Imo all of their stuff reminds me of Vildhjarta. I've been listening to IA since Everchanger, i discovered Vildhjarta only recently, but i totally got those vibes.
@@brechtdta I have had IA on my radar for probably a year, but I have not listened to them as much as I am now. I love Heavener and I am going to dig deep into their previous records. I have been a huge fan of Vildhjarta since 2011. So I love hear some mild similarities. IA are playing with some Vildhjarta techniques in their songs, but IA is making it their own. Mixed in with the emotions is incredible for me. I am definately a huge fan now.
@@emptycloud2774 Heavener sounds probably the most "Vildhjarta" of their discography because they were probably heavily influenced by Masstaden Under Vatten. I know at least Trey and Caleb loved that record.
Alot of Thall influences in this album. ESPECIALLY the song False Meridian. What really distinguishes the sound is the extremely downtuned syncopated rythms coupled with random chromatic bends and very high disonant chords thrown inbetween.
Well done! 1:30 - 1:54 and 3:05 - 3:37 are my favorite pieces of the entire song. Such a nasty and groovy bit. Can't forget that the intro riff absolutely smacks as well.
It is insane how this riff was made by a human being It's some genuine beautiful stuff. Especially the fact that it isn't perfect in the song, so it feels much more genuine, and almost feels more skilled These guys are absolutely insane.
@@aprioris.knowledge2765 do you hear how, in the original song, the higher pitch parts of the riff have an extra twinge, an extra twist to them? It feels unclean, whereas this cover (you can noticably hear it) just plays the note cleanly Take the time to listen to the instrumental of both songs, and you'll get what I mean The original is just ever so slightly unclean, and it only makes it so much better
@@minecraftsteve2504 it’s just cause the actual song is mixed into the album, and this is guitar heavy over the top of the mix of the song. But I get it mix does make a song sound different.
Which plugin do You use for pitch shifting? Or are you pitching DI tracks and then running them through Neural DSP? Asking 'cause my guitar's sound clarity for recording below Drop F# gets noticeably worse and it's more fine-tuning and re-recording than having fun :(
@@imhandumdrehen I don't have a pitch pedal and I use the vst for this. My guitar is tuned in drop A. I lowered the guitar tune by 6 semitones in the plug-in and recorded the material in this way. I hope I answered your question :)

Awesome work! I know you said Drop D# but for whatever reason when I'm in that tuning and play that same frets for some stuff it doesn't sound like what you have on the video. Are you just in regular Drop D#? Or what do you have each string tuned to?
Thanks all for the comments. I'm using a 7 string in Drop G# then pitch shifted down 5 semitones to get to drop d#. I likely just missed something, guess I'll have to watch the playback alittle slower 🙂
That intro riff sealed the deal for my favorite off the album.
Strong Vildhjarta influence imo. Incredible song writing by IA. I am in awe. Love your guitar cover!

Most metalcore bands take influence from Vildhjarta now just as in 2010s deathcore and metalcore bands took influence from Meshuggah
