Ren also directs or shares directing of his videos, and is involved with color grading in post production. Samuel Perry-Falvey said in an interview that as Ren's health has improved, his skills have kept growing. Also, Ren said he sees his future more in the field of directing.
Just to note a couple more details that Ren included here - In Jungle videos there are graceful female dancers & there is framed art somewhere in the scene. In Ren's video the women are making graceful dance-like moves & there's lots of framed art.
This is just delicious! ♥ I am vibing and grooving, slipping back to my youth again. Chair dancing. Ren so versatile Ren is like a box of chocolates then when you least expect it someone gives you another box and you have to start all over again. ♥☺
I connected with this one quite a bit, and not only because I was born in 1974, either. Love the vocals and guitar play from everyone involved. Ren’s an alien, right?👽 That’s the only logical explanation I can come up with for what he’s capable of doing. All kidding aside, though…the man puts in the work to achieve these results. Ren has said that he wants to make a timeless record. I’m very interested in learning what his definition of that is, and how it’ll sound. I truly feel sorry for all those poor saps that are gone now, that never got to hear him sing and sadly never will.😢 What an absolute shame. I’d undoubtedly would strive to be an even better human being if I knew Rens singing and voice would be waiting for me up in heaven.
Man, that's a great way to put it! Born in '72 here, but that's not why I like Turn the Page by Bob Segar, so I get what you're saying :-) Yes, he absolutely puts in the work! I always try to avoid saying any musician has some sort of "natural talent", but with Ren it's more like an odd unlimited potential. For most people, I think we all have upper limits on how much talent we can achieve in any given area, and it;s a matter of finding the right areas for us to work hard at and improve to a high level. For some people, it just seems like the sky is the limit for everything they do, but they've still gotta put in the work to get there.
Motowns Smokey Robinson, dead ringer. Hey Dad, where are the girls? I have to go to Valentino's in Brighton... I'm sure Ren picked up on Jungle using Police vibes for their ditty.
Yes, brings back such memories 🍸🎶😎🕺what an era we lived in. ( Funk/ disco/ Reggae / rock mix ) Ren is fantastic at everything he put into it with the great team behind him 💞
Loved how Ren was doing the "Let it go" backup vocals for the second part of "Back on '74" (and having the guitar groove from Message in a Bottle with that part of the song), and they flipped it to "Let it go" from the backup singers on Message in a Bottle, the mix of the two songs a in the middle part, with Ren's own rap splitting the second mixed part, and Message in a Bottle. He's got a real knack for mixing and mashing... it would have been super impressive even if he hadn't killed the vocals all the way through the song. I've seen him busking Message in a Bottle before (on RUclips, sadly never seen a live performance in the real world), and it was impressive, but he's grown so much as a singer and musician, at this point I'm sure Gordon (Sting) himself could listen to this and he'd probably cry at the beauty of it. Love to see a full version cover or remix of the song by Ren.
Completely agree with everything you said! Having watched this video a gazillion more times since this reaction I have a lot more thoughts, that's just what happens to me with every Ren song.
I don't remember exactly how I worded it, but I meant it more like sound engineering (correcting volumes, removing hiss, adjusting bass/treble levels, etc.) If you've ever used a lapel mic, you know how the slightest movement of your head can change the volume, then you watch Hi Ren with his massive head shifts and think "no way". Then you listen to him talk about spending hours and days just adjusting the volume levels of each word and it's just mind-boggling. That being said, I DO think he would be a wonderful DJ also!
Liked your insights here. And love this song. Since you like "Hold On," there's a live stream on RUclips on him that starts with a great version of "Hold On," but then he does several other songs or parts of songs. If you haven't seen that, you really should.
Sting lost his ability to sing alot of the police songs live....Ren's technique to me can last a long time....only thing is that Sting played Base... :)
It was really great watching Ren's interview with Chris Liepe, where he was talking about learning how to sing with proper technique from watching RUclips videos like Chris', and Chris seemed genuinely touched by that.
Big time Police fan here, back in the day. I have never been so captivated by a young artist like Ren. I love his song & guitar. Great reaction.
💯
Thanks, and I agree!
I love how happy and smiley Ren is in this one!
Agreed!

Yes, it's hard to imagine how much he'll accomplish with good health. I really hope he gets the Netflix deal he's been working towards.

Yes, good point. I have every confidence that was intentional.

Didn't Forrest Gump say that - Ren is like a box of chocolates?
@@DadDaughtersandDrinks Yes he did, and bless his heart and the writers of that movie. Great line.

I managed to get one of the girls for a few other Ren videos I just posted. I'm hoping to have all three this weekend!

Interesting what you said about his mixing skills. But yes, he could be a wonderful DJ too....😎🎶🎵🎛️🎧🎚️

Huh, I haven't seen that. I'll need to look that up! Thanks!
Great reaction.
Thanks!
I thought your drink and REN’s musical choices, with the visuals, were well matched…
Huh, I hadn't thought about that but you're right!
Jungle was the band back to 74
Ren has such a distinctive voice you can’t miss him. This whole song is just awesome. Good reaction
