Thank you all for joining us for our 2nd episode! I couple quick things to note: 1. It's my fault the audio is still a bit imbalanced - lessons learned and we're working to fix this for future episodes (TLDR I deleted my individual audio...) 2. A perfect example of a hero that isn't good in other formats and gets written off as a result in Commoner is Azalea. Dominate is incredibly powerful in the format due to not being able to block between 4-6 from your armor alone. As a result, Azalea's hero power essentially being an on demand dominate effect is extremely powerful, and now thanks to the number of arrows that have relevant on hits going a dominated arrow like Fatigue Shot with a red Oveflex buff starts to look very scary when you're at 20 life and your opponent can do that basically every turn.
I got 9 in my pro quest using Benji and did 25 damage in one turn. Everyone was shocked that I used him and gave me a slight advantage against some people but had fun playing him.
Most fun i had with commoner was making a lexi deck with talishar. I focused on ice and going tall. Not one arrow in the deck. Going to try something similar with ira. First attack on hit with a damage boost for the next attack, plus her ability.
I think Commoner has a brighter future than Blitz ATM. There are some key bans that need to happen; Belittle & Minnowism and possibly Ravenous Rabble and Scar for Scar. But Commoner is where a lot of heroes can shine fully and show off what makes their class/talents special. Blitz right now is fun but it’s like; “How can I OTK you?” or “If I swing for 15… I won’t have to block…” Not every deck is like that in blitz but it does seem like that. Commoner, I feel like I am playing the way FAB played when it launched or the way it was intended to flow.
I have a few issues with commoner: 1. Unfair to certain heroes: As you guys said at the podcast, some heroes aren't really playable in commoner like Data Doll or Katsu. Especially Katsu hurts, because he is one of the classic heroes, who needs his combo pieces to really work (which are mainly rare cards.) That is especially problematic for new players, who want to learn the gameplay of each hero (what isn't really possible with heroes like Katsu at least in the commoner format). 2. Confusing for beginners: We had in our FaB group some arguing with new players, who (legitimately) didn't understand why some rare cards are allowed in commoner (rare heroes and weapons like Kassai and her Sintari sabers) and other cards are forbidden. The name says commoner, so they thought only common cards would be legal. 3. Blitz Precons: Another problem are Players, who just have a precon Blitz Deck. They can of course play Blitz, but I doubt that the Precons see any light in this format (although they are quite good). Commoner would be easier (compared to the power level), but because of the few rare cards in them they aren't allowed (except you make some modifications, what is much to ask for someone who is entirely new to the game). My sacrilegious solution for all this problems: Just allow rare cards in commoner. Pros: 1. They are not really more expansive than commons (23 cent instead of 8 cent for example) 2. There are already rare cards allowed in the format (heroes and equipment) 3. Heroes like Katsu would be playable again 4. Precon Blitz Decks are out of the box playable Cons: 1. the name commoner wouldn't make much sense anymore, if you allow rare cards (although it makes already not much sense, because of the already allowed rare cards). How about we call this format "Basic Blitz", "Tiny Blitz" or my favourite: "Comrares" (You know, because of commons + rares...just kidding) Maybe the problem is, that many FaB players are from Magic (like me) and so they just transferred the pauper format into FaB. The problem with this is, that the mechanics in Magic and FaB are quite different and so we have some problems in commoner which don't exist in pauper. Conclusion: I think the idea behind commoner is great and we really need an affordable constructed format in FaB, but I think the execution is lacking and could be better. What do you guys think? Is my critic legit or do I see problems, where there are none?
I made a viserai commoner deck using nebula blade... Whispers of the oracle full set so I can have an off turn and use whispers to arrange my next turn and still hit for 4 off nebula
@@RedZoneRogue yeah I thought that, but I was running it in commoner before. It is great for setting you up with a runechant for next turn but also you can use it off of a two card hand so you don't completely lose tempo. My deck is mid range.... With the on a knife edge nebula may become an opener attack leading in to a read the runes so my next turn could start with 5 runechants.
Personally, I’m so stoked for Iyslander to get a wider card-pool for Commoner. When it was just Kano, I never gave Wizard a thought. But Iyslander has become a mild obsession for me, and I’m planning to have a guide for myself to shift her between Commoner, Blitz, and CC
Commoner may just be the best format, so much more back and forth and less polarizing matchups. I know I know Runeblades good, but honestly it's not to the level it was in CC or Blitz.
More fab podcasts! I love may the zoo be with you. And I love this one too I just wish people wouldn't give Louie such a hard time and I can't believe LSS cut him out of the creators program.

I use commoner Dori and bravo to teach the basics then ask them Wich hero they want to try since I built commoner battle box

Gotta get some of that Classic Battles sword spice in there!

Thanks for the podcast.
As a new player, commoner format looks really interesting
Question: Which hero would you have a shoey with?
Lexi seems like a lot of fun XD

How the f*** do you have a proquest with only eight people...
Gr8 Cast!
Thank you! 😁
