- For this video I picked what I thought was the best song for every Starkid member. I tried to pick the song that I thought best displayed their strengths.
A few caveats:
I only counted the live stage shows (no cast recordings)
I only counted people who had prominent solos in at least two songs.
Some of these were EXTREMELY hard to pick
(*cough* Dylan *cough*)

Okay. Since Black Friday came out I will update this and say that Corey's best song is now Our Doors Are Open. I have to think about the new cast members for a bit more but I will update this comment eventually.

Unless Take Me Back counts as a solo song, then Do You Want to Play is definitely my favorite for Kim (but her voice shines in every song she sings in)

I think I Will Be Adored might be Lauren's new best song imo...and I'm seconding Yarns Yarnface re. Made In America ((I'd add What Tim Wants for Dylan, but while it's very good, I still think Kick it Up A Notch is better for Dylan))
Dylan is so hard to choose a song for, especially given that Twisted is essentially Dylan: The Musical
Natsumi Atsuko a perfect example of why twisted is my favorite lmaoo, I love everyone and all the shows sm, but Dylan just takes the cake man (also the lyrical composition of twisted literally is impeccable)

It’s short, but imo Jeff’s best vocal performance was in the reprise of “when the worlds at stake”. It shows a deepness, richness and strength that is usually covered by the screams. I love his voice, even when he does the really high notes, but it was so nice to see something a little more tender that really let his voice shine :)
I love his voice so much in America Is Great Again. Jeff's deep voice does something to me.

He's got a wonderful voice, especially in his lower range, but he excels in comedy songs, so we almost never really hear it.

I'll be honest, I agree with "Join Us and Die" for Jaime but I'm disappointed that the squeaky stylized "join! us! and! die!" repeats weren't included because I LOVE how she sounds on those and I feel like it demonstrates her vocal agility rly well

Ok, all of these I can agree with, except Jeff Blim and Joey Richter. America is Great Again is easily Jeff’s best song vocally, it shows off his vocals and range perfectly and it’s a song where he’s able to seriously sing, instead of doing more character singing, which he tends to have to do as he plays comedic and outlandish characters a lot. It’s the kind of song that makes you pause at his voice and just listen, and perfectly compliments his voice. For Joey, it’s clearly Status Quo, which again, showcases his voice perfectly. It’s a song that that requires the right amount of acting and vocal skill, which Joey absolutely nails. Sidekick is good, but Status Quo is a whole other level.
Ok, clark needs to be in a musical. My ears have been blessed

While I think the performance aspect of "Sidekick" from Joey is fabulous, I don't think I'd call it his best vocal performance. I would go with "Wagon on Fire" or one of his solos from Starship. If TCB shows were included, I'd say "One Step Ahead."
And I agree with the choice for Brian Holden! It isn't my personal favorite from him, I love the reprise of "Kick It Up a Notch" SO much. But I love it for the performance aspect. Vocally, "The Night Belongs to Snarl" shows his ability far better.

I feel like Jemilla's Lament is great in a few lines but it gets kind of clunky and idk if it was her acting choice or not but vocally because of that I think the choice in the video was an accurate one.

Tbh I thought Nick sounded...not great... in "Those Voices". Although that song is beautiful and I still listen to it on occasion. At least with "Nothin Like a Dick" the voice is in character.

i would probably choose i steal everything over orphaned at 33, but i am kinda biased as 33 is my least favorite song in twisted. also maybe dark, sad, lonely knight over achmed, but highkey a really tough decision aslkjkfjsvdf!! and i dont even know how you were able to pick for dylan. he. is. god. i love that man

I went back and forth on Orphaned at 33 and I Steal Everything a million times. It was a tough pick. I love Dark Sad Lonely Knight but I think he has more control in Achmed. And yes, Dylan was very hard to pick

Listen To Your Heart is so good!! One of my faves from MAMD
I agreed with every pick, except for Lauren Lopez. I think she sounded better in Climate Change and in Into the Night she sounded a little strained. But that’s just my opinion, sorry if it came off as rude.
I love love love Climate Change but Into the Night literally gives me chills. And I love hearing everyone's opinions! It didn't come of as rude at all.
There's like one high note that sounds strained because she's in her head voice for a lot of it.
I'm just curious, when does she sound strained? It just sounds like she switchs between mix and head a few times though I'm just basing it on the clip here. Would love to hear your opinion on it!
She sounds very nasally at the beginning, which can indicate strain between head voice and chest voice when a song is primarily focusing on your bridge (where head voice and chest voice meet). This can not be changed, as your bridge is decided by the shape of your vocal chords. For example, my bridge is G4 - A4. This pretty much means Lauren’s voice doesn’t fit well with the song, and I believe that climate change suits her voice better. Although, this may not be as big as a concern for Starkid, seeing as they are a musical theatre company and I mainly focus on opera/classical music, so I don’t know that much about musical theatre.
@@auroradainer Okay I get what you mean now. I lean more on the musical theater side with classical influence. However I don't usually see the term bridge, I'm guessing you're talking about the mix as that's a blend of head and chest. She does sound a bit nasally now that I listen again, this is unfortunately rather common within theater singers when they utilize a higher belt (from what I've seen)but can carry over to other parts. I think in this case and with the way she's singing, it's definitely within her break and thus makes it harder to transition more evenly? I could be wrong but that's what I would guess
I prefer I Was over To Have a home for Darren (though it's a close second), and I think Sidekick is awesome for Joey! And I prefer If I Believed for Dylan. But still, this vid is perfect. ESPECIALLY SIDEKICK.

For me personally, Dylan’s would have been Twisted in Twisted (always makes me cry), Jeff’s would have been America is Great Again, Joey’s would have been Wagon on Fire but dAmn those high notes... JON DURING THE SLOW PART IN LET IT OUT IS MY FAV F U CK, 100% agree with into the night for lauren bc it’s just the most true to her voice and i love it so much, for Meredith I probably would have gone with Jemilla’s Lament or her parts in The Night Belongs to Us even tho i loVe A Thousand and One Nights, WoW i forgot how much I love the riffy parts in Showstopping Number and just not over yet in general-
