Ever since I heard him on his fantastic first release of "Voices Rising" he has been among my most favorite jazz guitarists with his unique command and very versatile playing style. It is wonderful to see he is still doing his thing. I wish him much success, long life, and happiness.
@@jazzguitartoday brought back some music memories. I have been trying to learn some Raphael Rabello tunes. Surely Fared is knowledgeable about him. I love bop and modern jazz but there is something that Brazilian music tradition brings to the guitar is mesmerizing. Different approaches all good. Peace one day, then 1 week….etc…..
In the early '80's Fareed was "THE Man" around the Chicago Classical Guitar Society and other "Serious Music" organizations. I was fabulously "insulted" by the "purists" for playing the Joe Pass transcriptions, etc. So many of us over the years were so grateful Fareed gravitated to jazz and other popular music. He really "paved the way" for people to think differently and better. Fareed.....we are so glad to hear that you are doing well. Keep it up. :) Antoine
I recall Fareed playing at a local venue here where I live and his group was great ! And if I'm right Alphonso Johnson played in his band also ! Great interview .This post is greatly appreciated keep you the great work !!!!
Omg, Fareed!!! It was great meeting you at the Archtop Festival and just horrible to hear that you've been through the wringer with the P.C. words. AMAZING! Well done beating it brother! All the very best from Erie, Colorado and until we meet again, Daniel 🤙🏻
Heard Fareed and Goran at a club in Madison WI a while ago. They played classical guitars but I wasn't sure how to categorize the musical style, except that it was incredible! Best concert I've heard so far this year--incredible musical connection!
First I had heard of Fareed was years ago in an interview with Charlie Hunter. He referenced the Deja Vu album. Sounded interesting so I bought it. Its still on my regular play list after 27 years. This interview came up on a notification and Im thankful to catch up. I have hours of listening ahead. So pleased to hear you are doing well!
“Play a Funky Wurlitzer …” 🤗 … hahaha 😄🤗 Also being a pianist , as well as guitarist (piano was my 1st instrument … then self taught guitarist ..) this part of the interview really got my smiling 🙂 To think the they were throwing away Wurlitzers ….. now a days their prices have gone way sky high I’ve got a ‘vintage’ 88 keys Fender Rhodes stage …. and an old Kawai electric-acoustic grand … .. but I wish I knew FAREED back then …. I would wife loved to have a nice Wurlitzer as well 🤗 They’re much lighter than a Rhodes …. Items nice to have a ‘real’ ?none electronic &/or synth piano 🎹) to carry around …
TYVM for this one. I"ve been across from NIU for years, so have had the pleasure of seeing him play nearby - great player. I am glad to hear you are on the "mend" Dr. Haque, ty so much for what you do. Our jamband used to cover one of Garage Mahal's tunes - it got 'em on the dance floor at Otto's, tyvm sir! HF all.

Sacred Addition was great. Fared ending with a virtuoso piece of contemporary nylon string pieces was always exceptional. Peace. Colibri.

Wise words about how the time spent on perfection is kinda wasted if the emotional side don't sing there's nothing!
