MTMTE writer James Roberts has said that he imagined Keith David as his ideal voice for Tarn. I wanted to see how close I could get.

The fact IDW's writers can make you empathize with the worst of the worst OF THE WORST, even in the smallest ways, is just incredible.

Tarn is literally "Alone at the edge of a universe, humming a tune." + "The stars were made for falling." + "It feels like flying, but maybe, we're dying." + "Children born of one emotion, our devotion's deepest ocean, no division reasoned we'll be free." + "We never meant to part." + "Invisible to some, until it's time." and that kind of makes me sad. He deserved better. But, that's what AUs and generally being delusional is for, I suppose.
The voice acting is amazing! You can feel the pain in Megatrons voice, dismantling the faction he spent his whole life building
Because Bee won the war for Cybertron since Transformers Prime.

Imagine the billions of voices that cried out with elation when Megatron himself ended the war.
It just so happened we got the one perspective that was the exact opposite of elated.
I absolutely love this! The voice for Tarn was gorgeous and fit him well.

You have to know that Megatron was like God to Tarn, to see Megatron defect is his hopes, beliefs, and world shatter before him. You have to respect him, because after all that he was able to turn down Suicide
Tarn reminds of Kylo Ren in some points,his obsession and some what love for Megatron reminds me of Ren's love and idealism of Vader

Is a Reliable leader.
Has proper morals.

Eldritch Agent not to mention is far more coordinated, and has a more interesting background than Ren. He is like Kylo in the sense of being a psychotic being, but unlike Ren, Tarn’s psychology does not inhibit him, and it can serve to him being a far more interesting character. Ren did what he did as a way of finding himself. Tarn did what he did for Megatron, and the Decepticons. When Ren finally killed Snoke, it seemed like he lost his purpose and only took up his role as Supreme Leader out of necessity and out of a last minute call. As without Rey, he had nothing. After Megatron defected to the Autobots, and abandoned the Decepticons and tried to dissolve them, Tarn considered committing suicide. His life’s obsession, thrown out the window, and changed from what he once knew. However, unlike Kylo, who only turned to Supreme Leader as more of a caught up in the moment last ditch effort to save himself, Tarn came to conclude the Decepticon cause was bigger and more important than Megatron himself. Had he succeeded in killing Megatron, he probably would’ve taken up leadership from the Decepticons. Or challenge Galvatron for leadership. Even though Galvatron doesn’t come into play until much later. One thing is certain. Starscream would’ve not been a worry for Tarn. Seeing as how Screamer was now the ruler of Cybertron. The bottom line is, Tarn and Kylo Ren are incomparable. When his one purpose was diminished, Kylo scrambled to find another one. When Tarn’s purpose and meaning life fell apart, he re-evaluated himself, gathered his thoughts, and sought a new purpose. Kylo scrambled after Snoke’s demise and Rey rejecting his offer to join him. Tarn found a new purpose after Megatron’s departure and attempted disbandment of the entire Decepticon movement.

Ben isn't at all compared to tarn unlike ben tarn actually can scare and drive in the face that his presence alone can silence a room
OMG this is amazing! if hasbro makes Tran into its animated shows they have to hire you as the voice, whenever I read Tarn I will hear your voice, so good job man!

I've been a Transformers fan for a pretty long time and the Decepticons were always just displayed as the bad guys, wanting to kill people without any reason. Megatron was just the main bad guy for me until I read IDW. He had a tragic backstory, his actions mad sense and you could really feel the pain he went through. The Decepticons weren't just the bad guys, the wanted to change Cybertron to a better place. It's really sad to see them being just portrayed as the bad guys in the bay movies when they're anything but. Of course they've done horrible things, but so have the Autobots. The IDW comics have one of the greatest storylines, if not the best, that I ever had the pleasure of seeing. Lots of fun moments to make you laugh but also some that tear your heart out and rip it to pieces.
Ummm... They're still the villains, sorry. The Autobots, for whatever flaws, don't aim to opress, subjugate, and annihilate non-cybertronian species. The Decepticons do. The Autobots believe that you have a right to live. The Decepticons see you as an infestation.

Guess what? Hitler thought he was helping Germany. Doesn't mean he wasn't evil.
If you're so desperate to see the script flipped, check out Shattered Glass. The cold hard reality is that the Decepticons are Evil, no matter what good intentions may have been there at the start.
@@Cdr2002 I didn't say that the Deceptions were completely innocent. They sure as heck have their flaws. I mainly said that in IDW, the things they did at least had a reason. And why again are you comparing a fictional story to Adolf Hitler? I'm sorry, but what kind of comparison is that?

@@somewherenothere3604 A person isn't black and white. A cause absolutely can be. The Decepticon philosophy is facism, supremacy, and brutality. They are the villains and no individuals within the intrinsically evil organization can change that fact.
@@somewherenothere3604 As for comparisons. Megatron is someone who set out to help his people out of a bad situation and strayed so far from that goal due to insanity, egotism, and an inherently flawed philosophy that he became a madman bent on world conquest and genocide. Sound familiar?
And do even realize what this comic scene is depicting? Tarn is sad because the guy who told him it's ok to be an unrepentant mass murderer decided that he was wrong. He regularly horribly mutilates and murders people like an SS officer and I'm supposed to feel sorry for the demented sycophantic serial killer because the guy he cultishly worshipped said "knock it off"? No. Because he's Evil.
Regardless of what you believe in, it's always hard when what you hold dear is being abandoned by the one who has taught it to you.

I have never read idw’s comics and yet this is still really sad.
Its so tragic that in the end Tarn did so much for the decepticons but the moment he started rethinking things he was killed for it

Is tarn's ability passive, or toggleable?
Good question! I'm not hugely knowledgeable when it comes to TF but I would think Tarn has to be consciously trying to use it. Otherwise he'd be accidentally killing people left and right, which heck, maybe would be an interesting bit of writing.
@@MintChocolateChimp Tarn's ability is his modified voice. Just by lowering his voice enough, he can cause a cybertronian spark to implode. In other words, *TARN CAN LITERALLY TALK SOMEONE TO DEATH!!!!*

Tarn was actually a mystery for the fans, there were several candidates, many figured it was flashback characters like Roller or Dominus Ambus but in the end it turned out to be Glitch, another flashback character and nobody that very few readers had guessed. The character 'Tarn' can be anyone, his body was used in the Cyberverse cartoon season 3 finale, as a standard Decepticon soldier for a alternate Megatron's army.

Are the deceptions more of a religion or a cult ?
I'm not terribly knowledgeable about Transformers so bear with me, but I'm pretty sure Decepticons were more of a militaristic political movement. Or Separatists, like the Confederacy in the American Civil War. Though it could probably be argued that Megatron was seen as a god by some followers.

In IDW, he Decepticon movement was a political movement started as an opposition to Functionism, essentially a caste system. The name comes from Megatron’s rallying cry “You are being deceived.”
Its more of a rebellion, theres no religious or cult stuff, remember when the one guy started a cult and got tortured to death just for making a cult within the Decepticon ranks (He was the only member though)
