Honestly taking a loan against her (significant) home equity position sounds pretty good for her. Pay off all the credit cards with much lower interest debt, close all that stuff, and then she just has payments on student loans and what is essentially a larger mortgage.
@@nineteenfortyeight I don't think so. It sounded very Southern. It's been explained to me that, especially in the South, they use a lot of 'polite placeholders'. I just have to say THANK YOU for having guests in their 40s lately. At 41, it took me a little over a year to wake up and wipe away my debt, change my habits, jettison my retirement to a good level, and start investing, etc so it is possible at any age!!!
Hey! Gambling addict in recovery here! This guest is ABSOLUTELY a gambling addict. The money juggling, the "budgeting" for the casino, the not wanting to spend gambling money on things, very clear she needs to get to a group and some counseling. I hope she can get on the path to recovery 💜
Incase she is reading this; your mother had addiction issues, you tried to help her with money and it ended up destroying your relationship. You are in horrible debt due to your gambling addiction. If you continue on this path you WILL repeat history. If you love your daughter you have to break this cycle. There is a future where your daughter never speaks to you ever again. To make sure this doesn’t happen you need to take action today.
Her saying she knows addiction runs in her family and says she KNOWS she doesnt have an addiction and has "checked it" is 100% addict mindset and behavior, shes gonna need help
This is how people in the south talk. I live in Virginia. Any diner or greasy spoon restaurant w a waitress over 30 years old you’ve got a 86% chance of being called that. It’s just how women talk around here
She has gorgeous hair!!! And she’s really pretty.. I’m surprised with the amount she smokes, that it doesn’t seem to have really done much to her skin/hair etc?? I’ve seen some smokers who smoke as much as her and don’t have good skin and hair. But she’s so pretty! She’s lucky
@@CynthiaBrooke96Maybe she only smokes a lot sometimes. Like quits for years then when she gets depressed starts smoking a lot so it affects her less since she might do it less throughout her whole life lol idk
Rule to live by any amount money is a lot and to much loose Im spent a thousand on girls over last five years it was waste and even though stay put debt and was over years that still alot money 💵 to waste 😮
Exactly why people like her are in insane debt. They're dumb enough to give a casino all their money, why wouldn't they take out as much as they could to gamble it? Gamblers are known to have some of the WORST DEBT EVER (combination of gambling, personal, and bills) so not surprised at all.
Hi, Caleb! As a career bartender I’d love to see you advise/ audit someone who works with a tip based income. It’s very challenging to budget or plan with this type of pay. As someone who has made it work for two decades I know it’s possible… buts it’s challenging. AND most of us are extroverts and would be fun on camera! Just something to think about. 🖤
This 100%! I don't work in a tips based industry exactly but as someone who is growing as a content creator I'd also love tips on how to handle that fluctuating income.
Same ide with commission jobs, which I've worked. I'm guessing commission is more volatile than tips but I guess that could depend. So, if I know I'm gonna make 40-80k, I need to be budgeting like I make 40k.
It’s awesome that you made it work, but for those out there who work on tips or commissions, you need to figure out what your average income is for a month, and especially a low months. You need to budget like you’re ALWAYS going to have a slow or low month. ALWAYS. It’s much easier to update up the budget for unexpected income than budget high and have to slash expenses due to lack of income.
I guess you could do an inverse budget instead of taking the weakly salary and substract the bills you take your minimun monthly expenses(include minimun CC payments) add it all together and then throw all your salary and tips until you pay it and whatever is left divide it into savings and the snowball method once you have 3 month of savings throw all to the remains to pay the debts and then once that is done, divide again into retirement funds and fun. If it took you years to pay all you CC debts and you have not gotten a raise in all that time consider getting another job. Just a suggestion
She’s in deep denial about her gambling addiction. Not replacing or repairing your central air so that you don’t have to give up your gambling money, is classic addiction behavior. It sadly reminds me of my grandma that died with hundreds of thousands in gambling debt.
It's all relative. If you have $20k in debt and make minimum wage, and you want to get $5 in taquitos, you wouldn't think twice about it because, "hey, it's only $5, it isn't that much"
My aunt has a gambling addiction as well she has lost things and had to start over again thankfully she has learned from it and hasn't been gambling for a few yrs now . One thing I have learned about addiction is u can't push a person into seeking help they have to want it on their own and sadly some times that doesn't happen at all .
Definitely one of the most likable guests and enjoyable episodes! The debt is insane and the smoking and gambling are concerning but at least she wasn’t defensive and argumentative like the majority of the people on here. I hope she turns things around and succeeds!! I’m rooting for her!
Yeah I can understand and why you'd want to make memories in that case, she's so sweet.hopefully she gets help for gambling and gets debt free soon @@churrosquirrel
It sounds like she lacks patience. She heard rich people save, so she saves, but that takes too long, so she goes to the casino to turn $1000 into $1million, not thinking about the fact that casinos stay in business because they're NOT pumping out millions of dollars.
I hope she reads this - You know how you had no choice but to stop talking to your mom because of her addition? Your daughter will have to make that choice in the future if you don't stop.
I actually think she may succeed - not because she wants to, but because her husband just learned about it and sounds pissed that he may be responsible for $200k.
And her kids are watching it. They should stop asking mommy for handouts, but also encourage her to stay the coarse while she works to claw her way out of this huge hole.
If he doesn't quit giving her money, he needs to sit eith her and pay a bill or two for her monthly directly from the money he was going to give her. Also, if he isn't on the house, she should add him as a good faith for all the money has given her and will perhaps take on.
I'm only 5 minutes in, but her entering financial audit saying she's heading to the casino right after is crazy and gives me doubts Maybe she does a complete 180 later on lol
Manray: Aren't you a gambler? Patrick: Yup. Manray: And these financial records say you lose $1k-$2k a month gambling. You also have debt. Patrick: Yup. Manray: So if you use your gambling money to pay off your debt, you'll be debt free. Patrick: That makes sense to me. Manray: Then use your gambling money to pay off your debt. Patrick: mmm mmm but I have a budget.
One of my family members quit smoking 17 years ago. She took the money she was spending on cigarettes a month and put it in a savings account instead. Kept track, when the price of cigarettes went up she put more money in. Has saved $61,000 in 17 years. That became her home renovation/new TV/vacation fund.
There's a joke us smokers like to tell each other that goes like this: A non smoker asks a smoker "How much do you spend on smoking a day?" The smoker replies "on average about 10 bucks." The non smoker then continues there line of questioning with "and how long have you been smoking?" to which the smoker replies "20 years" After doing some quick math the non smoker declares "The money you've spent on cigarettes would have been enough to buy a Ferrari!" Smoker asks "do you smoke?" non smoker "no." Smoker "then where's your Ferrari?" It's nice to hear about someone actually put the cigarette money aside. Perhaps it's not too late for me to get that Ferrari if I quit
My mom smoke from age 12 to 57. And when I was in my late teen, she kept saying she never gets anything for herself, etc. Rightly so, she wasn’t really buying clothing (she hates shopping anyway), getting her hair done, she doesn’t drive so no extra expenses there or trips. However, I had to reminder back then that she was spending some money on herself, but it was all going up in smoke!
Me, 37, not wanting to come on the show only cuz I'll be an 'older' guest even though I did most things how Caleb suggests and could be an interesting show 😂 (I know, stupid fear)
Gambling is an addiction, and it’s so clear here. She’s willing to lose thousands at the casino, she’s going constantly, she’s trying to justify it. She’s an addict and she needs professional mental health support more than anything. Even just a few minutes into the episode, it’s clear. Edit: hearing the sad stories as well and the family history of addiction… Melissa please get some help. End the cycle, you can heal 💜
I know and the denial is strong with her. They’re the addicts that are the hardest to help because they truly just believe they don’t have a problem. It’s heartbreaking and I pray she reads the comments and can realize that it is an issue and she needs help. I was praying that Caleb would throw in his two cents and recommend an addiction therapist.
Yes I think it's ingrained in her, and the debt and credit card juggling is a symptom. She's addicted to the instability, the not knowing, the adrenaline of being on the verge of disaster but hey, everything is great today. She needs major help!
Gambling also leads to divorce when the gambler thinks they don't have a problem and won't take responsibility for addressing it. I cut my losses because he wouldn't, and my financial state is now terrific. His gambling is no longer my problem and it is such a relief.
I went to the casino on my 18th birthday in 2010 and lost $20 on the first machine I came across. I'm still salty. That $20 in an average market investment fund could have been a lot of money by now! 😂
literally how it is for me as well. went when i turned 18 walked in with $50 played on it for a few hours lost it all and was salty about it and decided there and then gambling doesn’t do it for me. i work hard for my money just to give it away no thank youuu lol
The sawmill I contract for just announced it’s shutting down for good. thank god for listening to this show. I have an emergency fund and have paid off tens of thousands in debt over the last year. @@MrManfred951thank you!! I have been side hustling and have pretty good employment opportunities outside of the mill but there are 220 people facing this and I am definitely in the minority. It’s super sad all around
I work security at a casino on weekends.. it's scary how many "regulars" lose thousands of dollars regularly. I will never understand how people even enjoy casinos, brainless activities.
The luck and chance, the people watching, addiction, things hold different entertainment value for each individual. And in fairness, while you call it brainless activity a number of the card games SHOULD rely on knowing the odds inside-out (ie. blackjack) or having an extensive knowledge of the game itself (ie. poker).
I can understand gambling as entertainment on a Vegas vacation or a cruise ship. But it has to be a very rare occasion and you budget the small amount you're allowed to use. (And not while in CC or other bad debt.) When my cousin got married in Vegas in ~2017 my slot machine budget was 20 bucks for the weekend. 😂
It actually has something to with with our dopamine receptors. The machines re-enact an hunter gather experience by tempting you with massive riches for sticking with something
@@mystic0screams Watching this I got an impression she watched White Lotus and decided to base her personality on the rich lady from there. So it didn't feel real to me.

Caleb, because of this show, I've paid off my 7k in cc debt in 4 months, I'm a third of the way to a 6 month ER fund, I'm selling things I don't need/use and I'm slowly getting my grocery bill to that $300 mark. So thankful for you and the brave souls that have me my wake up call 💙
The most important thing you can do is keep saving your money, grow your money and most importantly do not tell anyone. Hold on to your money and build your own independence. A lot of people will always live check to check because they chose that life. People will have their hand out too wanting something. You have to be strong and put yourself first.
I know she has a gambling addiction and lots of debt, BUT she does seem receptive to learning how to get on the right path. Addiction is no joke, especially since it's in the family. I hope she can be the one to break the cycle, and I'm really rooting for her because it seems like she genuinely wants help. She's also really sweet with the "honey" talk and has great hair! I really hope we see a good update video from her.
So many people fall into this mentality. "I spend my cash on something stupid, and then put the essentials on my credit cards. You can use credit for essentials right?" They don't realize that if you spend $400 cash on BS, then have to put $400 on credit to get groceries, you actually used your credit card on BS.
Caleb, when she said “I think I’m making excuses” that was a good realization that she let slip. You should acknowledge when the guest does things like that and praise them. Just like training a puppy or a small child to repeat good behaviors.
I went to Vegas with my brother and husband for my brother's 21st birthday. We lost $20 and decided gambling was dumb and just got food and went hiking.
Went for the first time recently and decided to just use the singles I happened to have. Spent about $5 and walked away with $22. Hahaha. That was enough for me.
Hey Caleb, i’ve been a fan for a very long time and i never comment on videos. However, I want to say the way you get on people for vaping due to the health effects and wasteful spending has gotten me to finally quit. 4 days strong with no vapes ! thanks for the inspiring words
It's obvious from the first 5-6 minutes that she has a gambling problem. Being so unwilling to give up gambling with this much debt tells me she has a problem with it.
Tell her that a 30 percent interest rate means the debt doubles every 2.4 years. That hard an easy way to understand. So her $4000 credit card becomes $8000 at the beginning of 2027 and $16k in mid 2029 and $32k at the end of 2031. In ten years, it is $64k without spending a single penny on it.
She was surprised at how long it would take to pay her debt off...imagine her surprise to how much total she would be paying! I think that would be a good point for some of these people
She is a people pleaser and self neglects; she needs to take agency and start doing what’s in her best interest and setting limits with people and with herself.
I went to a casino once and they gave me $25 in free play. I instantly won $350 on a slot machine so I immediately cashed it out, paid my AmEx with it and never went back 😂
I’m trying to quit smoking and when Caleb talks about why you should it’s extremely motivating and compassionate. Please someone make a compiliation of his anti smoking rants for me to watch during cravings please I’m so serious!
@gch310 I hit 1 year two days ago. Take advantage of mints/gum for the first couple of weeks to help you. Every day I would put into a spreadsheet how much money I was saving that day to motivate me. Good luck. Also to you gingerbreadman, you got this,
Growing up in Las Vegas, this one hits home. Thanks for having this guest on, the more predatory industries are brought to light, the better for the people.
I think this woman can get her situation straight if she has more structure and maybe her husband is involved in her financial life. At least she is honest about her lifestyle. Most gamblers think they will make up their losses on the next trip to the casino and sometimes they get it back but the casino always wins in the long run.
@@SavantAudiosurfkind of is though.. sure it depends on the person, but most people, the average person 1k is a lot, especially per month. That’s practically a whole paycheck for me.. about $1,200 I get.. so I say yeah it’s a lot.. I’d be so happy to have an extra 1k a month
Ramit is pronounced Ra-meet. But he absolutely does not say "live your rich life now" if you're not living within your means. She isnt lying when she says she picks her favorite parts. She ignored 99% of his advice to justify going to casinos and buying scratch cards.
100% agree with everything you said. It’s ra-meet. And his “live your rich life” is Live within your means and do things to make your life “rich”. Even if that’s reading a lot and making sure you can afford new books. Or expensive travel. Or even being able to go to the gas station and not look at the prices. And it’s not “now” it’s…work to be able to achieve that “rich life” and as things progress your rich life goals can as well. She only heard what she wanted. Also to anyone reading, ramits channel is amazing. Scroll a little further back to see the older (more relatable) videos. He gives solid advice especially for couples. He digs deeper on the why do you think this type of way with money (into childhood influences)
@emilys8890 I think the Caleb to Ramit pipeline is a natural one--Caleb's style is more focused on addressing debt situations, Ramit focuses more on the next stage of life, putting your money to work and allowing yourself to enjoy it along the way.
He asks people “what is your rich life” and if they said “I want to be able to gamble 3 months a year” he would say “great let’s make a spending plan and save to get there”. It’s live your rich life not live your rich life _now_ lol
He says spend extravagantly on what you love. This for an addict, gives them permission to gamble more in their minds. He doesn't emphasize the living in your means. He emphasizes living your rich life now. For people looking for an ok to spend, this is a green light to be dumb
$216k in debt makes me feel better about my life now. My husband and I have less than $10k and have been aggressively paying it off. We're both in our late 20's and realized we're not responsible enough for credit cards. We cook at home a lot, sit down, go over budgeting, and have stuck to it for this last year. We are almost debt-free and plan to be by the middle of next year! Thanks for everything Caleb!
Same with my wife and I. Late 20’s and look at our irresponsibility with such shame, especially since I’m the sole income earner. Got less than 15k of debt to go and should be done by the end of January. Keep up the good work!
She should sell that to one of the other guests who are making t-shirts. Hell, Caleb could make bank just selling shirts with some of the dumb stuff we here on the show.
Ramit says to "live your rich life" but would absolutely not encourage gambling in this debt. "Live your rich life" is basically about deciding what's important in your 50% needs (expensive apartment in desirable area? nice car?) and 30% wants (vacation, restaurants, gambling and smoking if you want). But be conscious and deliberate with your spending.
I nearly cried it when she said the slot machines are fun. My dad's whole family is addicted to gambling on the slot machines and I can tell you first hand there is nothing exciting about watching people glued to their seat for hours pushing a button and watching a screen roll over and take their money. I've heard stories of people so addicted to them that they don't even get up to use the bathroom and they just go on the chair and the casino is used to it. Gambling is a horrible addiction and I hope she's able to break that cycle
The problem of only taking bits and pieces from each person. She left off the conscious spending plan and investing for your future that is also part of living your rich life.
This episode was helpful discussing how long it takes to pay off on minimums. Caleb is getting me together, each episodes offers a different lesson or perspective. Appreciate your efforts and the guests sharing their financial lives.
I lost $30 and pushed a button 2 times and I was like this is some straight BS. How do ppl just become zombies to this? It has to be all the flashing lights and constant jingles from the machines.
I lost $20 in Vegas the one and only time I went there. Don’t like Vegas AT ALL. No history which to me is the only reason to go anywhere. On the last day found ‘old Vegas’ and liked that . Bottom line, hate casinos, don’t even buy Lotto …suckers game.
She’s really likable. It’s really sad she has so much debt. She could pay that off in a few years with that kind of salary and working some overtime. I truly hope she gets help for gambling and sticks with it.
My cat got stuck in the wall this morning. I had to hammer a hole in my wall to get her dumb ass out, making me an hour late to work. I needed this today. Thank you.
@@Watertype637 yes🤣 I got her out. She is in timeout in the master bedroom. Just means I'll have to go to Menards after work to grab some drywall and patch up the hole when I get home.
Haha - she didn't learn anything from the two minutes she watched of Ramit! Oh, also the balance transfers have an upfront fee like 3% or 4%. No free money!
Im 23 and my financial situation is not great but this show makes me feel better about it and want to do better. Any time i catch myself adding “taquitos” to my cart i watch a few episodes.
For me it’s just addicts who are in denial. Like I understand having an addiction, but acting like you aren’t addicted or don’t have a problem makes me so livid lol.
My sisters mom is like this - it’s sad. Goes to the casino when she needs money (thinking she’s going to win big) and leaves with less than what she came with. No retirement, high cc debt, she thinks she’s going to win big once and be able to retire
I enjoy all of these videos but I really enjoyed this one. She knew she was the problem, handled it gracefully. I pray she takes your advice Caleb and gets out of debt.
I know a married couple who are extremely successful but keep finances separate. They discussed whose gonna cover what bills and pay for their kid as they go but otherwise their finances and retirement and savings and individual debts are completely separate and they're very successful. Both are doing well no ones bringing the other down. I think it can work with 100% transparency and communication
Yes, my husband and I do exactly this. Everything is 100% separate, but we communicate and never have any issues or arguments over money. Not everyone needs to combine finances. Find what works for you.
Oh my goodness, people please NEVER fund your child’s gambling, and especially do not introduce them to gambling. People have their lives, and their families lives ruined by gambling addiction. It would be one thing if the daughter was like in her 30s and going herself and so you go together for her birthday, but introducing your teenage daughter to adulthood by taking her gambling??? Please, please don’t do that. They’re even more vulnerable at that age, that’s why so many places have the age limit higher. Don’t teach your teenager to gamble.
My Grandma had a gambling addiction and was exactly like this with her money! When my grandpa passed away, she cashed out his life insurance policy and hers! She kept all of the money and spent it (instead of giving to the family like it was supposed to be done) and then got out 3-10,000 loans, one of them was on the house. We just lost the house in July ( a house that was in the family for almost 60 years) because no one knew about the secret mortgage loan!
As a recovering addict she is 10000% a gambling addict. She said she 12:31 "checked this" and says shes not but is to cigarettes is absolutely bullshit excuse coping to give a reason to continue gambling. Wish her the best. Addiction is a rough beast i wouldn't wish on anyone.
Yep. She's a "health professional" and probably tries to distance herself from mom's addiction by excusing her own as "only cigarettes" or "just a little entertainment" (gambling) but couldn't drop any of them without her life, marriage, job imploding.
@@ridinwithjakeit absolutely does. Any addiction causes you to neglect your vital needs more than you should. Cigarettes is definitely one of the most toxic addictions but I would take many addictions before gambling
Ramit says live your rich life, but not everything is your rich life. You have to choose what you spend money on "your rich life" and aggressively save on everything else, but most people want to spend on everthing. A big house, an expensive car, vacations, and shopping cannot all be your rich life. Also living your rich life occurs when you are out of debt.
Yeah, she did not listen to, like, ANYTHING else Ramit says. It would be like spending everything you have because Dave Ramsey says "Live Like No One Else."
Shes crippling her daughters AND ruining her financial situation. I hope her kids see this and stop accepting/asking for money. They need to grow up just as much as she does.
Hey Caleb, idk if you're gonna see this, but just something I'd figured I'd let you know. If you are a full time Walmart employee, they will 100% pay for your bachelor's degree. Tuition, books, etc. You just have to maintain I think it's a C average, and stay full time. It's all online but there's a pretty good variety. I just wanted to say that because I see people on here go into student debt all the time and also not have a job haha. Hope this info just helps one person!
When I worked at Walmart they didnt even work around my school schedule let alone pay for my school lol. I had to work my school schedule around Walmart, which resulted in me missing shifts or skipping classes in some cases. That was like 8 years ago, so I am sure a lot has changed, but I wouldnt rely on Walmart for anything
@@Tre2cool96 So I could be wrong, but from my experience its only online now. Im sure they do that because they knew it could interfere so now its 100% online

I signed up for one of the online sports betting apps and got a sign up bonus which I used to bet on both sides. I was guaranteed money and have never used the app again....
Hrm... I'm not sure if I believe you. Most casinos (everyone I've ever been in) do not allow you to cash out your free play. Unless you gamble it and win it back.
I previously worked at a casino and was assigned to working with the "diamond" members,or the high spenders. Most of them were elderly,65+ in age. In orientation we were instructed to get to know these people, learn everything we can about them, and encourage them to come back to see us. It was super predatory. HOWEVER,on numerous occasions people would snap and yell at me because they lost 10 grand in a single weekend, and all I could think was "You lost a third of my yearly income in two days. 10 grand would change my life."
When I was a new pet owner, I didn’t know about pet insurance. My little baby got really sick really fast. Lost 10lbs in less than a week, and spent days at the vet and nights at the emergency vet. Cost me $4,000+ plus however much her follow ups were. I’m glad I have the funds to cover it but it bled me dry. Get pet insurance!! Things happen and they happen quick. My baby is doing well and just celebrated her 5th bday 💕
In Poland where I live it’s not even possible for me to issue a credit card if I have any debt. This lady is in +200k debt and mentioned issuing 2 new credit cards. How it it possible in the USA?

There is a future where your daughter never speaks to you ever again. To make sure this doesn’t happen you need to take action today.
Yea, I don’t see how she can’t see that she’s hurting her daughter the same way her mother did😢
Wow that’s so powerful, you’re so right 😢
Yes, goodness the first 5 minutes is just "wow, this is what a true gambling addict is."
Coming from a daughter of an addict mother, the fact they love the addiction and they describe it as “fun” more than they love us, is mind boggling. 😢
@@ira_herself997and she’s experienced the same too. she needs therapy man
Her saying she knows addiction runs in her family and says she KNOWS she doesnt have an addiction and has "checked it" is 100% addict mindset and behavior, shes gonna need help

Welcome to the world of addiction
Every time she calls him "Hun or Honey" I chuckle. Its so precious. Then he got salty when Honey bunny came into the picture. 😭
I know 😂😂😂😂😂😂 that had my dying 💀
This is how people in the south talk. I live in Virginia. Any diner or greasy spoon restaurant w a waitress over 30 years old you’ve got a 86% chance of being called that. It’s just how women talk around here
Nothing gives me the ick like someone referring to their significant other by their pet name to people who aren’t said significant other
It's lovely 😂❤
I agree but she does pull it off 😅@@kdrosed3
Her hair is GORGEOUS. It's truly distracting me from the severity of her situation.
Same omg 😂
She has gorgeous hair!!! And she’s really pretty.. I’m surprised with the amount she smokes, that it doesn’t seem to have really done much to her skin/hair etc?? I’ve seen some smokers who smoke as much as her and don’t have good skin and hair. But she’s so pretty! She’s lucky
Glad I’m not the only one thinking this
@@CynthiaBrooke96Maybe she only smokes a lot sometimes. Like quits for years then when she gets depressed starts smoking a lot so it affects her less since she might do it less throughout her whole life lol idk
Same here! So pretty❤
What i learned today: $4000 isnt a lot of money to have, but $4000 is a lot of debt paying minimum every month
It's more than the price of my dream sewing machine, so nothing to sneeze at in my opinion.
Rule to live by any amount money is a lot and to much loose Im spent a thousand on girls over last five years it was waste and even though stay put debt and was over years that still alot money 💵 to waste 😮
Over $216k in debt and she thinks dropping thousands at the casino isn’t a big deal! 🙄
Insanity.
well she saves for it so I don't understand the problem /s
Its less than half a percent of the debt. If she keeps up at that pace, it'll be less than a quarter of a percent by this time next year.
She's got memories of Oklahoma, though!
Exactly why people like her are in insane debt. They're dumb enough to give a casino all their money, why wouldn't they take out as much as they could to gamble it?
Gamblers are known to have some of the WORST DEBT EVER (combination of gambling, personal, and bills) so not surprised at all.
She may not be good with money but she seems like a genuinely nice lady.
I hope you're joking. Being cutesy while driving off a (financial) cliff is not nice.
Lying and hiding things from your husband is not nice.
Enablers are always the nicest people.
She essentially hid $200k+ debt from her honey bunny. Doesn't seem very genuinely nice to me.
You're NUTZ!
@benjamin sounds like projection
Ooh good point
Her finances may be 💩 but her hair is fabulous. Hope her finances become just as great as her hair.
I do like her hair.
Right?! Heckin gorge.
I was thinking the same thing - her hair is gorgeous! Now she just needs to get her finances to match it lol
That was the first thing I noticed! 💁🏼♀️
She might have to sell her hair. Are you interested?
She’s in deep denial about her gambling addiction. Not replacing or repairing your central air so that you don’t have to give up your gambling money, is classic addiction behavior. It sadly reminds me of my grandma that died with hundreds of thousands in gambling debt.
So sorry.
Good way to end up with mold in the house!
Ouch
Definitely one of the most likable guests and enjoyable episodes! The debt is insane and the smoking and gambling are concerning but at least she wasn’t defensive and argumentative like the majority of the people on here. I hope she turns things around and succeeds!! I’m rooting for her!

But completely unaware of her reality.
"Budget for the casino" is a phrase I never thought I'd hear on this show. lol
I’m Not surprised tbh
That cracked me up. She seems to be void of any true common sense.
It sounds like she lacks patience. She heard rich people save, so she saves, but that takes too long, so she goes to the casino to turn $1000 into $1million, not thinking about the fact that casinos stay in business because they're NOT pumping out millions of dollars.
Same as budget for a hobby. She just has a risky hobby😂😂😂😂
I honestly expected it, but I live surrounded by casinos and people who love going.
ive never heard a guest actually hitting the table, but I always hear Caleb pounding on the table
He's allowed to haha
On headphones it tickles my brain.
Ya it doesn’t make sense. Pretty dumb IMO as the boom arm will be less affected than the short stand he’s using 🤦🏻♂️
There were at least two recently that were really bugging me every time they banged on the table cause I wear headphones 😭
He always tell guests to not hit the table, lol
Well bless her heart.😌
I'm only 5 minutes in, but her entering financial audit saying she's heading to the casino right after is crazy and gives me doubts
Maybe she does a complete 180 later on lol
Honey Bunny is big mad!
As soon as she said “casino”, I knew this was going to be good.

She's heading straight from here to the casino 🙈

Patrick: Yup.
Manray: And these financial records say you lose $1k-$2k a month gambling. You also have debt.
Patrick: Yup.

Patrick: That makes sense to me.

"Just came back from the casinos and I'm going back after I leave this show"
Ohhh boy.
"With my daughter who is turning 18. But I'm not an addict. I took a survey..."
One of my family members quit smoking 17 years ago. She took the money she was spending on cigarettes a month and put it in a savings account instead. Kept track, when the price of cigarettes went up she put more money in. Has saved $61,000 in 17 years. That became her home renovation/new TV/vacation fund.
There's a joke us smokers like to tell each other that goes like this:
A non smoker asks a smoker "How much do you spend on smoking a day?" The smoker replies "on average about 10 bucks."
The non smoker then continues there line of questioning with "and how long have you been smoking?" to which the smoker replies "20 years"
After doing some quick math the non smoker declares "The money you've spent on cigarettes would have been enough to buy a Ferrari!"
Smoker asks "do you smoke?"
non smoker "no."
Smoker "then where's your Ferrari?"
It's nice to hear about someone actually put the cigarette money aside. Perhaps it's not too late for me to get that Ferrari if I quit
Haven’t gotten to the smoking part yet but that explains why she looks so old
Woulda been well over 500K if that was in $SPY lmfao
I'm putting mine aside ..... makes me smile looking at those $$$🤩grow.
This channel has single handedly changed my financial situation dramatically in such a positive way
It's always nice to see more older guests on here so young folks can see what's waiting if they don't get their shit together now.
Yess I prefer these episodes because so many younger people like to be in denial of what their situation could look like in the future
Yes, these episodes keep me from buying fast food and keep me stashing money for retirement.
That was my thought exactly.
I lost $50 at the casino and couldn’t let it go for like 2 months 😂😂
I went to the casino on my 18th birthday in 2010 and lost $20 on the first machine I came across. I'm still salty.

I work security at a casino on weekends.. it's scary how many "regulars" lose thousands of dollars regularly. I will never understand how people even enjoy casinos, brainless activities.
It's the equivalent of the newest generations technology/ short attention span brain mush
Ever played gacha games lmao
The luck and chance, the people watching, addiction, things hold different entertainment value for each individual. And in fairness, while you call it brainless activity a number of the card games SHOULD rely on knowing the odds inside-out (ie. blackjack) or having an extensive knowledge of the game itself (ie. poker).
I can understand gambling as entertainment on a Vegas vacation or a cruise ship. But it has to be a very rare occasion and you budget the small amount you're allowed to use. (And not while in CC or other bad debt.)
When my cousin got married in Vegas in ~2017 my slot machine budget was 20 bucks for the weekend. 😂

The most important thing you can do is keep saving your money, grow your money and most importantly do not tell anyone. Hold on to your money and build your own independence. A lot of people will always live check to check because they chose that life. People will have their hand out too wanting something. You have to be strong and put yourself first.

she really did the girl math hahaha
So many people fall into this mentality. "I spend my cash on something stupid, and then put the essentials on my credit cards. You can use credit for essentials right?" They don't realize that if you spend $400 cash on BS, then have to put $400 on credit to get groceries, you actually used your credit card on BS.

The gambling addiction is strong with this one
She is 100% no being truthful with the amount of money she loses at the casino. Hence why losing $1000 is nothing to her.
She’s probably lost hundreds of thousands over the years.
Caleb, when she said “I think I’m making excuses” that was a good realization that she let slip. You should acknowledge when the guest does things like that and praise them. Just like training a puppy or a small child to repeat good behaviors.

Imagine thinking that 1.2% of the work you put in every year means nothing.
The correct response to "$1000 isn't a lot of money" is: "can you give me $1000?"
For real, I recently went on a cruise and gambled about $60-80 there and felt dumb lol

$1000 is really not a lot of money but it depends on the person.
I think this woman can get her situation straight if she has more structure and maybe her husband is involved in her financial life. At least she is honest about her lifestyle. Most gamblers think they will make up their losses on the next trip to the casino and sometimes they get it back but the casino always wins in the long run.

Ramit is pronounced Ra-meet. But he absolutely does not say "live your rich life now" if you're not living within your means. She isnt lying when she says she picks her favorite parts. She ignored 99% of his advice to justify going to casinos and buying scratch cards.
Live your rich life now ... and a richer life tomorrow. And all the steps to get there. She missed ALL that.
100% agree with everything you said. It’s ra-meet.
And his “live your rich life” is
Live within your means and do things to make your life “rich”.
@@Old_Man_Andy Wow, well done! Keep it up!

She should sell that to one of the other guests who are making t-shirts. Hell, Caleb could make bank just selling shirts with some of the dumb stuff we here on the show.
Stupidity doesn't get any richer than this
Ramit says to "live your rich life" but would absolutely not encourage gambling in this debt. "Live your rich life" is basically about deciding what's important in your 50% needs (expensive apartment in desirable area? nice car?) and 30% wants (vacation, restaurants, gambling and smoking if you want). But be conscious and deliberate with your spending.
Nope, but if it fits in the guilt free spending….go for it!!!

She’s really likable. It’s really sad she has so much debt. She could pay that off in a few years with that kind of salary and working some overtime. I truly hope she gets help for gambling and sticks with it.
My cat got stuck in the wall this morning. I had to hammer a hole in my wall to get her dumb ass out, making me an hour late to work. I needed this today. Thank you.
Cats.
Cat in the wall, eh? Okay now your talking my language
Is the cat okay?! 😱
@@Watertype637 yes🤣 I got her out. She is in timeout in the master bedroom. Just means I'll have to go to Menards after work to grab some drywall and patch up the hole when I get home.
@@scarfamellywas gonna say the same thing 😂
The Ramit / Caleb cinematic universe fully converged this week lol
Bless her for watching him, but it's not going to work if she doesn't get the "why" of it
Haha - she didn't learn anything from the two minutes she watched of Ramit!
Oh, also the balance transfers have an upfront fee like 3% or 4%. No free money!
@@andreamckenzie8598 Ramit would have a field day with her and her honey bunny. 🤣
It would be like a 3-part episode. 😂
Im 23 and my financial situation is not great but this show makes me feel better about it and want to do better. Any time i catch myself adding “taquitos” to my cart i watch a few episodes.
That’s smart lol. I need to do that too
Nothing annoys me more than people that are passive aggressively sweet, while simultaneously telling you every stupid thing she does is normal.
For me it’s just addicts who are in denial. Like I understand having an addiction, but acting like you aren’t addicted or don’t have a problem makes me so livid lol.
She grew up with alcoholics and druggies. She doesn't know how to properly vent her anger because it would likely cost her in safety.
It is normal… to her.
I'll take passive aggressive over aggressive aggressive any day of the week
My sisters mom is like this - it’s sad. Goes to the casino when she needs money (thinking she’s going to win big) and leaves with less than what she came with. No retirement, high cc debt, she thinks she’s going to win big once and be able to retire
My aunt as well… 80 years old and no retirement. I’m glad it’s still illegal in Texas but now sports betting is legal 😢
"My sisters mom"... so.. your mom?
@@ahrenstein6096probably different moms, like a half sister
You understand people can have the same father, diff mums, right? @@ahrenstein6096
@@ahrenstein6096 no, my sisters mom. We have the same dad, different moms.
Smart!
Same. Joint account for certain expenses and we discuss large purchases.
But she said it’s so much fun!
In her 30s 😂
My Grandma had a gambling addiction and was exactly like this with her money! When my grandpa passed away, she cashed out his life insurance policy and hers! She kept all of the money and spent it (instead of giving to the family like it was supposed to be done) and then got out 3-10,000 loans, one of them was on the house. We just lost the house in July ( a house that was in the family for almost 60 years) because no one knew about the secret mortgage loan!
Bro Caleb you stay dropping HEAT. I can't get a break. I literally have to watch this channel daily.
But at least gambling doesn’t ruin your health unlike drugs and alcohol
@@ridinwithjakenah you’re right… just your entire life. No biggie right?
@@ridinwithjakeit absolutely does. Any addiction causes you to neglect your vital needs more than you should. Cigarettes is definitely one of the most toxic addictions but I would take many addictions before gambling
@@ridinwithjakeshe smokes though
Ramit says live your rich life, but not everything is your rich life. You have to choose what you spend money on "your rich life" and aggressively save on everything else, but most people want to spend on everthing. A big house, an expensive car, vacations, and shopping cannot all be your rich life. Also living your rich life occurs when you are out of debt.
So you’re saying she took it out of context? Imagine my shock🤣🤙🏼
Yeah, she did not listen to, like, ANYTHING else Ramit says. It would be like spending everything you have because Dave Ramsey says "Live Like No One Else."
I was looking for this comment. I also watch Ramit's content and she completely missed the point.
Shes crippling her daughters AND ruining her financial situation. I hope her kids see this and stop accepting/asking for money. They need to grow up just as much as she does.
I hope they don't have to take care of her because her lungs crap out, or pay her bills because she "has no debt" and "only gambles cash".
Yes. More older guests please. I'm 40 next year and need more of this content to put a fire under my butt.
Just when I think the previous guest could not be topped...the next guest comes in 😂😂😂😂 she seems super sweet and caring. I bet she is a great nurse ❤
Starbucks also does this for part time ❤
When I worked at Walmart they didnt even work around my school schedule let alone pay for my school lol.

A harmless and probably healthy addiction!
24:55 Yes, she's addicted to gambling. It's a classic coping mechanism. She's barely considering not going after the show. She's bringing her daughter into it too. Gross.
Very worrying!! Passing on bad habits😭
Scammer get rich quick vibes. She’s so helpless and those bills will disappear if she calls people honey enough
I went to a casino once with friends.
signed up for a play card, they give you $10 to start.
I cashed out and went to McDonald's.
I'm now in the top 95% of Casino goers
I signed up for one of the online sports betting apps and got a sign up bonus which I used to bet on both sides. I was guaranteed money and have never used the app again....
Wow you guys are swindlers
@@Forsepoker how so?
Our international service organization had a conference on the MS Gulf Coast, the Grand gave each of us $30.00 in coins. Most of us cashed it in.😊😊
HOWEVER,on numerous occasions people would snap and yell at me because they lost 10 grand in a single weekend, and all I could think was
"You lost a third of my yearly income in two days. 10 grand would change my life."
Oh gosh she is so SO sweet, god I hope she is able to help herself. It hurts to see such a genuine person be in such a situation

How it it possible in the USA?
.... a thousand dollars is more than I've spent on gambling in my entire life. I can barely stomach losing 20 bucks on that.
At my aunts bachelorette party she showed me how to play using like $1 of the $50 I brought and I lost most of that dollar. Just losing that was enough to churn my stomach and I spent the rest of the night at the bar or just walking around 😭 I can’t imagine wanting to do this all the time while using more money. 💀
