with just those same elements wasn't enough.
Adding action, adventure and humor made it even cooler.
Brendan Fraser, who was a good actor became a major star from these films.
From the remake spawned 2 sequels, one spinoff and an animated series.
Opinions vary on the 2017 remake with Tom Cruise.
You'll have to see that for yourself.

My late wife Debbie and I viewed this one upon its original theatrical release, and since I currently own the DVD trilogy (including the Tom Cruise version and all of the 1930s through '50s franchise issues), this probably bewrays my very strong interest in the entire series. Debs worked for a time @ a CPA firm in which Brendan Fraser was a client and she acquired his autograph right around the time this film was issued, so that's one of my inherited (and somewhat prized) possessions of hers.

If you want to see how both love stories end, watch _The Mummy Returns_ . That's the last movie of this franchise that is worth watching, and especially for a sequel, it's quite good. Rick and Evie are married and have a cute little smart-mouthed (but genuinely clever and charming) son. We also get much more of the backstory in flashbacks, so this movie sort of serves as a prequel, as well.

I have a theory that the reason why the Mummy (evil guy) thought the girl (female lead) was his past lover was because the eyes he took from the first guy were that bad- like his eyesight was terrible, homie fr said "Where's my glasses. I can't see without my glasses."
We even get a glimpse of how bad his sight is. I'm sticking with this theory cause there ain't no way that a guy who goes through all that trouble gets a girl who looks nothing like his past lover.

Horses have a faster top speed, but horses aren’t meant to be in a desert. Trying to walk, much less run, on sand is an incredibly difficult and taxing endeavor. Camels on the other hand have feet that are specifically designed to help them move on sand. So while horses are technically faster, a camel will move much faster and travel for much longer than a horse. The horses the Americans were using were probably already exhausted by the time they even got to Hamunaptra.

The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they got the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains, save for ONE omitted detail: when the red-hot poker went into the nostril, they punched a hole in the skull of the descended person to allow the brain to be drained through the nasal cavity. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus. No matter how many times I've seen the movie.

    LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
In the early 90's, horror film directors Wes Craven, John Landis, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Clive Barker, George Romero, Mick Garris, and Joe Dante were considered for making a Mummy film, but they unsuccessful.
Stephen Sommers, a huge fan of the original film was picked to direct the film after his last movie, DEEP RISING bombed at the box office a year earlier.
Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were considered for O'Connell till Brendan Fraser was cast.
The film was a box office and critical success making $420 million dollars against a $75 million dollar budget.
The film was rebooted with Tom Cruise in 2017, but recieved negative Reviews by Critics and fans, and it bombed at the box office making $400 million dollars against a $200 million dollar budget.
It was cited to be the worst movie of Cruise's career.

Camels have been clocked at around 40mphs for short bursts, so, in a short burst race, yes, they could compete with a horse, especially in the desert as their feet are more adapted to running on sand than a horse, so your horse is going to have a much harder time getting up to their max speed. Also, camels are much better in the environment in general than a horse would be.

lol 'Is it the ocean?' No it is the river Nile. It is and has been the main avenue of transport in Egypt going back millenia. If you are going North - South it is likely via a barge on the Nile. Heck the one Bond film I can remember that visisted Egpyt (The Spy who Loved Me 1977) they even had Mr Bond travelling the Nile via barge. Iconic like a horse carriage ride in Central Park in NYC or via a canal boat in Venice.

Once you realise that this movie has no blood or gore or even any serious horror moments you should realise it for what it is: a good-time adventure story in the tradition of Indian Jones. Not a classic but probably something you'd rewatch if nothing's better is on.

It’s way better than the Tom Cruise version. It has the corny but fun Indiana Jones vibe instead of the overused end of the world trope.

The CGI was done by Industrial Light and Magic, at that time the absolute best in the business. The particle effects (turning into sand, the big sandstorm with the face) were really cutting edge. It looks a bit dated now but at the time it was pretty mind blowing.
IMO this was a near perfect movie. I loved it, my wife is big into Egyptian stuff so she loved it too. The second film isn't as good but it's still fun. The last act is a bit dumb, and features some of the worst CGI ever made, but overall it was a decent movie.

One of the best scare adventure comedies ;-) The second movie completes the story, not quite as good, and the third movie is unrelated, but uses the two lead actors.
