So im 4 months behind...this was the first song on "The drug in me is you" which happened right after he got out of jail(why he looks bad) this album had a decent range of pop punky stuff...and hardcore...no video for it but if you haven't already...check out (goodbye graceful, sink or swim, and don't mess with quiji boards)

I think the line regarding them trying to lean more hardcore in this album, it was just that sound back in 2013 and actually more 2006 than anything else. This first album was a continuation of ETF first album which he never got to do. That was more of the post hardcore/emo sound. After this album he went to explore and expand their music. Ronnie had to get this album in as a big FU to ETF.

One thing you didn't catch is when he screams "this war is mine" at 7:40 in reference to "this war is ours", one of the greatest songs he made with escape the fate. He definitely did some heavy stuff before and even in that album. The song you're talking about is called Carry On, recently released. Ronnie said on his stream that the song isn't due to the guitarist passing away, it's actually a song that he thought wasn't good enough to release with his last album. However, he showed it to twitch and they basically bullied him into releasing it.
Late to the game but he over the last few years has gotten really into taking care of his body. Eating plant based, exercise etc which is why he looks a lot healthier.
I know this is two years old...I think this is one of the first songs where they start to get away from the pop/punk rock genre to what they've evolved to.
