Your Scout is absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't afford to buy one when they first came out - I wanted one in 376 Steyr. Sadly, that isn't made anymore. Anyway, I shall buy one in 308.
PS Among my favorite hunting rifles is something older - a Steyr Mannlicher full stock rifle in 6.5x54. I've made my daughter promise that she would take care of it the most of all my guns when my time comes, and that it would never leave the family. Love it that much!

When you buy a 376 Scout you purchase a box of cartridges to go with it. Decades later your Son inherits the rifle along with the 19 cartridges that are left from the box of 20.

Steyr should have offered this rifle in 6.5 Grendel or 7.62x39. Those are fantastic moderate power cartridges that fit this scout concept to a T. CZ sold a metric shit-ton of the carbines in 7.62x39 for this very reason.
On a side note, I notice they've cheapened the Scouts. Must of the lightening cuts on the bolt are no longer there?
