    Love it. Yep, we always did the warm water bath foe a quick release. And only one box of jello for the fruit layer to gel up nice and pretty first. Then a few hours later the 2nd box. Overnight it all sets up just fine as one

    I love how you never shy away from making mistakes and just go with it and show us that we're all just human. You have a very Bob Ross-like attitude towards it and I love that. There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents. So your jello mold didn't turn out perfect? That's fine, you still have jello fruit salad and not for nothing it's still delicious. Love your energy Kev, hope you're doing well. Stay awesome

    My Paw paw (RIP) always had a homemade sour cream pound cake for his birthday, but it wasn't complete unless he had jello fruit cocktail to go with it. Some people like birthday cake and ice cream. Paw paw liked pound cake and jello and fruit cocktail.

      Your Paw Paw was my kind of guy! That is exactly how I like my pound cake (or any cake!). So much better than ice cream, which I like but not on cake.

    Kevmo, my brother, this recipe brings back so many memories when I was a kid in the 70's. My mom would make it in a Corning Ware dish. She'd also let us have spoon fulls of the jello before it was poured into the dish. Thanks.

    Awesome!
    I always feel a little cheesy making my Mom's Thanksgiving jello mold but honestly it's so delicious. She always made it with raspberry jello and frozen raspberries. Use only half the hot water and make the rest half cold water and half cold juice. I chose cherry juice this year. Then it's just adding the frozen berries and letting it set for a couple hours. Then a layer of lightly sweetened sour cream or yogurt. Let that set and then add the rest of the jello and frozen berries. Chill and set overnight. It's just very good. Light, fruity, sweet and creamy. I'm not brave enough to unmold mine. I just made it in a see through dish. Your version is another great variation of Mom's jello mold.

    Here are some Jello tips I learned: 1. When making Jello in a mold, reduce the cold water by half. 2. Before adding to the mold, chill the Jello until it begins to thicken slightly. 3. If the Jello does not easily release from the mold, dampen a kitchen towel with warm water and press lightly against the inverted mold until you hear it release. 4. The best hack is to forget the mold and serve it in a pretty glass bowl.

    If you don't want your fruit to move, when you ladle in jello, stop after the fruit and refrigerate it until it's firm. Leave the rest of the jello on the counter and let it come to room temp. When the jello and fruit are firm, add the rest of the plain jello on top and chill till firm. Regardless of the pan you use, to not have your mold stick, either spray it first with an oil spray like Pam (make sure you use the one with no flour in it.) Or before you try to flip your jello out of thd mold, dip the pan in a sink full of warm water for a few seconds. Don't feel bad, jello tastes good anyway. It just takes a while to learn all the tricks and hacks to get the perfect jello mold.

    Chef Kevin! No please Do not put it in the Bundt pan the next time! My mom made this weekly in the 1970s, which is such an amazing memory… Just put the drained canned fruit in little glass sundae cups or glass bowls and then pour the Jell-O mixture on top (like you did) and just let that cool off… When you take them out of the fridge, they are single servings and you don’t have to invert them at all and worry about any sticking situation… Love you, Kev hope you’re feeling OK!

  • @atourdeforce
    @atourdeforce 10 месяцев назад

    Maybe also use 75% of the water next time as well. The jelly didnt look as firm as it could be to my eyes. I never go by the packet it always makes the jelly not as firm and doesnt hold together great.
    Youre bang on with the hot water it males all the difference. I boil a kettle, put the jelly upside down on a plate in the sink and pour a full kettle of boiling water over the mould. It comes out like a dream.
