Kev has a keen, exceptional football mind! I love this guy! He’s amazing! Always keeping us Nole fans updated and highly informed about our upcoming opponents on a weekly basis!
This is truly amazing Kev. You literally broke down their entire system. Well done sir. It was a lot of fun to try to figure it out for myself as well, appreciate how you allowed us to interact with the video. Thanks as always!
I hate seeing it work against us, but I always loved the imposing phalanx look this offense has. Thank you for the analysis and teaching me something new!
I've come to look forward to these weekly videos so much - super informative, fun to watch/absorb, and definitely improving understanding of some more nuanced things to watch for during the games. Really enjoyed the aspect of the run-pass-pass quiz to pre-determine the likeliest play selection. It's a tall order, but I see Fiske helping to blow up the timing of some of the slow mesh due to initial burst into the backfield.
This was great, thank you! I don’t ever remember being as frustrated as I was last season watching this slow developing RPO. Hartman was great at getting rid of it just in time. Now I know why.
Kev was so annoyed by slow-mesh success that he had to solve the damn thing! Great breakdown as always… but kinda wish the team had access to it ten days ago.
Nicely done! I appreciate your analysis and love your teaching style. The quiz was a masterful addition! I hope to see more! Thanks for your great work.
I'm a Gator fan so it pains me too give you props but I have too admit the way you broke this down was excellent and it makes me want to run this concept great job
Nice work, Kev! Wake Forest's Slow Mesh RPO somewhat reminds me of the knuckleball in baseball. The knuckleball is often thrown by pitchers who might not have the same fastball velocity as others, but it gives them a unique advantage with its unpredictable movement. Similarly, the Slow Mesh RPO seems like a tactic employed to level the playing field, especially when going head-to-head with traditionally stronger teams. The extended decision-making time it grants the quarterback is akin to the unpredictable trajectory of a knuckleball, keeping the defense guessing and off balance. Wake Forest's utilization of this innovative offense has definitely set them apart, and it's going to be intriguing to see how FSU adapts to it in the upcoming game.
Another great vid! I've always wondered why some undersized High School teams don't adopt the slow mesh but might be too much for a HS QB to process. But if your breakdown on the reads is right it could be done.
Imagine if the Noles did this with teams having man coverage on Johnny and Keon every play and the added threat of Jordan's legs. Man, it seems like a no brainer.
Great analysis… again. What is your football background, player, coach? I played some high school football (Plantation Am. Heritage) and played some football post high school and did a little defensive coaching. Your breakdowns and insight are spot on. I have followed FSU since 1979 when I was in middle school and enjoy your takes immensely. Go Noles!
Thanks man. I played through high school and really just never stopped learning. I had some great coaches in high school and have found great resources to continue learning today online.
It comes downs to jimmy and joe. You need a QB that’s good and can make these reads accurately, you need a RB with good vision to see multiple lanes. And you still need a decent enough line to hold pressure. Watching the Pitt game they had some good plays against the slow mesh bc Wakes O-line got beat real fast. The absence of Hartman can be felt this year.
I'd blitz to counter it. Don't give Wake's QB time in the backfield to think. Don't give them any lanes to run. Get them behind the chains and mix in blitz looks to add extra confusion. Break the QB and you completely shut down their entire offense.
So don't bring a plus one and wait for them to make a mistake. Or always have your D/line attack at an angle and have your secondary fill cut back lanes....oh yeah, jam their receivers....HARD
Let's work under the assumption that you won't win one on ones. I would plug up interior gaps either by pinching my DEs or playing a tite front, force the give, and let my safeties rally to the run game. I think that's what most teams are doing to them this year and they don't have the run game right now to sustain much offense.
I think defensive pre-snap motion and stunting could at least make this difficult for a less experienced QB. That could provide some frustration for the offense, but it does look tough to defend when it's clicking.
Sam Hartman aint walking through that door - our DL is going to wreck their slow mesh this year and let's just hope they don't get away with holding every play when doing the slow mesh (like they usually do lol) 42 - 13 Noles
Kev needs to do in person scouting for the Noles for the remainder of the yr. Just make sure you use pre-paid debit cards and have the camera hidden in a hat or glasses while you do Gods work for the good guys.
You beat it by getting pressure in the backfield. The whole point of the read being slow is to make the defense choose to either go after the receiver or to attack the run. If you sit at the read for multiple seconds with no pressure, the long receiver routes come open because DBs can't cover someone for that long basically no matter what. If you force the read to happen early with D line pressure, then the defensive scheme hasn't been tipped yet and the receivers are still covered by DBs
Yeah I mean they get one on one matchups with the best of them. The difference is they haven't won as many this year. FSU has to come to play. Wake may not be great this year but they can still put pressure on teams
With all their veteran pieces gone and them not having their QB1, don’t care how slow this mesh is if we allow more than 13 points, it will be very disappointing.
@XsandNoles until our defense stops it I'm not buying it. That wake forest offense is still dangerous. They are highly capable of scoring plus our offense hasn't done well against them againg Clawson too. This a a major problem of a game stylistic for us for sure. That offense has been stopped by weaker teams with Hartman last season but that team had it's way against our defense in Doak. Hartman is great QB but that system causes problems. You think Fuller and his support staff didn't look at film for 3 years now? They have and what ever they are doing to combat that style has not worked. Norvell play calling has been slowed down against that defense too
Kev has a keen, exceptional football mind!
I think the quiz parts would be fun as a viewer so I'm glad that that translates!
I hate seeing it work against us, but I always loved the imposing phalanx look this offense has. Thank you for the analysis and teaching me something new!

Yeah if Fiske can get penetration on those it'll be a long day for Wake.
Kev cracked the code
Fuller just watched this so we good.
This was great, thank you! I don’t ever remember being as frustrated as I was last season watching this slow developing RPO. Hartman was great at getting rid of it just in time. Now I know why.

Haha more fascinated than annoyed but I was definitely annoyed by FSUs inability to stop it
This one is at least a 3x’s watch! Interesting as always Kev!
Nicely done! I appreciate your analysis and love your teaching style. The quiz was a masterful addition! I hope to see more! Thanks for your great work.
Clearly a TON of work put into this one Kev. Very well done sir. Very well done…
As always I learned more about football from Kev's breakdowns than from any other source
Great video as always
Hey Kev! Thanks for my weekly CFA class!
I'm a Gator fan so it pains me too give you props but I have too admit the way you broke this down was excellent and it makes me want to run this concept great job
Thanks man. I'm hoping it's in the new game so I can get some easy offense going.
@@XsandNoles Kirk Herbstriet said it was in there when he was narrating the deep dive
Awesome Job!!! This has to be one of your best videos by the way you broke down the offense.
Wake Forest runs a unique style of offense called HOLDING.
Great breakdown. Earned my sub
Thats great work Kevin. I was able to guess where the ball was going/supposed to go on each play you provided based on your break down.
Awesome glad that it worked. There's definitely some edge cases I didn't include
As always, great breakdown and analysis!
Excellent job!!
Good job that slow read is a pain in the butt
Great insight Kev! Love watching your segments.
Nice breakdown, Kev
you have no idea how helpful these videos are!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them!
I did an LSU preview at the beginning of the season you might like if you haven't seen it yet!
Great breakdown! You can tell Kev has been excited to break this one down
I do love this play ngl. It's always fun to watch someone break the mold
Legendary breakdown.
Dude GREAT breakdown
Another excellent analysis as always!
1 NATION UNDER GOD IN THE LAND OF FLORIDA STATE FOOTBALL!!!! GO NOLES!!!!
Strong work here.
Really nice work!
Nice work, Kev!

Love this analogy! I was just thinking about Pitts C4 and how it reminded me of Virginias packline defense in basketball.
Outstanding!!💪🏽
This is so well done! 👏👏
Another great vid! I've always wondered why some undersized High School teams don't adopt the slow mesh but might be too much for a HS QB to process. But if your breakdown on the reads is right it could be done.
Shouldn't. Be too hard but still have to win one on ones outside
GOD BLESS KEV AND GO NOMES! LETS GET TO 8-0 AND BEAT WAKE FOREST!
Dope video
Great stuff dude.
This is going to a better game by Wakeforest then people think
They have Norvells number it seems like
Imagine if the Noles did this with teams having man coverage on Johnny and Keon every play and the added threat of Jordan's legs.
Man, it seems like a no brainer.
Would be fun to watch that's for sure
Have you already submitted this video to Adam fuller yet?
Haha this is my official submission
Can you make a follow-up video of this for College Football 25? Regardless, this has been very helpful in making the right read.

When that had that though with Perry, Hartman, and Walker they were unreal though.
I agree 100% though. They don't have that talent this year.
This is gonna be helpful for CFB 25
Hopefully they have the slow mesh in the game!
I'd blitz to counter it. Don't give Wake's QB time in the backfield to think. Don't give them any lanes to run. Get them behind the chains and mix in blitz looks to add extra confusion. Break the QB and you completely shut down their entire offense.
Works if you can get there in time. Hartman did a really good job of finding the open man vs blitzes.
So don't bring a plus one and wait for them to make a mistake. Or always have your D/line attack at an angle and have your secondary fill cut back lanes....oh yeah, jam their receivers....HARD
I know it sounds simple but I agree. The wait and see d of last year was horrible
Wow. Great pickup
So kev, how would you stop it?
Let's work under the assumption that you won't win one on ones. I would plug up interior gaps either by pinching my DEs or playing a tite front, force the give, and let my safeties rally to the run game.

Yeah do some funky coverages where linebackers do into the lane late
Sam Hartman aint walking through that door - our DL is going to wreck their slow mesh this year and let's just hope they don't get away with holding every play when doing the slow mesh (like they usually do lol)
42 - 13 Noles
When are you joining the staff?
Haha I'm waiting on the call still.
Kev needs to do in person scouting for the Noles for the remainder of the yr. Just make sure you use pre-paid debit cards and have the camera hidden in a hat or glasses while you do Gods work for the good guys.
I've already written my manifesto! Perfect!
@adamfuller you gotta check this guy out man
Great video. Right or wrong.
Haha I don't have the playbook but I think it's a pretty solid guess
What you didn't get into is how to beat this play. Do defenses need to disguise better and trick Wake into sending the ball where they want it?
You beat it by getting pressure in the backfield. The whole point of the read being slow is to make the defense choose to either go after the receiver or to attack the run. If you sit at the read for multiple seconds with no pressure, the long receiver routes come open because DBs can't cover someone for that long basically no matter what. If you force the read to happen early with D line pressure, then the defensive scheme hasn't been tipped yet and the receivers are still covered by DBs
I would keep safeties back, force the run, jam up interior gaps with the DL and let the safeties rally personally
This is brilliant... couldn't let it defeat you, huh? 😂
I've probably gotten something wrong so I may have to come back to it again haha
“…find their way back.” Hopefully not this week. Scalp Deacons!
Cheat code from Kev, but it still makes it tough to win the matchups due to the numbers and scheme.
Yeah I mean they get one on one matchups with the best of them. The difference is they haven't won as many this year.
FSU has to come to play. Wake may not be great this year but they can still put pressure on teams
Bro running a te delayed route to the flats would be nasty out of this
Yeah I'm seeing a lot more delayed TE releases these days. I wonder if its because it takes advantage of match rules
@@XsandNoles teams seem to hit uga with it pretty frequently and they might run the most match
GO NOLES LOCK IN AND GET THE JOB DONE
With all their veteran pieces gone and them not having their QB1, don’t care how slow this mesh is if we allow more than 13 points, it will be very disappointing.
I don't wanna
The system has already been broken down for 3 years now but Adam Fuller can't stop it for some reason
Tbf with Hartman and Perry there weren't many who would
@XsandNoles until our defense stops it I'm not buying it. That wake forest offense is still dangerous. Ummm this goes for just about every offense in America.
the slow mesh is just holding knowing the ACC refs won't call it
NCAA 25
I wish they held their double teams
No no, not "unique". The word you're looking for is "stupid".
How do they not hold !!
Incredible analysis as always!
