Yeah white was a good ally but so was orange. The decision came down to what they did in the end. White just broke orange and nothing else. Orange full sent white which was what secured my win
What a rare opportunity for the +8 with a good chance of holding. White held out for 1st and deserved 3rd IMO. Orange either had more guts or was more realistic. In any case, their stacks were pointed at white, not you, so I don't know what white thought would happen to give them the win. Very well played, using alliances and reading the board perfectly.
That's the right decision. Slamming the main stack deserves 2nd. White only broke and attacked 1 troop, didn't break australia and asked you to attack. He didn't expect the orange suing him, and was probably thinking of betraying you after you weaken yourself by hitting orange's bigger stacks.
I would have given white second. He cooperated from the beginning, was non-hostile with the soft guard, and started the aggression towards orange at the end when you told him to. Orange on the other hand was kind of a nothing ally who didn't clear pinks exterior when you asked him to and never really did anything for you
