Such an emotional victory. Brought a tear to my eye to see EDG overcome so much and complete the storybook ending and win Worlds. Each player defeated their personal demons and overcame their struggles to get here.
Flandre spent so many years with Snake and the team decided to openly trade him last year putting him in such a tough spot.
Finally found a team that he could mesh so well with.
Jiejie, one of the youngest players at the tournament, filling the big shoes of Clearlove, experienced a tough year where people classified him as the weak link of the team. He was so hard on himself for his poor performance against WE in summer playoffs. But he built a ton of confidence after winning the summer split and carried it into Worlds.
Scout, for so long was the one player on EDG carrying the team and trying to bring them to success. Has been with the team since 2015/2016. But stuck it out and finally got a team where didn’t have to carry so much of the load.
Viper, experienced such a tough year last year with the collapse of Griffin, the underperformance with HLE. Started a new adventure in China where he was able to regain his confidence, rediscover his strengths, and return to his former self.
Finally, Meiko. The stalwart and heart of EDG. Been with the team even longer than Scout. Endured so many disappointing international performances with EDG. But after 7 years, he finally is able to raise the Summoner’s Cup.
Shoutout to Maokai, KenZhu, and the rest of the staff too. They always had their player’s backs and supported them.
I also want to give a ton of respect to DK. Thank you for an amazing series. They had such a historic Worlds performance and were very dominant throughout the entire tournament. They have a ton of talent there and I expect them to be competing for more international titles in the future.
This was such a great moment for EDG fans, LPL fans, and China as a whole. Congratulations EDG!! You deserve it!!

Jiejie played well on the night of the finals as this year's fielder and went for the royal son to help EDG to an excellent victory. He was once doubted and considered to be the team's breakthrough, but he proved himself and helped EDG to the ultimate victory. The youngsters finally took home their trophy.
Most importantly, they won a lot of money and fame together as champions, and the EDG players once again proved to the world that gaming is a career that can last a lifetime and not just a bunch of youthful antics. According to The Sports Rush (L4NC3L077 & Reddy, 2022), the prize pool for this year's LOL World Championship is $2.1 million. At the same time, the players will be worth a lot of money, and I think the players are worth it. Especially Meiko, Scout and others who have been with EDG since 2015, their love for EDG and League of Legends has gotten them this far and finally reaped the rewards of their coveted S-Tournament - the League of Legends Global Finals in 2021. The title that countless others have been seeking is once again held by the LPL and EDG.

Honestly EDG peaked at the right moment, you can see their gameplay improving after every match. DK peaked when they defeated T1, and I feel that they already show their limits and EDG have a chance to study that. While nobody besides LPL fans have seen what EDG are truly capable of, until the finals. By which time DK is lost not knowing the limits of EDG potential and trying to counter EDG draft in Game 4 and Game 5 is their biggest downfall.

    • @kswiss220
      @kswiss220 2 года назад

The reason is because EDG doesn't proposed theirs games.
Al the games between EDG, RNG and DK they wait for an error.
In game 5 see the 3 first kills:
1.- Beryl's mistakes on his CC
      2.- Khan mistakes.
--- (see 19:20) how DK try to kill Scout.
3.- Khan try to kill Flandre.
An I can explain all the games (EDG vs T1, RNG, GEN, DK...etc) if you want. EDG is a good team but they don't proposed the game.

However for the Chinese teams, they win by pure fights and picks, always going for the risky unexpected 50/50 teamfights that Korean teams tend to not be able to match.

We all know LCK's team are good at methodical strategies, but if one champion (zoe) has enough damage to finish one of your teamate in one or two shoot, you strategy is meaningless. Zoe is that point, and that's why I said DWA' coaches despised EDG. They are not well-prepared.

EDG as a team and individually overcame many difficulties and barriers, the well known passing beyond quarterfinals, finally beating RNG with this roster and even they lost to RNG in Summer the previous year, now, they finally didn't fall to the pressure and they all performed and recovered from losses in a series, particularly, Scout. Jiejie had proven he's the best jungler right now, when sometimes he struggled in the past, Flandre dominating the laning phase, he could lose it this year. Meiko's hesitation during shotcalling didn't look to be a problem anymore.

-skt remains the only team to have won multiple worlds titles, and the only one to have won it back to back
-RNG and EDG, the 2 most iconic LPL teams ever, got recognition this year. Spring was for RNG and summer was for EDG
-Flandre is the first Chinese top to have won worlds. No 100% Chinese mid won worlds yet, but since scout made all of his career in LPL, and LPL is the place where he earned all of his skills, he can be considered as a true LPL midlaner, not a LCK midlaner, as doinb in 2019.
-since 2018, LPL has won 5 international titles, and LCK has only won one (so tied up to LEC OMEGALUL just kidding LCK is way better than LEC)
-first time ever that EDG pass the quarterfinals, first time they win worlds
-EDG became the second team ever to have a MSI and a worlds title to its name, after SKT
-first time LPL 1st seed and LCK 1st seed matches in the world finals
-GENG/SSG has now win and lost at every stage of worlds possible (groups/quarters/semis/finals)
-Faker came closer than ever since 2017 to access to the world finals
-first worlds ever where not a single western team wins even a single game
-all the bo5 were either 3-0 or 3-2. -First time we have 4 silver scrapes at worlds, and first time that semis and finals are that close, all 3 bo5 going up to 5 games
-khan is 6-0 in LCK finals but 0-6 at international tournaments, being shut down by LPL 3 times (RNG two times at MSI (2018, 2021) and by EDG today)
-first time a team has to play 15 games during the main stage at worlds

Flandre had some missteps in the tournament, although, he was performing in and out lane since LPL Summer playoffs, yep, Jiejie owned that jungle and also, watched over all lanes. As they even said in their comms, they know Scout can win with his mechanics, it was a proactive jg/mid meta with side lanes domination and timing to get map control, not much about dueling, most of the time when that happened, it was individual mistakes, during teamfights Jiejie was the initiator, sometimes Meiko when he had engage supports, Rakan/Leona. Their teamfight skill and coordination was simply amazing and the early macro so good, getting all those plates and turrets.

@@vigil3429 They don't think they are a 1v9 specialist individually which is what Korea is known for and at the end of the day you can only do so much by yourself. EDG didn't even challenge them individually like most of the game they won was just sneaky plays and just macro moves which is impressive coz DK didn't even know what to do to keep their objectives on point "How can Shoemaker carry if he's not fed? How can Jungle roam effectively if he keeps getting countered via objective" they just played so smart it was anticlimactic how the B05 went coz there was barely any clown fiestas since T1 vs DK had alot of Clashes so it was underwhelming watching the finals. Pretty sure T1 got alot from that B05 and it would be interesting how they can make a strat like that on their own

That's not how it works, did you notice EDG lost the whole year to RNG, then, they finally beat them in quarterfinals? So, who knows if DK could have had the upper hand this time, in Summer, Wei had problems with his smite game, they lost in part because of him losing those against LNG, even icon as LeBlanc, took a dragon in a 50/50. This time Cryin was playing for the team, roaming and sacrificing CS, but, unlike MSI, he made misplays in crucial times. EDG Vs RNG was a good series, but, EDG improved through the tournament, those are the teams that finally end up winning the World Championship, along with those who impose the meta, as FPX did in 2019.

If DK would have won, ShowMaker was projected to get it. The Eng broadcast didn't show it, but, JieJie had the MVP for the 2 1st wins. It was a steal, an arbitrary decision.
