This is not abnormal. A cop told me that he's seen fatal car crashes where everyone in the car died minus an infant in a bucket seat. I think it's the lower profile of the child plus extra protection from the seat construction.

I don’t even think culture has much of a role here. There’s no evidence of a history of domestic abuse either, even though people like that theory. I think she just recognises that at the centre of this all is a very ill man and a serious suicide attempt. And he probably thought it was easier to take them all in that moment than force his wife and kids to have the rest of their lives destroyed by tragedy. It would be sad but it would be over in an instant and the rest of the world would move on. This is how minds work with mental illness, so with all the world’s hatred on top, it has probably softened her heart towards him unfortunately. He should still do life while getting psychiatric support.

This one hits close to home for me. My Dad intentionally drove me and my family off a cliff in Brazil when I was 3 and my brother was 6. My mom was also 8 months pregnant with my brother. We all survived but my Mom broke her back and pelvis went into labor and almost died (she still has back problems and is lucky to be walking) She wasn’t wearing a seatbelt because she was so big and landed at the bottom of the cliff. My Dad was never charged my Mom never pursued anything and no one got in trouble. My dad would go on to drive us into a tree and also try to put us on fire. He wasn’t a great guy but we are safe now. I really feel for those kids and pray they get counseling and are kept safe. ❤

This entire case SCREAMS narcissistic abuse. The Good Guy doctor, cute little family, charming to all the neighbors... all the manipulation in place. Not to mention, with them being from a culture with very traditional, strict expectations and a strong gender-based power differential, it can very much provide an environment in which a narcissist can thrive. It's heartbreaking but not surprising that the wife is not wanting to press charges. It's entirely possible that she's getting NO support from the family, and that everyone is an enabler to her abusive husband. I am glad they don't need her cooperation to go forward with prosecuting this guy.

I hope the judge sees through Neha not wanting to press charges against her attempted murder. The wife not wanting to press charges against this guy who tried to kill her and her kids is so unusually common. I know it's to avoid prosecution, these victims have dealt with enough but it's for their own good and for the sake of others. I hope she can recover. Let the judge ignore that and go through with the case. Prosecutors, however, intend to proceed with charges, despite those wishes. I'm glad.

I was able to talk very briefly with her young daughter and only asked yes and no questions. I notified authorities out there and child protective services as well. I let my niece know that she was going to be safe very soon and that her mommy would be ok. By the grace of God my sister survived and we brought and her children back home. It's possible there was domestic abuse. It's also possible the husband was severely depressed and held onto some cultural beliefs about honor and families being better off dead than living with dishonor. If the wife is familiar with such beliefs, and recognizes that her husband was so severely depressed that he tried to end his life and the lives of his wife and children, she may simply want him to get treatment rather than be punished.

I think she has a moral obligation as a mother to testify against her husband and hold him accountable, and ensure he never has access to those children again. If a woman doesn't want to hold her abuser accountable, that's their choice, but once the kids are involved, that changes everything. The land is very unstable taking out sections of Hwy 1, a breathtakingly beautiful sceanic drive. I zoomed in on the shot @ 4:11 and it has changed dramatically. I couldnt figure out how going Northbound he went off at that spot, really as marked impossibe until I arrived @ 10:46.
