Ulzzang is basically someone who's good-looking and famous online, not particularly an idol. So basically it means that Karina is a famous pretty girl before being an idol :)
Thx for the reaction. Perhaps you know some information, so I’ll write just for reference. About last songs. The song "Supernova" is related to the song "Armageddon". "Supernova" is the band's pre-release single. One of the track's producers - Dem Jointz (worked with Rihanna, Anderson .Paak, Janet Jackson, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Brandy, Christina Aguilera and many others). The part "Ah Oh Ay" uses a sample from the hip-hop track "Planet Rock" (single "Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force") (1982). The symbols on the floor are graphically stylized symbols of the members of aespa, which they have had since their debut and are found in many of their videos: Karina: Heart Winter: Star Giselle: Crescent Ningning: Butterfly Also in the “Supernova” video, the participants wear contact lenses with their symbols (or for example, in the video "Armageddon" NingNing right eye with a butterfly symbol). About last song 'Whiplash'. In a boring explanation Whiplash is a neck injury that happens when you move your neck too quickly in a whip like fashion. They are saying they are so "hot" they will give you whiplash because you will do a double take fast af. Very common slang for saying something made you do a double take. The group's name, aespa, combines the English initials of "avatar" and "experience" (Avatar X Experience) with the English word "aspect", meaning "two sides", to symbolize the idea of "meeting another self and experiencing the new world". aespa has a storyline related to their music videos so you should start with their debut song, in order: _(Story Line)_ - Black Mamba (Debut MV) - Next Level (MV) - Savage (MV) - Girls (MV) - Welcome To MY World (MV) (pre-release single) - Spicy (MV) - Drama (MV) - Supernova (MV) (pre-release single) - Armageddon (MV) - Whiplash (MV) _(Out of history) (MV)_ - Forever (The song is a remake) - Dreams Come True (The song is a remake) - Life’s To Short (English ver.) - Better Things (English single) - Jingle Bell Rock - Regret of the Times (The song is a remake) - Jacob Collier - Over You (feat. Just Another Girl To understand the concept of aespa you need to watch 3 mini-movies with English subtitles (SMCU Season 1): - aespa ep.1 ‘Black Mamba' - SM Culture Universe (Duration: 10 minutes): ruclips.net/video/vbH4Lk5wYWg/видео.html - aespa ep.2 ‘Next Level’ - SM Culture Universe (Duration: 17 minutes): ruclips.net/video/i8fRCkq5tbw/видео.html - aespa ep.3 Girls (Don’t you know I’m a Savage?) - SM Culture Universe (Duration: 17 minutes): ruclips.net/video/iq-ivLY_9A8/видео.html The second season of SMCU opens with the songs "Supernova" and "Armageddon". In its first week (May 27 - June 3), the album "Armageddon" sold 1,154,742 physical copies. For comparison, Eminem's latest album "Death of Slim Shady" sold 281,000 copies in its first week. The pre-release track "Supernova" held the first place on four major Korean charts (MelOn, Bugs, Genie, VIBE + RUclips Music) for the first four weeks. And on the main chart "MelOn", the track "Supernova" held the first place for the fifteenth week in a row + periodically the track took the first place on all FOUR music charts. P.P.S In the aespa LORE there is a virtual character "naevis", who in the 1st season of their mini-series materializes in the real world as part of the plot. This is a completely AI-generated character (appearance, voice). Thanks for diving more into Aespa, as my ult group I'll always be seated for more Aespa reactions 😌 I agree with what you said about liking their more recent discography more compared to first 2 years, whilst I love those songs I think they've really matured their style/sound/identity into something greater. I enjoy their lore too and I 100% recommend reacting to their 3 SMCU episodes which does a great job of covering their story from the songs Black Mamba right up to Welcome to my world (if you do react to them, always wait for after credits scenes too). But yeah, as an editor yourself I think you'll enjoy the choices they made with how they shot scenes, edited it and the experimental mixed media approach they take. That being said, I think them moving further away from the AE concept in recent years and their style/sound evolving is connected. They debuted right at the beginning of covid (other 4th gen groups either debuted way before it or waited till the pandemic was over for their debut) which made it a very tough launch period for Aespa, since they couldn't perform live infront of live audiences for quite a while. The AE concept 100% would have been SM's solution to having a group debut with a virtual concept incase the pandemic was a long term thing (which thankfully, we weren't stuck in the pandemic for too long) and with the pandemic over, they can branch away a bit from the AE's now (but reference them occasionally in promotions without putting them in MVs or interviews). Ullzang is basically a korean social media influencer on apps like instagram who gain massive followings for being pretty, so Karina had a big following in Korea before she even became a trainee for just posting selfies. She was even scouted/approached by SM from this through DMs asking if she wanted to be an idol at SM and by this point she was already doing small brand deals/collabs as an ullzang. It makes sense Ning Ning had the most, despite being the Maknae, she has the most experience as a singer out of all 4 of them due to her long history of singing and performing in contests/talent shows and doing projects with SM since she was 14. They have a reality show called Synk Road (its like 10-12 eps long) and its one of the best ways to just see what they are like outside of their on stage persona, I guarentee you'll fall in love with them as a group after watching that XD They also did a Aesparty series on youtube last year which was really fun too but I'd treat that as a sequel to Synk road in terms of what order to watch it. Korean words and names are very syllable focused, so its gets easier to read names once you keep that in mind, they don't really stretch letters like we do in english. I've been learning korean this year and the alphabet/reading words is surprisingly easy to get the hang of, although learning the meanings of words is ofcourse way more difficult, but I'm able to read korean letters now after like 5-6 hours worth of learning aswell as understanding basic words/phrases. Its been quite fun. If you ever want any recommendations for Aespa stuff to react to, please feel free to reach out to me for any advice on it, I'd be happy to help with checking stuff before hand or finding links to specific stuff (my twitter link is in my channel bio if you need to ever DM or something).
Please don't forget to react to the latest song from Jennie ft. Dominic Fike "LOVE HANGOVER" MV is very funny, full of Jennie's humor, the song is also very good and interesting😍 I'm looking forward to your reaction video!! Thank you, have a nice day❤
Somewhat upset they didn't mention the SM PALACE album. There are such good songs in it. I follow SM groups the most and that album was I am sorry, much better than the SM STATION one. Even tho I love ZOO with my while heart. Also they had an OST for a Netflix Show called Die Trying on the 4th of April. Actually Giselle has the Japanese passport and also going to mention their HYPERLINE solos. I really liked Karina's solo Menagerie. I like the others, a fan favorite is NingNing's Wake Up. I was honestly surprised SM actually released the Parallel Line Solos but most likely because of how viral it went. Bcs most solos members perform on concerts tend to be not released. If them later if they have a solo debut. An example being Butterfly from Yuta. Which was released with his debut album Depth. It is sooo good. Back to æspa in my opinion I like the earlier stuff more. Especiallx because there is no continued storyline anymore. Their songs became more generic(for kpop). But I am glad Armageddon was released tho. My favorite still is Girls and Savage. Don't get me wrong I like the new ones, but as a MY since 2020. I followed them because of the interesting story line. It is easier to become popular without a story line tho. So I understand, why SM chose that route. The romanized versions of korean are mostly leaned onto english pronounciation, so is Japanese, while Chinese is more complicated to pronounce. I recommend searching on RUclips for their pronounciation. There is short videos of it. Because alot of sounds are complicated to explain, because english doesn't have those sounds. Having Yizhuo as an example. The zh sound is similair to sh and ch...idk how to explain it T-T Try to say z the sound you add to s when you say sh. The reference sound I have is ž or zs for the polish/hungarian way to write it.
Please react to ITZY more, you said you'd react more since you're not too familiar with them, they have some really good songs plus they're incredible dancers, so u should react to their most iconic dance practices
Ulzzang is basically someone who's good-looking and famous online, not particularly an idol.

Wow. Time passed by so quickly. Used to hear that term a lot back in the days, used to even follow famous ulzzang “influencer”
