Okay, I’ll admit to being around in 1974. My feeling is that this sounds like Motown, mixed with rap, mixed with 80’s rock. Very clever, Ren. Love it when he sings!
Seventies vibe brother. Thats before your time but Smokey blues lounge feel. Hence back on ‘74. He’s the man. It’s a jungle song he slowed down a bit and threw his rap in and then sting(Police) message in a bottle cover but a half key higher. He’s definitely an artist of the highest order. Kind of like Prince or Michael Jackson. Lucky to be around with music like this and an artist like him. I mean if you close your eyes you would have a hard time deciphering between Ren and young Sting, which is a huge compliment because Sting if an all time great Hall of Famer.

Jungle’s “Back on 74” has nothing to do with a year. The “74” is actually a fictitious 74th St.; It’s anyplace you think back on when reminiscing about the “good times”. Which is what the song is about. By the way…, it is a great song on its own… But Ren here just kills it with the his voice, the instrument breakdown,, and the harmonious back up singers. Ren referring to “back in 1974” is something Ren added, most likely because the vibe of this song and video is definitely reminiscent of 70’s soul/r&b. Even Kai with his post-beatnik look and chill demeanor, sets the tone here. The first verse is all “Back on 74” … the second is a mash up of the lyrics of “Back on 74” sung over the main riff from “Message in a Bottle”. Then the third part is Ren adding his own rap verse. And finally it drops full on into Message in a Bottle. All done so seamlessly as he did with the Fred Again mashup.

If you haven't yet - - - You missed some of Rens rapping, you were talking over part of it. Listen to it again. Now sir, you have to go watch Jungle and those dancers, dancing to this song. It's a heavy fantastic outstanding vibe! A bit faster in tempo then Rens retake. It's FANTASTIC, the dancers are awesome! Makes me want to be 50 years years when I used to dance all the time. No idea who the singer is on the Jungle music. We don't see any singers.
As Ren said in "Hi" "There are victims andvthere are students" . He's been a victom of some special s**t. But he's cacstudentbog the art form. (Or should I say "Professor"?)
It's a soulful vibe. To me the lyrics hardly matter. I think thats a hip hop thing. Having said that, Rens lyrics in the rap section are a mix of brag and social commentary.
