    Rob, looks like the new place has good bones to it. I’m sure you’ll transform this place into something special! 😊

    Good luck Rob & family.
    Things are looking a bit dry at the moment but a bit of dust and smoke goes with the territory in that part of Queensland--in October--I used to think it was a bit like the landscape clearing its throat before downing an enormous glass of water.
    As others have said, the place looks to have very good bones and I am looking forward to watching the RobBob transformation begin.
    I have always admired your capacity to:
    --focus on the next step of your design process;
    (while remaining open to learning important lessons from the inevitable surprises);
    and, most remarkably;
    your full and honest sharing of your successes AND setbacks.

    Rob, the amount of potential for EVERYTHING with that property is incredible. What a incredible find. Look forward to seeing the imnprovements and projects You get started. Lee (On the Oregon Coast USA).

      Thanks Lee. We're focusing on getting the house sorted before doing much with the land itself. We'd like to make sure that we have any termite issues under control & also make sure the water to the house is secure.
      Once that's done we'll start to look at setting up the farm proper.
      Are you on land yourself?

      @RobsAquaponics , currently buying 20 acres from family who had a 100+ acre farm before they retired completely.. Valley with a River [Salmon spawning grounds up stream) splits it about 10 of if for raising livestock. The balance is wooded hillside w a little lumber still on it. Also have 1 3/4 acre that I'll be inheriting that has my current Greenhouse & Aquaponics setup on it.

    Nice Mate! 166 acres to play around on Rob. I actually looked at this place myself a little while back, was looking to find somewhere to be self sufficient, unfortunately it was a little too big! Glad it found some great people to look after it and to enjoy for many many years. Congratulations guys!!!

      Cheers Amit. There's a lot of work to do to get sections of it back up to speed & producing well but most the fences look good so that helps.

      We did make a request but they never responded Lee. It's really not that bad, I was more disappointed that it wasn't left how we were told it would be by the owners. We saw a lot worse at a few places we looked at where it was a walk in walk out sale.
      I'm working on the house at the moment (mouse proofing kitchen cabinets today) but would like to get the large shed cleaned out & swept clean before I head home for another load. As for the animal yards around the house yard, 🤔 I think they will all be changed once we settle in & work on a more efficient design.
      Thanks again for the book. 😁😁😁

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  7 месяцев назад

      It's wetter here than Ipswich, about 900+mm /35+" a year on average. When we first looked at the place in July/August the creek was flowing & the paddocks were greener. The end of winter has been very dry around here.

    5:45 that tree is so straight i bet you could find someone to take it down for you for free just to be able to make lumber from it.

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  7 месяцев назад +1

      We're leaving 10-12ft of it in as a stand for the tank pipe for now but the top will be coming off.👍 We will be looking for a small second hand portable mill as well down the track as there's loads of timber on the ground from the power easement that went through the back of the property last year.
