Yes! When I left my apartment I was required to have my carpets cleaned. Then when I moved into my house, I called the same company. Easy way to get and keep clients.
This is what I was about to comment. That's who is getting carpet cleaning done. Perhaps also drop some cards with local cleaning services for them to pass on to their customers (or run a special where you get a carpet clean when a deep clean in purchased).
He should advertise at pet stores, drop off cards or something. I used to work at 2 different pet stores and I can’t even tell you how many people came in looking for recommendations for carpet cleaners, simply just to help remove pet dander, dirt, gunk, etc. I feel like that could be a profitable demographic to look into

When I was completely under water I was so defeated- I seriously couldn’t sort out all the debt and collections and settlements etc… it took me MONTHS with a very patient friend who loved me enough to push me uphill until I got a grip. I’m good now though, but without all the constant teaching and being held accountable by him I would probably still be clueless.

This one, and others in the past have hinted their partner pressured them into attending. So I don't think they're going on as actual fans of the show, but just trying to humor their partner's request, and completely misjudging what they signed themselves up for. There were a few moments where this guy mentioned that his partner wanted him to get his shit together. And she probably just set everything up, and this dude bullshitted his way through pretending he paid attention to the show. He probably watched a few, skipped around a bit. Arrogantly didn't think money issues were something that would happen to him. Just something that happens to "other" people, and totally got blindsided. And again, lied about it at every turn. ------------ On a related note. I keep trying to get some of my financially irresponsible friends to watch this show, and they don't, because math is boring. And one of them even straight out lied to me saying she watched a whole show, but couldn't answer any questions when I asked her what they actually talked about. "oh they just talked about money and making budgets!" Gotta give me more than that, lol. Honestly, it's the pure arrogance that bothers me so much. People just think they're so much better than they are, and take no accountability.
@@MasterslessonsWhat is the point of any show? To provide entertainment, information, or both. Telling someone over the phone doesn’t make for a good show. Of course drama is part of it.
@@Masterslessons I disagree with you. RUclips as a platform is used mostly by a younger audience and this show tries to teach people the dangers of debt, bad habits and not making a budget/sticking to it. The show does have a drama aspect to it but that is the entertainment that brings in the audience and keeps them interested. No one is forced to come on the show it’s their choice. Some want their 15 minutes of fame and some want help. This show helped me and some of my friends/family members to make a budget. So I believe this show has an overall positive effect on the community.
I feel like this guy needs to get in touch with a realtor. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like people who are selling their homes always want to get their carpets done. So if he partnered with a realtor that might be super steady income?
For any future guests on this program, when Caleb asks for any final thoughts at the end, say something like "thank you for your time and all the advice." Common courtesy.
I’m sure that happens off screen, Caleb sounds like he does a debrief with his guests right after. That last question is meant to give them the last word in the financial audit.
Honestly Caleb. Your videos have been a LIFESAVER. I have been binging them for the last month. These videos really lit a fire under me. Since watching your videos I have taken accountability for getting myself in bad debt, paid off 5 of 11 credit cards, cut out the BS spending, created and stuck to a budget! Seeing you go through people finances with similar situations as mine has really opened my eyes to how financially illiterate I was. Keep doing what you are doing man. You are changing lives.
He needs to hand out printed Thank You postcards at every job he does that says "20% off your next carpet clean this year". REPEAT customers are the name of the game and word of mouth referrals, social media is great but social proof comes by personal recommendations. Fire the social media person.
Yeah, it's not getting a return. You'd be better off doing craigslist ads for nothing. Prospecting at pet shops, apartment owners, real estate offices should get you good, steady business.
I agree 200 percent word of mouth either makes you or breaks you spend a little to print flyers with the coupon for next cleaning and maybe a little more for referrals of new customers who actually use your service he should be stopping at apartment complexes and office buildings to offer his services as a on call service contract type he should also be in to cleaning hard floors as well more people have tile and vinyl laminate floors then carpet these days also offering throw rug cleaning would do well

Correctly interpreting the problem or situation is step 0 before you even do anything so it's no surprise his business is in the mud the way he thinks. Plus, he seems lazy and not getting things done like not calling his accountant when his taxes aren't getting filed or just sitting at home when he's not making money.
As far as knocking doors goes, he ought to show up a couple of hours early to a cleaning if possible and knock the houses immediately surrounding the area and offer a “neighborhood rate” because he’s already in the area and saves on travel if he can clean right before or right after the service. I did door-to-door sales for pest and the bandwagon impact is huge.
The way the world is going today I don’t answer to strangers for a service. There is no soliciting in my neighborhood. I would just mail out flyers with a discount code for first service.

I have worked in Auto insurance for over 20 years and when I saw his response on no insurance and him thinking before saying "no" plus the HARD CUT in the editing there was definitely a conversation but that was one that really more people need to know and understand. The kinds of nightmares people can ruin their life with by not getting insurance or worse lying about insurance policies can make this audit situation 100x worse.
I agree, but guests can request parts of the show cut for privacy reasons. I guess their situation is bad enough that they requested to cut the segment because it could get them into legal trouble. Which I feel they're headed towards with some of the red flags anyways.

Its so sad to hear Caleb say in a happy voice that he could get to a 1 month emergency fund in 6 months. this situation is so dire and the way the American credit system works that allows people to take out so much debt to their income is wild. There ya go, there’s your episode. There’s not much to ask or go over financial wise that would be interesting enough for an full episode I don’t think..
True. But they pick people based on the likelihood they can provide advice/help to get them out of bad debt. So even if people who are in good financial standing ask to be on, it’s less likely they would be helping as much, when they could be providing someone who needs the help with a budget and plan. I really appreciate the ones where he lays out month but month what debts will be fixed
Andy is an emotionally driven person and cannot be saved by Caleb's financial strategy, given his display of not wanting to sell his individual stocks. He does not know he's near rock bottom (financially); which I agree with Caleb's assess - the speed in which Andy has gotten there is heart attack noteworthy. In my opinion, Andy needs to refocus his time, attention, and energy around the highest paying income stream (Amazon delivery). His passion in his business needs to be his side business. Get a strict 5-day work schedule from Amazon, then the other two days - schedule work there. Andy "said" he's getting 10 jobs - 15 jobs a month from carpet cleaning, and he can easily do 2 - 3 jobs in a single day. This is the work plan. The food delivery = work nights only; limit himself to 4 nights.

When you hear that 70% of businesses fail within the first 5 years, its guys like this, the car washing guy, the gym owner, etc. If you have a good product that people want, and are on top of finances, and not spending ridiculously, then youll be alright
We’ll also taking the wrong look at marketing aswell should be investing in business cards and referral deals for costumers especially if he gets into a high end neighborhood offer referral deals like 50% off next cleaning if you refer 2 new clients he just has to get his foot in the door into any field that could use his services internet you get a generalized market once you get big enough it helps but starting out locally and person to person marketing can’t beat it early on
100%, I started a service based business this year and its going great. Profitable, at one point had so much demand I had to end/pause my ads because I didn’t have time nor the employees at the time to fulfill those clients needs. All this by spending literally less than $500. Using three forms of marketing (one being free). Like you said most businesses fail because those people aren’t “business” oriented or they start businesses with high failure rates (restaurants/bars).

Caleb you need to start getting some knowledge in gas, mileage, and overall costs of a vehicle. The reason why I say this is because as soon as I heard 2008 tundra, I thought that’s a terrible truck to be operating out of. Truth be told it would be better if he got in a Nissan frontier 2008. It would have costed him less, and the gas mileage would be better than a tundra over a couple years. Just my two cents. Oh and also I’m pretty sure frontiers cost less insurance wise.
I watch all these episodes where the guest has NO MONEY tons of debt and a huge lack of direction and they all have partners/boyfriends/girlfriends. I could not date a man who didn’t know how basic finances work
Same. I would never date a woman who can’t/doesn’t budget. I’ll add that if she doesn’t care about her own health, mental and physical, hard pass. I believe his carpet cleaning business slowed down because most homeowners/property management companies for renters are upgrading to vinyl, hardwood and laminate floors due to its low maintenance. With the rising cost of rent, even apartments have eliminated carpet all together.

I love how the guests will just go into vague anecdotes when Caleb is asking if their business is actually profitable or not.

How is it possible that you keep finding people who know that they're going to be a guest on "Financial Audit" and they're so completely unprepared to answer questions about themselves and their finances. Do they think it's a gameshow or something?
When I was completely under water I was so defeated- I seriously couldn’t sort out all the debt and collections and settlements etc… it took me MONTHS with a very patient friend who loved me enough to push me uphill until I got a grip.
I’m good now though, but without all the constant teaching and being held accountable by him I would probably still be clueless.
@@januaryriches3991, thanks for your response. I really appreciate your honesty and for sharing your experience. Congratulations on taking the initiative to seek help and getting out from under your financial burden, glad you're doing better now. Be thankful that you have good friends in your life! Although I understand how overwhelming it must be, it is still strange to me that people know they're coming on a show like this and arrive completely unprepared.
------------
On a related note. I keep trying to get some of my financially irresponsible friends to watch this show, and they don't, because math is boring. And one of them even straight out lied to me saying she watched a whole show, but couldn't answer any questions when I asked her what they actually talked about. "oh they just talked about money and making budgets!"
Gotta give me more than that, lol.
Honestly, it's the pure arrogance that bothers me so much. People just think they're so much better than they are, and take no accountability.

There ya go, there’s your episode. There’s not much to ask or go over financial wise that would be interesting enough for an full episode I don’t think..
True. But they pick people based on the likelihood they can provide advice/help to get them out of bad debt.

@@Masterslessons why exactly are you here? You don’t know what I’m aware of or how I’ve spent the last few weeks or what world events I’m aware of so why are you coming to a random comment on a RUclips video to try and attempt to call me out?
@@Masterslessons and oddly enough you responded to multiple people talking about the video, so why are you coming after me?
@@Masterslessons such a bad troll lmao
@@Andrea-xs4ny I appreciate your reply, I know they’re just a troll but I had to respond because they’re partaking in this so called “echo chamber” and apparently that means they don’t care they’re just trying to make themselves out to be better or more enlightened. So odd.
Marketing agency owner here: $300/month to manage ads you are getting probably bottom of the barrel people to run your ads hence lack of results. Engagement on ads is NOT a metric your marketer should be leveraging as "success" if you are trying to generate leads. If he's not actually tracking leads generated then yeet him and figure out how to set those up yourself if you are that cash strapped and then save up to actually go ahead and use a better marketer or agency as they aren't cheap.
This dude is a nightmare financially, doesn’t separate business finances, no insurance on a Turo car, and his tax situation, holy hell.
I understand some of us are here for the guests and see oh who next. I honestly love Caleb reactions and the pov change are honestly comedy. Love You Caleb. Thanks for the laughs and great wisdom
Good to hear Caleb persist with “tough” business questions. New business owners should be ready with their numbers.
It’s always shocking that these guests come on and never know how much money they’re making 😳
Not just that he didn’t even understand the question!!!😂
Especially when they are a business owner lol
@@potatoesandgravy7021and especially if they come in for financial advice...
Why not prepare for the obvious questions and bring the necessary info?
Right?! It’s frustrating that they watch the show and come in completely unprepared
"I budget" (X) Doubt
How can you say you budget and not even know what your take home is... Let alone not knowing what take home even means...
Lack of discipline is the most common reason why Caleb’s guests don’t have stable finances. I’ve seen it in my own life and watching these videos has helped me crack down on the bs spending.
Creating a game plan is easy, sticking to it takes discipline more so on the hard days when you don’t want to do what you have to do to have a stable financial future.
US citizens are known to be direct. That's all Caleb is-not mean nor impatient, just direct. And as he aptly said, it's taken him nearly 30 minutes to obtain an answer which usually takes just 5 minutes with other guests. I was laughing at the expressions.
I could not date a man who didn’t know how basic finances work
🎯🎯🎯
This!!
Ones trash is another’s treasure
Same. I would never date a woman who can’t/doesn’t budget. I’ll add that if she doesn’t care about her own health, mental and physical, hard pass. At 28, I have a mortgage, that’s all the debt I’ve ever had. Over $100,000 in stocks combined. Only $7k in “oh crap I need cash this second” money. Straight white teeth, and healthy body weight for my height. (130lbs 5’8)
Now my focus can be on developing a better personality!!
Same. But I'm single af. Lot's of people are walking disasters.
I believe his carpet cleaning business slowed down because most homeowners/property management companies for renters are upgrading to vinyl, hardwood and laminate floors due to its low maintenance. With the rising cost of rent, even apartments have eliminated carpet all together.
So true! No carpets in my rentals. Never again.
I thought exactly the same thing! The new houses definitely have gone this way, remodels too.😊
That did not occur to me but you are absolutely right!
Makes sense. Maybe partly driven by Covid - people feeling hard floors are more sanitary than carpet?
Excellent point!
This is the video I needed at the start of the sephora sale to empty my cart and say NO BS SPENDING.
After working for 12 hours I always like to check out Caleb Hammer. This is by far one of the episodes! The video editing is awesome and this needs to happen more often especially at 31 min into the video. That whole section is perfect lol.
Caleb, you were wording it just fine trying to figure out his income. You worded it a couple different ways that were just fine.
the last justification for upgrading his rent being that he spent $100 in storage so he could afford the $300 upgrade was wild 🤯
That timing to say to please subscribe is absolutely genius. I don’t even know how you can shift your mind to your OWN business for 2 seconds and go right back into it. “Subscribe to make me feel better” when you were at your peak. Genius man…
He thinks he's a credit card person because he's transferring balances. LOLOLOL
“I applied for a credit card and that makes me a credit card person”
Your doing a good job this guy is just trying to avoid answering he is clearly in a financial mess keep up the good work Caleb your doing awesome
