Hi Danni and Joe. Best looking clouds we've seen in ages, and more terrific work and progress on the boat. We love to follow the info and advice you share as you get all the jobs done, and envy your energy ! Looking forward to more as usual. Cheers. George and Trish.
Try using a ‘centre drill’ for starting holes - they are short and stubby so don’t tend to flex, and invest in a good brand of drills. Been an engineer all my working life and have found Draper to be among the best. All looking good, love the clouds.
Ahh thank you! Need to add one to the tool kit. I used to use Reisser drill bits but the more I use ant others off the shelf I realise they’re nothing special. Will give Draper a go next time I re fill the toolbox
Danni and Joe great job as usual.Just a little piece of advice on your car rental there are some companies not all, that in a attempt to line there pockets has a rule that you have to have the receipt to your last top off before returning the car.Forget that all you have to do is turn the key and clearly see its full oh no if you dont have that receipt theres like a 20.00$ surcharge.Just be aware of this little scam and keep that time and date stamped receipt.
This is my first time watching your channel. It's fascinating to watch someone as young as yourself doing such good work on so many different jobs, especially electrical things. As to the car rental here in the US, the main hidden cost is insurance. I don't know if you can get an affidavit from your own insurance there saying that they will cover rental insurance here or not, but if so, do. Whether the rental agency here will accept it may be a problem. In the past I've found the insurance to cost more than the rental. Good luck and stay safe and well.
Thanks for joining us! Will check on the insurance thank you, from what I’ve researched so far though is because we book through UK sites they’re normally including the insurance required. Will do some double checking though!
Hi Danni, Joe, Wow, every week you do so much more to your boat. Love the clouds. Well done with your Solar Panels. I see you used your pink screwdriver with your pink cupboards again. Nice colour co-ordination. Joe you are amazing with everything you touch, this week, more with the electrics. And you both have the time to tell us what you are doing. Another great Vlog. Have a great week. Take care.
Hi guys. Love your videos. My wife and I are doing the American version of narrowboating and are living in our RV. Currently we are working in Grand Canyon National Park. Enjoy your trip across the US. Stop at Grand Canyon if you can it’s a must see.
Well done, getting there you two. What a summer you will have on the boat. Drilling in iron, invest in good drillbits. And cool it while drilling. Most simpel is a bit off oil with water mixed. Learned that the hard way, after throwing away many many drillbits.
Good luck on your trip and I think they saying is Hertz Rent-A-Car the only thing that hertz is the bill at the end of your hire so be careful ,nice volg and maybe the clouds would’ve blown away with the time you come back 👍👍😂😂😂😂
@@ItsOhJoe yes I know what they were like,as I did work for a company called kenning car and van rental, ( now called Sixt ) keeping my fingers crossed for you both have fun 🤩 👍ps take a video of any damage to the car inside and out no matter how miner
You make a lot of these jobs look easy yet informative. Thank you. Are you going to film and post your trip to America? Certainly hope so as you are very entertaining.
Hi Danny Joe,just love the clouds looks great ,it’s a bloody shame you have to secure your solar panels with locks but that’s the wold we live in ,did you do all the electrical work yourself if so well done so much to think about with solar, battery’s ,charging , you are a very clever young man if you don’t mind me saying,I bet you are both looking forward to your trip to the USA 🇺🇸,you sure can see the difference from one week to the other well done 👍 just one thing why was there not a light on the solar box when you switched it on ,till next time take care keep yourself safe, John 🌹👀🇺🇸🙏👍😂🤩👫😃😍🐣🐥
Hi Joe missed Danni. You both are working very hard. It will be worth it when you are relaxing on your travels. Car rentals have been outrageous, for that matter prices on everything are out of control. Sorry I don't mean to be a downer. Have fun.
Is that Angle Iron/steel or Aluminium? If it is Aluminium I would keep a close eye on it due to galvanic corrosion. It will save the boats steel but the aluminium will basically turn to powder over time. It is how the sacrificial anodes under the water work.
I need to learn more about galvanic corrosion as didn’t know it could effect things not in the charging system! It is aluminium so may swap out for steel, is that why the aluminium solar brackets will also need isolating with grommets?
@@ItsOhJoe yup. It will probably be fine to leave it as it is for now, it isn't a fast process when electrolysis isn't in the question. It will probably be fine for a few years, but it is definitely something that you need to keep an eye on.
I can't help wondering why you left an overhang at both sides of the boat with the angle bar (or whatever that is called) Why didn't you put one edge at the edge of the boat and then cut one end off? I am totally confused but I bet there is a very good sensible reason ☺️
So both ends need cutting at a funny angle to follow the line of the boat, I wanted to leave a piece either end that I could get my hand on to steady it whilst I use the grinder but wasn’t sure when I’d next bring it over so also didn’t want to leave one side too long incase we moored somewhere else before cutting it
Have you connected the charge controller to the boat side or battery side of the maIn battery isolator? All charging circuits should be on the battery side through their own fuse. The reason being that if connected wrong, when you turn your battery isolator off the charge controller will still be feeding your 12v circuits. I'm sure you have done it correctly but difficult to tell from the video.
The swans aren't fighting, they are getting amorous, its that time of year for swans to get together. Why leave an overhang on both ends, you could have done from one side and had a more useful longer off cut.
Ahh didn’t think about breeding! Kinky. So both ends need cutting at a funny angle to follow the line of the boat, I wanted to leave a piece either end that I could get my hand on to steady it whilst I use the grinder but wasn’t sure when I’d next bring it over so also didn’t want to leave one side too long incase we moored somewhere else before cutting it
Love how it's coming along... But, I hate to tell you, it's bad news using aluminum on a steel boat like you did on the bow. The dissimilar metals will cause the steel around that area to really start to rust FAST... Just look at old cars with aluminum wheel, and door trims.... it acts just like how a would battery works, and the steel is the loser... Big up with the stream you two ! ... I enjoy your postings...
Need to do more research on galvanic corrosion as keep using aluminium! 😫 I thought it only affected the charging system, we’ve got a galvanic isolator but guessing that won’t fix the problem 😂
your bit speed is too slow when coming out at bottom , might be a slight offset piece of material underneath and you pressing too hard. cool bit aswell.

Draper? Thnx for the tip.
Nice one Joe. Solar charging looks interesting.
Thank you!
Great Vlog Joe. I like the clouds. Cratch cover will be great!
Thank you!
Things are starting to come together....well done Joe!
Thanks Catherine!
Have a great trip to the USA but please be cautious in Chicago ... very unsafe and a huge increase in car-jacking!
We’re fairly cautious travellers but will try to keep our wits about us whilst driving for car jacking, thank you!

Nice solar setup but what's with the great looking model boat in the workshop
That’s my Dad’s (he didn’t build it!) it’s up for sale will be on eBay soon
Use pins about half inch diameter and about 3 inches long and Sika flex it down
Good call
Of all the work you do I find the electrics by far the most daunting. My DIY skills doesn’t stretch that far.
Would really recommend explorist life on RUclips, his step by step tutorials are great at breaking it down into manageable sections!
That swan looks like was ready to pick up a fight with you😅😅😅
Was not happy at all 😂

As far as I can remember (less than one episode ago..) NONE of your original ideas has been the final result. Lovely!

@@ItsOhJoe that makes perfect sense. I knew there would be a reason. Have a good week.
Are you going to vlog your trip?
Yes we will be 🙂
I would’ve used a curved piece of hardwood to fit on the main roof so that the timber sits In between that
Yes have seen that done, could possibly update it in the future
cool vid on the channel thanks lee
Thank you!
She's looking fantastic.... 👌
The hatch cover is high will it clear tunnels and low bridges?
It’s not much higher than the mushroom vents really, if we aim for bridges or tunnels that low re really will be in trouble!

To me it appears a certain person is a little bit camera shy in the conversion videos?
Danni’s been working away for the past 3 months or so, it’s been a massive help with saving but does mean she’s away 4 nights of the week
