I’ve just watched all these sly 2 videos back to back and I’ve got to say, I’ve seen almost every sly video on RUclips from good to pretty bad and these are undoubtedly some of my favourites, this content is so informative and entertaining, you explore things nobody else does and it makes for amazing content, please tell me you plan on doing the same for sly 1, 3 and even 4, I’d love to see them. Just keep going man whatever it takes to be a successful RUclipsr, you have it!
He already did a let's play of Sly 1, but this series seems to be the first of a major rebrand for the channel and I haven't watched the older stuff, so I don't know how similar it is to this format
I'm pretty sure that Sly does trigger an 'easy mode' if you die a certain amount of times while playing the game, which is essentially just taking less damage like you pointed out. I remember watching Sly 2 speed running streams and hearing it get mentioned but couldnt find anything official on it, so not sure what exactly needs to be done to trigger this mode.
That’s definitely worth looking into. I know I’ve died a TON in these runs just experimenting with mission fail conditions and the like. It’s just fascinating to me I’ve never seen it mentioned in any forums or wikis.
@@2CPhoenix yeah I couldn't find anything online either. It may be worth it trying to talk to some of the guys in the Sly Speedrunning community if you're interested. They're super nice and helpful guys and they know the games inside out and will probably know more information about it
It's called "Suck" in the game's code. If you activate the dev menu in a certain version of the game you can see it. It's actually dynamic difficulty a year before RE4 made that famous. Sly 3 has it as well. That's the sad thing about the move to Discord, in the Sly server we've known about it for probably 4 or 5 years.
16:44 Fun fact! If my memory serves me right, wooly mammoths were actually smaller than modern day elephants, so that mammoth is probably meant to be a fully grown adult.
Something that always stuck out to me is the white snow adorning this level and the one prior. The protagonists stick out the most against these backdrops. In the previous level, it made you feel kinda powerful, like your robbing Jean Bison in broad daylight. In this one, you might start to feel a little exposed, and that slots in nicely with the ending.
You can actually trigger it in a ton of Sly’s Binocucom convos just by using his aerial slam attack into a trigger. I figured this out as a kid and now I do it every time I start one of Sly’s jobs if I can.
I always wondered why they had to get ALL of Clockwerk if I was Sly I would’ve just gone after the wings heart and eyes then just stashed those and disappeared
I find it weird that Jean isnt angry about his iron horses in the opening wouldn't it make since for him to knowingly use the talons as bait for the theives that stole his previous parts?
I actually knew of the damage decrease and the rocks no longer doing damage in the late game. And before I could ever beat the game myself, I used a save file from my cousin and found the Laser Redirection bug while free roaming and basically played the rest of this episode before even knowing the story leading up to it. It was kind of cool being able to reset an episode without having to type in the cheat.
This series inspired me to do a fresh 100% run of Sly 2. I finished in 18 hours and felt great about it, but re-watching this series afterward reminded me that I am NOT GOOD at playing Sly Cooper 😅
"All sides of this cabin are entirely submerged in snow. Is that something Canadians actually have to deal with? That sounds like a nightmare." _Sometimes, yes_ lmao. It's mainly the far, wild north that's shrouded in eternal winter. The actual populated parts of Canada are far less cold than the stereotypes would have you believe, but we still have the occasional ridiculous snowfall.
Hey man just want you to know me & my girlfriend really like watching these sly videos. & even when I’m not watching the series with her I put them on to fall asleep to, they are edited & done really well & if you keep it up the viewer numbers will come, I was surprised to see how many views these got. I was really expecting over 100K easy, even for such old games. Really hope you continue to do these for the other sly games. Would love to see you do the whole series
Idk if I'm the only one that has said this already regarding the guards throwing rocks, but when your character gets hit, they have the red outline for like a second or however long and it basically acts as immunity, if you get hit or something again while the red is still around you, you don't take damage (that may only be the case on the ps2 version, idk I haven't tested that out)
I don't have a recording of it but when I was a kid and played this level and went back into that laser room after completing the level it would show the missions available afterward and it I believe it happened after restarting the laser button
The Laser Redirection glitch actually did affect me. I played these games a ton as a child, and I did exactly that at one point. I think I had beaten the game, and I remember being incredibly confused when I was back in the chapter. I wasn't too upset because this leve was one of my favorites as a kid, but I was very confused
I hate to burst the rpg bubble. The defense acutally comes from a “Noob Mode” after dying a lot in the same area on a save file you’ll take less damage. If it’s in a boss fight the bosses will actually slow down too
One small detail I absolutely love is the low piano hit when sly says “failure” in the final cutscene, it makes the word hit so much harder and every time I hear it. Also there’s a chord that feels that is designed to be a chord made for anticipation, so when the chord hits it hits even harder. When i hear it I feel like sly, twitching for action. Incredible music design, how one chord plus a single word can convey such deep emotion. It’s amazing Edit: if you wanna hear it it’s 55:30
I replayed sly 2 on emulator and used cheats to unlock all powerups from start. I remember using the guttural roar in the boss fight with Rajan and it absolutely works on him hahaha! He runs away from like a little baby, laughed my ass off.
The Laser Redirection glitch happened to me on my old PS2 can definitely confirm, I'd always noticed when checking through the episode menu, viewing the stats on that specific episode were always off by 7% and always had me thinking I kept forgetting to save but that impossible because the gane has auto save
The reason you aren't taking any damage from the small pebbles is because of the dynamic difficulty of the game, internally in the game files it's called the SUCK (as in "you suck if you activated this"). It triggers if you die too many times during a specific job or during your playthrough. SUCK can give you more health, make enemies and/or bosses deal less damage, make some enemies' attack animations slower, and so on. The Rajan boss fight is a great way to see just how much SUCK can change the game, Rajan's attacks get noticeably slower after you trigger it. Great video!
wow, this was a good video. it was hard at times figuring out when it was you talking and when it was Sly. But I didn't mind, I like Sly a lot I'm excited to see the next one but as a person with no money I will have to content myself with your other videos for now. Also subed :)
11:55 HAHA I figured this out before you They can indeed but I think it’s only in the ps2 edition because Sanzaru being Sanzaru which is kinda wild, effectively the same as getting stoned to death if you think about it which is kinda dark Can’t wait for the last episode I’m gonna do a rewatch of all of these breakdowns leading up to the last one Edit: ok so I got really confused there for a second because I know I remember experimenting with this back when I was younger and it working And I figured because you weren’t taking damage and were playing the remaster that Sanzaru was the reason it wasn’t working but it’s good to see it’s just a glitch
The glitch happened to me as a kid, not on my first playthrough but I got rid of my file cause I thought it broke, I was bummed but then didnt mind playing again
I'd like to offer the idea that the stuffed moose head isn't nearly as strange as most people make it out to be. If you take it at face value I can understand why it's so strange, but humans have made tons of masks of other humans. In particular latex masks of US presidents aren't particularly uncommon. Granted, they aren't very lifelike, so theoretically the Sly Cooper equivalent shouldn't be very convincing, but the world of Sly Cooper has always played very fast and loose with worldbuilding and the distinction between logic and cartoon.
That sawmill memory glitch happened to me but after it happened, literally any amount of progress I made after that point wouldn’t save so I had to just delete the file
here i thought the "retrigger the mission" glitch was something special i found as a kid lol. what i disliked the most about chapter 7 is that you have to climb up the lighthouse 3 times. twice for missions, once for treasure. ugh i also dont get why the ending of this chapter ends with them jumping into the battery... murray throwing bentley up there, then using the "spring" to get up himself. why couldnt all 3 have used that spring? AND what i actually get even less, couldnt they destroy the clockwerk parts before? the entire issue of "bison sold them all" is because the gang kept them with em all the time

Idk how the weird hat glitch wasn’t mentioned at 38:43 but I cracked up seeing a blue blob just in front of his face lol
I'm pretty sure that Sly does trigger an 'easy mode' if you die a certain amount of times while playing the game, which is essentially just taking less damage like you pointed out. Did anyone else notice Sly's hat acting up in the 'Thermal Ride' section? Don't think I've seen that before...
I think it's a mix of pride and fear. Sly wouldn't be able to rest unless he knew that ALL of Clockwork was somewhere away from everyone.
As long as the brain is still out there, I'd be worried the other parts could be replaced eventually.
Bentley's dialogue from opening the vault is word for word the same as one from Sly 1. The combo is only one digit off as well.
I find it weird that Jean isnt angry about his iron horses in the opening wouldn't it make since for him to knowingly use the talons as bait for the theives that stole his previous parts?

17:50 yeah it happened to me as a kid haha, when I saw the laser mission in this video nightmares have returned
Same lol
"All sides of this cabin are entirely submerged in snow. Is that something Canadians actually have to deal with? That sounds like a nightmare."
_Sometimes, yes_ lmao. It's mainly the far, wild north that's shrouded in eternal winter. The actual populated parts of Canada are far less cold than the stereotypes would have you believe, but we still have the occasional ridiculous snowfall.
You dont think Jean Bison is the type of guy to mount the head of one of his guards if they aren't to quality of standard?
I haven't seen anyone else point this out but at 32:44 that is the Dark Cloud 2 game over soundtrack :D
Hey man just want you to know me & my girlfriend really like watching these sly videos. & even when I’m not watching the series with her I put them on to fall asleep to, they are edited & done really well & if you keep it up the viewer numbers will come, I was surprised to see how many views these got. I think the aurora story has fun context now a days with the solar storms we've been getting this year.
Sweet More Content. (Keep up the great work! The Content is awesome always a highlight of my day.)
Can’t forget that there are cheat codes to restart episodes to replay missions
Is there? I've used the cheats before on my 100% save and it just warps me to the episode with no replay capability
@ yah if you google the cheat codes, there are ones to restart the episode you want
@@SkySword20 I swear I've done that as well, but all it does is respawn me in the episode's safehouse without any replay capability.
I don't have a recording of it but when I was a kid and played this level and went back into that laser room after completing the level it would show the missions available afterward and it I believe it happened after restarting the laser button

The world doesn’t need to make space for another strip mall

Saturday just became 100x better!!!
Some of the best content on any of the sly games.

let’s go been waiting for this!
11:55 HAHA I figured this out before you
They can indeed but I think it’s only in the ps2 edition because Sanzaru being Sanzaru
which is kinda wild, effectively the same as getting stoned to death if you think about it which is kinda dark
Can’t wait for the last episode I’m gonna do a rewatch of all of these breakdowns leading up to the last one
Edit: ok so I got really confused there for a second because I know I remember experimenting with this back when I was younger and it working
And I figured because you weren’t taking damage and were playing the remaster that Sanzaru was the reason it wasn’t working but it’s good to see it’s just a glitch
These videos are too good!
The lumberjack games music is rad
Do sly 3 after you finish 2 pls
The glitch happened to me as a kid, not on my first playthrough but I got rid of my file cause I thought it broke, I was bummed but then didnt mind playing again

You know, the laser mission would be far easier and faster if sly already knew his father's secret technique
Yes I found the "Laser Redirection" level glitch as a kid by accident
here i thought the "retrigger the mission" glitch was something special i found as a kid lol.
what i disliked the most about chapter 7 is that you have to climb up the lighthouse 3 times.

that glitch happend to me, back in 2011
Everyone should know that forrests don't exist in Nunavut.
We eating good today everyone!
Would you look at that!
