Thanks so much, Jeffrey! It’s difficult to play alone and under pressure, admittedly! 😅 Hope the tutorial was helpful to you! Feel free to check out the blog that goes with it (when I cut my finger and had to re-learn Nutcracker without the fourth finger 😳: 🔪 🩸 lynnkuo.com/blog/blog/i-cut-my-pinky-tip-before-a-nutcracker-show
Great tutorial! I'm going to try out a few things that you do differently than what I'm used to. I think changing a few things up will help with consistency/clarity! Thank you!
Thanks for watching and good luck, Adam! Everyone has their own fingering preferences but it doesn’t hurt to occasionally “take a vacation” from your normal fingerings, as I like to say. 😅
@@violynnkuo Totally agree! I've found that my fingerings have evolved too, especially in the last couple of years since playing it last. I'm looking forward to trying out new possibilities :-) Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching, Caroline! And you don’t even play the Overture as a cellist! 😀 And I think it’s difficult for me to calculate exactly how many Nutcrackers I’ve played as I’ve taken some shows and seasons off over the years. 😅
Circling back to this in 2023 since we have 5 performances this week! I can't imagine playing this 20 times - how in the World do your hands hold up?! 😅 I used to opt for the A string and staying in position, but understand that shifting up on the E string might make more sense! Will be trying this tomorrow and Thurs in dress rehearsal. Thank you, Lynn! 🎻 🎶
I'm preparing for an audition and this video helped me immensely! I was very intimidated by this excerpt at first, but your video gave me confidence! All your videos are extremely helpful! Tysm
I work at the National Opera and Ballet Theater in Kharkiv,Ukraine. And the time of the Nutcracker begins.)))I love him!💗❄️🎶And then i found your!!!I 'm happy!!✨✨✨✨🎻I wish you good luck and inspiration! And thanks for your valuable recommendations!💗💗💗🎶🎶❄️🎻❄️
Thanks for the tutorial! Could you use sheet music that is printed normally instead of handwritten? It is harder to read what the notes are in the handwritten version.
Thanks for watching, Blake! I provided the exact National Ballet of Canada Orchestra part that we use in all of our performances. However if you prefer, there is a version on IMSLP that you could use that will be easier to read. It just won't contain my fingerings. Sorry about that! Have a fun Nutcracker season!
When one of my auditions I am taking is asking: → Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite No. 1 Overture miniature: Complete, and not just m. 134 to the end... and no other repertoire on the list says "Complete"... That's one way to bet that an audition committee will guarantee to ask for this excerpt to be asked on stage.
Wow, just that ☝️ one excerpt is listed as “Complete”? Are they a ballet orchestra? How unusual! I would just focus on the two difficult sections that are the same material in different keys (F major and the ending in B flat major).
@@violynnkuo it's for ABILENE PHILHARMONIC FALL 2023 AUDITIONS. I cant post the link here, but google search their site, and they have the Section Violin rep list posted for the audition October 27th 2023

You’re very welcome! Ironically, this year, I’m not playing (the 27) Nutcrackers with the National Ballet of Canada due to my knee surgery! 🦿🩼❤️🩹
